    King bed with pull-out couch
    Kathy W.

I stayed at The Clocktower for two nights as a solo traveler. For the most part my stay was good, with a couple exceptions. Check-in was fine and took just a few minutes. The staff wasn't overly friendly or enthusiastic, but that's okay. The elevators were fast and I never had to wait. My room on the third floor, near the end of the hall, was quiet. I heard noise from neighboring rooms, but only while passing by. I did not hear any noise from traffic or people overhead. The room was spacious, with a firm yet comfortable king bed and a large pullout couch. Four guests could have easily shared the space. The closet alcove offered plenty of hangers, plus an ironing board and iron. I didn't use the coffee maker, microwave, or mini fridge, but it's nice that they offer them. The bathroom was spacious and the water pressure was great. The hot water came on immediately and the temperature didn't waver. Some of the "gold" finish was coming off the mirror, and the wall outlet wasn't completely screwed into the wall. I was counting on body wash, since I'd forgotten to pack my own, but no such luck. Judging by the rack screwed into the shower wall, they used to offer shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, but it was empty. The thermostat worked just fine and the blackout curtains were appreciated, but the wall outlet under the desk threw off a bright blue light into the room. The TV and remote worked well and the WiFi was mostly fine, although I did notice a few drops. The included breakfast was pretty standard, offering eggs, ham and sausage, fruit and yogurt, cold cereal and bagels/muffins, plus coffee and juices. The breakfast room is huge so even though it's very popular, no worries about finding a table. My second morning (Sunday) seemed much lighter on choices; for example, they were out of yogurt, cereal, and sausage patties. Checkout was nonexistent, since the front desk people were all in the back room chatting amongst themselves. I just tossed my keycards into the bin on the counter and went about my business. I feel The Clocktower ranks a solid four stars based on my stay. I'd consider staying here again in the future.

I had to fly home a day early, I called Chase, Travel, who checked with the hotel, and they were, no problem at all. They were very flexible. It's a great location, right next to the freeway, but far enough back that you don't hear any noise , and only about 10 minutes or so from Albany airport. I checked in, and everything in the hotel was clean, bright, and modern. The gentleman who checked me in was very friendly, very personable, continuously called me by name, and he got me checked in. Because I'm a higher level with IHG, I got a little "goodie bag" with snacks. I thought that was nice. The hotel also has a little "snack shop" with sundries and food that you can buy. Prices are a little bit higher, but that's expected because you were buying them directly at the hotel. The room itself was modern and spotless, it was a decent sized room. The TV got a great picture, it had a Keurig available, and there was also a fridge and microwave. There was a desk to eat or work at, and plenty of places to charge my gear. The Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream video. The bathroom was also spotless. This is very minor, but the bathtub did not have any type of bathmat or anything like that to stand on. There was a grab bar to grab in case one slipped, but it would be nice to have a bath mat. The bed was comfortable, and I slept like a baby. The hotel has an indoor pool and a hot tub, and a fitness center, of which I did not use. They also have a free laundry for guests, and that came in very handy. I'm glad I didn't have to fly home with dirty laundry. The breakfast in the morning was excellent, hot and cold choices, including cinnamon rolls, pancakes, eggs, proteins, juice, hot and cold cereal, cocoa, and coffee. A very nice stay that definitely lives up to the IHG brand. Thank you for a great night.

What should have been a minor maintenance issue turned into one of the worst hotel experiences I've…read morehad because of the General Manager. During my stay, I dealt with hair in my bedding, a leaking refrigerator, a replacement refrigerator that leaked a brown substance and filled the room with an overwhelming odor, and then another refrigerator that stopped working altogether. Through every issue, the front desk staff were kind, apologetic, and did everything they could to help. The problem was the General Manager, Shelia Annokyia Dubanowich When I politely requested a new room after multiple refrigerator failures, she immediately interrupted me and spoke over me. Instead of asking to see the photos or thanking me for documenting the issue, Sheila questioned why I had taken them in the first place and bluntly told me, "You're not getting a new room. We're booked up." There was no empathy, no apology, and no effort to make things right. When I expressed concern about the substance that had leaked from the refrigerator, Sheila immediately corrected me after I referred to it as Freon and assured me it wasn't toxic. Whether it was or wasn't, was not the point. As a guest, I wasn't looking for a technical explanation. What disappointed me most was her attitude. She came across as defensive and dismissive instead of listening to a guest who had experienced repeated problems. She even criticized members of her own night staff during our conversation, suggesting that because of what they are paid, they don't always care or do their jobs well, which I found unprofessional--especially since those employees had treated me with far more courtesy and respect than she did. Maintenance issues happen. Leadership and customer service are what determine whether guests return. The front desk staff earned my appreciation. Sheila, on the other hand, could use some Management and Customer Service training. Nobody cares Sheila, that you used to work for the FBI. Guests should never feel like they're being interrogated when they're simply reporting a problem. Unfortunately, that's exactly how my interaction with Sheila felt.

The smell was a mold mixture with some kind of Chemical spray. I cleaned my C Pap machine out before I used it after one night there and the smell is still in my machine. All of the belongings I had with me are still in my car, I am afraid to take them out, hoping if there is anything alive in them the heat will kill it. Our front door matt had not been swept or cleaned in probably over a year or more! There was filth everywhere! I should have just slept in my car. I'm mortified and have PTSD from the place. I had no option to stay somewhere else. I'm not a snob I can ruff it with the best of them, but this place should be closed by the health department. I had to clean things just to stay there.

Yes,it's a bit rough around the edges, but I found it plenty comfortable. The bed was clean, that's the most important part of course. I thought at first that the ice machine was lame and insufficient (With it's broken lid/door and all) but we hat plenty of ice. The microwave in the lobby didn't work, but there was an ample supply of reasonable coffee provided in the morning and that's what I wanted the microwave for anyway. I was in room 102 and had a nice chat with friendly folks on the bench outside. My nextdoor neighbors for 3days. The guy in the office was nice. Over all I had a good experience there. A step back in time in a way. I liked it.
