Well I went to this bar called Whisperz just before Christmas. It's relatively local to me and am…read morealways eager to discover new places in surrounding areas. I feel like this area will be gentrified soon enough due to the new luxury apartments and a possible Supermarket which will probably open up nearby. The fact that Whisperz has a few local restaurants neighbouring it is nice, but I had popped in one evening on a Friday as I heard some music from within. It's not a wide bar but it is long and can hold a number of people. I think it's best for these type of nights out as it's good to stand, chat and drink here actually (which is what we did). We had a few cocktails seeing as we were in a mixed group and they had some deals on to save on the pennies which is good as Christmas was coming up. I'm not the biggest pop fan, but everyone was really into the music and you kind of got into it all as the night went on. The booze helped, but I suppose that's what bars like this are for. It was so good we ended up staying till near closing. From what I understand the site Whisperz (which I'm not sure what was behind that name) is changing it to something more specific (Bar Kitsch) as the owners loved the fun vibe of certain cheesy themed nights, so the music will be anything from 70's and 80's to the present. I'm totally down with that! I love that there will be an eclectic range of music throughout the years, even if there is a bit of cheesy retro songs. You never know I might even be tempted for a bit of karaoke if they play the Baywatch theme tune, haha. I welcome a fun new bar to the local area which is renowned for being quite sleepy, as it will improve the sense of the nightlife. Would be nice to have offering something different. Crouch End nearby already has some good little pubs and a few upmarket restaurants, so I love that finally there's a proper evening bar to let your hair down locally without having to venture far out of this area of North London and all with a late license! All good by me, especially if they keep the happy hour that everyone seemed to be taking advantage of previously. I look forward to the relaunch (apparantly it might be in March '16) and dancing to some funky tunes.

The service is stylish and nothing short of a performance in itself. Even something as simple as the cucumber water pour punctuates the moment as your servers become one with the 1940s atmosphere. The sofas are intimate, the lighting is flattering and if you can't find something on the menu that you'll like, then you've clearly never been introduced to the pillars of cocktail culture so start from the top.

We ended up downstairs in the private room, which was surprisingly well set up - a perfect mini-stage and a bar to fill our needs. I sat at the bar as all the booths were taken and the staff were really friendly and never let my glass go empty, which is really appreciated as the bar was full. No waving down for another round here! I stuck to the gin cocktails and tried the Bouquet Garni & Stone 75, with Stone 75 being my favourite. The barman was able to offer advice when choosing, so helped me decide on what was best for my taste. So it was perfect. There is a pool table at the front of the bar, which my friend and I had a play at, which was quite cool, you don't often get a pool table in a nice bar and people generally had one game and sat down, nobody hogged the table. I will definitely be returning and it was a great result to discover this place on my first visit to the area.

Hands down my new favourite bar in London (and that is a BIG statement) the staff are absolutely fantastic they know there stuff back to front and inside out. You can order from the well thought out menu or they will whip you up something freestyle to your liking. I have never encountered such incredible mixology, service and genuinely enthusiastic staff. However after 2 tasty tipple I would not suggest trying your hand at the old school pool table - your not going to win there. I almost don't want to post this - just to keep this wee place all to myself!

The pub has a general charming, shabby feel about it with cracked sofas and low slung tables. The bar is typically stocked and is open later and so great for one more drink. The atmosphere is generally relaxed and friendly, with a lot of people increasingly worse for wear. The staff are similarly amiable. They have weekly open mic nights and DJs which are good fun. Once through the door I realised I really shouldn't make assumptions. The delight is it's somewhere that offers an alternative to the old men's boozers that monopolise the local area. But the selection of beer is less than inspiring and it certainly doesn't have the 1950s American feel that I had expected from the outside and the name. The jukebok is constantly rolling out the rock and indie and apparently it's free on Mondays. I doubt I'd recommend anyone to out of their way to pick up a pint here but should you be passing and in need of a little something to wet your whistle then choose this over the grot carpet clad alternatives.

I arrived late to see Andi Pomato, but still got to catch the last bit of his set. I can't really speak to the food except the chips with cheese. It wasn't the best, but it definitely held its own. I had an aperol spritz, which was tangy yet sweet. Side point: a very nice size goblet indeed. I also had a really good lager that I think I forgot to take a picture of. My friends each had a Jack and Coke, which they enjoyed. I can see this place being great during the evening or summer time as there is an outdoor seating area with picnic benches. Inside, there are enough sitting spaces and a descent size bar. I didn't get the chance to explore more of the pub but I liked it. On the left hand side of where I sat, just to the right of the bar, is what I assumed to be the kitchen separated from the sitting area only by a short brick wall. There was only a brick arch which I liked the look of by the kitchen. I hope to come here again during the evening to test the vibe but I can imagine, being close to a park, it would be great.

Not sure what it was trying to hide, the sauce. Maybe that there wasn't much pork in it? The floor staff were just about interested. I had to ask to have the table wiped down before our food arrived, as it had a bits of the last diners food all over it. I'm not sure why I gave it four stars in my first review.
