The pub is just a minutes walk away from Finsbury Park station and sits on the busy junction with Blackstock Road. I have been to this boozer many times over the last 30 or so years and it never disappoints. It's a proper London pub in every way, from its architecture, atmosphere to the clientele. The pub is synonymous with Arsenal fans for a pre or post match pint of which it is very good for but the pub is not a one trick pony. A few sofas and a couple of armchairs scattered around 4 TVs. We ended up sitting on a table watching a projection TV on the back wall of the bar. Not really a great setup. Staff was great. On the left hand side of where I sat, just to the right of the bar, is what I assumed to be the kitchen separated from the sitting area only by a short brick wall. The music is good, the bar maids are cute and the booze is cheap. They only have Sam Miguel and Carlington on tap. The place has an awesome glow to it, once inside it transports you to the other side of the world. They had the match on, and we found a corner were the fans could look out at the TV in the main area, while the rest of us got to settle back round the corner and ignore it. I think food was meant to be served in another area, but they rustled up some lovely bowls of chips for us. They were home made, delicious and generous portions, served with sachets of lots of different condiments. I had mine with tomato sauce and mayonnaise. I guess it's difficult to judge what a pub would be like in the evenings from one afternoon visit. And I can't tell you what the beer is like either.
