Love The City Dog! We have been using The City Dog since 2018. Everyone there is wonderful and so good with the dogs. The staff is amazing. This is one of the best places for day care. We try to go once a week to let our little girl play with friends and work out some of that extra energy. Price point isn't cheap at $27.00 a day or $16 for a half day. Packages are available with slight discounts per visit. They also offer discounts for multiple dogs. The City Dog is great for boarding too. Such a peace of mind knowing you do not have to worry and they are in good hands while your away. During boarding they get play time and their own suite to sleep in. They do post pictures while away and you can bring a favorite toy, blanket and other security item for pet to have while they are there. They do offer additional special devices. We have done the kennel bath and nail trims too. Covid safety precautions are observed and they do a really good job here. The only negative critiques would be you are depending on whoever is posting to social media to upload pics and videos. Sometimes your dog does not make it on a daily post and there is no live stream available to check in. Kind of disheartening if you are working and hoping to see your dog. I will say they have gotten better with this over the last year. They really are top notch and provide exceptional care and services. Our Dog love it there. Always excited to go. He hates the car and when we tell him he's going to city dog he's actually excited about the trip and runs in circles wagging his tail to show his excitement. Do not recommend this daycare any longer as of May 2023. They have lied and mistreated their entire staff. The staff fought for over a couple of years trying to get things fixed and changed for the safety of the dogs and themselves. During this time, the owners wouldn't do anything for them. They continued to keep the staff in the dark and wouldn't even stay up to date with everything. During the last few months, more things were building up, and when management tried to stand up for everyone, they were threatened in different ways. That entire staff was the only reason why we trusted to have our dogs there, and the owners pushed them all around so badly that 19 out of 20 employees quit. This was the only time that the owners started taking everything seriously. At that time, we were notified with only one weeks noticed that we wouldn't have daycare for our loving pups. Only 30 mins before staff found out. Meanwhile, the owners are telling anyone they know that it is all the staffs fault and even accusing employees of theft now. Beware of who you speak with when talking to this facility because you may be walking in the web of lies. read more

We've been taking our two dogs to The City Dog for over 6 months now. My wife and I recently had our first child and needed to board our dogs while at the hospital. The City Dog was incredibly accommodating and flexible with scheduling our boarding dates since baby's don't always arrive on time. Additionally, while our dogs were there they apparently weren't eating a lot. A staff member took the time and initiative to feed our large slobbery dogs by hand to ensure they were getting fed. This meant the world to us. I couldn't be more grateful for their help and going above and beyond. It was one less thing to for us worry about during a huge life transition. You can tell the entire staff is deeply invested in the wellbeing and happiness of all the dogs that are under their care and supervision. read more

We have loved City Dog for many years. When we had an older sick dog who couldn't be left alone at home, we took him to City Dog and he received loving care and attention from everyone there. We've taken our dog to The City Dog three times--and each time we've always said, "Hmm . . . There's got to be a better place than that!" On our third visit, we finally learned our lesson. After a one-night stay, our dog (which is a very friendly, youthful mixed breed) contracted conjunctivitis. We are also pretty sure she got hookworm there earlier in the year. I know disease is a risk at any kennel, but The City Dog seems especially out-of-control, overcrowded, and loud. Additionally, it is overpriced. We paid $41.00 for a one-night stay (they tagged on an $11 half-day charge because we picked her up after 10am). At our new kennel, we will pay $21.00 a night, and $2/hr every hour after noon. The bottom line: The City Dog should be avoided, unless you absolutely must go. There are better kennels in Columbus that are less crowded and have outside exercise space, and are much less expensive. read more

I first noticed The City Dog when driving down Main St to go to Doggie Daycare to have my dog groomed. It's unassuming exterior and simple sign made me curious, and one day I decided to google it to see what it was. The City Dog is a doggie daycare that is very clean and accessible. They don't hide anything, which is comforting in a way to show that they have nothing to hide behind the tall walls to keep big dogs from prancing through their shop. The first time I brought my dog here, I was coming to have her groomed, and they said that after she was groomed, I could leave her for daycare while I was at work. The first day of doggie daycare was free for her temperament testing. Although I have previously had her groomed at Doggie Daycare, she stays in the grooming facilities instead of joining the daycare. The daycare area is divided into two play areas and a small outdoor area. The day Maddy was groomed, they had a pool out for the dogs to play in. There are tons of toys and lots of other dogs. I'll admit, I was a little worried about my tiny Maltese because there were some big dogs there, and we had never done anything like doggie daycare before. I guess it's something like sending your kid off for the first day of school except your dog doesn't talk about his or her day. When I came back to get my dog, she was super happy and excited. The people working the facility told me she did well and showed me the dogs she played with during the day. The true test was when I came home, Maddy was exhausted and slept like a happy little dog all day. I usually come here when I work doubles, when I'm not home all day, and when I do come home, I'm exhausted. I know my dog is happily playing with other puppies, and when she comes home, she's all puckered out. The City Dog has half day and full day services ($11 and $22 respectively) and also dog grooming services. Maddy was a perfectly pretty puppy when she came home from grooming, although it was a little more expensive than previous places I've been to, and she's only 7lbs. The staff is super duper friendly and knows the dogs well. They even take pictures and videos of the dogs playing and post them on Facebook. read more

I have a ~1 year old Great Pyrenees and 6 year old French Mastiff. Went in for the "assessment" which lasted about 3 minutes. It was loud and lots of dogs barking which is to be expected but obviously an intimidating environment even for my large dogs. They took Cotton, the Great Pyr, without his sister or me into the daycare area to introduce him to other dogs, first one and he made it to four before he snipped at another dog. So he failed the test. No one with any knowledge of the breed would conduct an assessment in that way. Not the place for big dogs. read more

Great place to take your dog. We take our two pups there on a regular basis for daycare as well as for overnight boarding. The staff is very friendly and we feel comfortable leaving our dogs there overnight knowing they will be in good hands. We have gone to a different daycare in the past and were disappointed that the dogs smelled like urine when we picked them up. This is not a problem here, and we have often picked them up from boarding to find them freshly bathed. The facility also has an outdoor space which is nice. I honestly couldn't have been happier with the years we sent our two dogs (30lbs and 80lbs) to City Dog. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, and I truly thing cared about our pups, not just as "units". Their new space is large, with lots of variety. Their picture updates were great. They've taken the time to update their waitlist policy and now regularly check to make sure that days/times work for me. Finally had the chance to use their boarding services for a recent trip. I was a bit of a disorganized mess as I was getting ready to head out of town and forgot to attach instructions for my dog's medication. Said I would e-mail them and I forgot--but arrived at my destination with an e-mail from the staff reminding me. Just what I needed! My more-than-slight separation averse dog had an awesome time. The best thing about the facility is the staff. They do a great job of remembering each dog and owner, which shows a lot about how much they care for their clients. read more

Our dogs loved the place! They are always tired from playing and seem to get great treatment by the support staff. My only complaint is the owner. She is very arrogant and kind of rude. I never feel welcomed when she's in there. My wife told me to pick up our dog on a Sunday on my way home, but didn't mention there were specific hours to do so and the lady was demeaning and talked down to me because I didn't know. It took all of 30 seconds for them to grab my dog. We have found a place with a bigger inside and outside space that do the same thing, and the owner isn't a nightmare. read more

The staff truly care about and get to know your dogs. They take photos and post videos to their Facebook page almost daily. My dog is excited to get there and tired when she comes home. Before she started attending daycare her behavior with other dogs was not always appropriate-now she is well socialized and well mannered in just about every situation. For those who know me, you know that my dog - Albert - is my family. I am a fairly new dog owner...I got Albert when he was 8 weeks old, and he's now only 13 months. So, I was skeptical about leaving him with anyone. Unfortunately, the demands of my job - long hours, traveling - requires me to send him to daycare or a kennel more often than I'd like to. But The City Dog has now become part of our family. There's no one in this city I trust more than the girls who work there (and Scott, the fabulous groomer!). Don't be scared if you walk in and see a lot of dogs - this is a popular place to be. But these dogs are treated like kings, and each gets personal attention throughout the day. It's affordable, the facilities are clean, and they don't treat owners as just a means to increasing their bottom line. They care about these animals just as much as we do. My little man comes home after, incredibly tired (yay!) and socialized. They've played a huge role in making Albert the great dog he is today. And they've taught me a lot about dog care - I owe them so much and would recommend them to anyone looking for a great place. read more

Although City Dog looks like a fine doggie daycare and it's obvious that its clients have had relatively good experiences, I will never take my dog here. City Dog's owner has purchased a location right next to another doggie daycare in Columbus. Normally, this wouldn't bother me; I think competition is good. However, City Dog now has ownership of the only parking lot near both daycare centers and won't allow clients of the other daycare unload their dogs in this parking lot. This forces people to park on the street and unload their dogs on a very busy road. The owner of this other daycare center has offered to rent 4 parking spaces from City Dog (for way more than the average cost of a parking spaces in downtown Columbus), so that we may unload our dogs safely. City Dog has refused to accommodate. I understand competition, but by refusing to allow dog owners to safely unload their dogs tells me that City Dog only cares about the dogs they are making money off of. It's really disappointing and pretty shameful. I want to surround my dog with people I know truly care about the safety and well-being of ALL dogs. This is clearly not City Dog. read more
