We absolutely love The Child Day Schools. As an anxious mama with just one kiddo, I thought finding the right preschool for him was going to be incredibly difficult. But as soon as I walked in I felt at ease. This was the third place I toured and I instantly knew it was going to be the right fit. Lindsay explained their philosophy which really emphasizes play based learning, (exactly what we were looking for) and just taking to her and watching the teachers interact with the kids I could tell that everyone really cares about these children, that it's not just a job. Their outside areas are big and shady and well equipped and the kids get a ton of time out there which I feel is crucial at this age. And my kid LOVES IT. He's been there for a little over a year and is excited to go every day. He always tells me how much he loves all the teachers and always wants to make them cards. His social skills have gotten better, he's made a bunch of friends, and he's learned a lot more than I expected at this age. The skills he is gaining impress me daily. I know some parents like daily updates on their child's progress, and you can get that here, but you have to ask for it. You won't get an email or a long conversation at pick up time everyday. But I just always check in with the teachers a few times a week and they're happy to talk with me or email with me. I just can't say enough good things about this place. Being able to leave my child somewhere I feel he is truly safe and cared for is so important. read more

I can't say enough good things about this school! We found TCDS after our preschool abruptly shut down and it was a lifesaver. Our son thrived in the program and learned so much during his time there. The instructors are amazing and it's a great environment with a good mix of instruction/learning and free play. He was prepared to make the transition to TK at our local elementary school last fall and it was all due to the TCDS. We're excited to have our daughter start at the school in August. If you're in search of a great preschool full of loving and thoughtful teachers and a wonderful academic/play environment, you definitely need to check out TCDS. TCDS is a hidden gem and I feel fortunate that a friend told us about this school. From the first visit, I was impressed with the school's clearly articulated philosophy and the number of ways they've incorporated research to optimize learning. At the foundation, the school fosters a safe and connected environment between the students, teachers, and the families, knowing that this is necessary in order for children to access their brain's executive state. All the teachers care about the kids, saying hello and goodbye to them by name, and practice conflict resolution skills to help develop awareness, empathy, and life skills. When it comes to the curriculum, they've incorporated research-based approaches like projects webs and high scope so kids can be hands-on, engaged, and develop a love for learning. Since my son started at TCDS a couple months ago, I've seen him become much more confident in himself, be more self-sufficient, and is excited about what is he doing and learning at school. If you have an opportunity to send your child to TCDS, I'd highly recommend it. We have been parents at TCDS for about 5 years now, my son and daughter have both gone through most of the classrooms. This is such a lovely little school! The staff is caring, they are creative in projects and how they teach the kids and you can just tell the kids have a great time. We have had both of our children (currently 7 and 6) at TCDS since they were two years old and could not be happier with the experience. As with any youth-oriented service, staffing is key, and the teachers at TCDS are incredible. They are clearly passionate about helping youngsters grow and learn, and they are able to connect with each child and understand what makes them tick so that they can tailor their approach with each. In the five years we have been going to TCDS, neither child has EVER complained about going to "school", which I deem to be quite a feat. This school is wonderful. My son has been attending TCDS since October 2021, enrolled in the Jr-Kindergarten program with Miss Nicole. Searching for a preschool was challenging given the fact that my child has a severe peanut allergy. I was relieved to find out TCDS was a nut free school and, overall, a perfect fit for our family. Miss Lindsay, the Director, has been especially accommodating since day one. She sends out updates often so all parents stay in the loop. I truly feel that all the teachers genuinely care and that my son is in good hands when I drop him off. My son made friends, had fun learning various subjects, been involved in hands-on/interactive projects and is now ready for kindergarten. I couldn't have chosen a better school! read more

We started our 2.5-year-old here two weeks ago after searching high and low for an attentive, emotionally supportive, creativity fostering program and so far we are in love! They're really hurting for students because of COVID19 but they're doing a fantastic job of strictly enforcing precautions so everyone stays safe. Please consider bringing your child here! We were lucky enough to get a referral about The Child Days Schools in Pleasanton, and had been touring so many darycares/preschools at that point. Once we walked in to the campus, we immediately knew this was where we wanted to send our kids. The staff here is wonderful-- they are warm, fun, easy to talk to, and very much love the important work that they do. We felt the tuition was fair-- especially compared to many other larger corporate run centers in the area. Our kids love it here, and have learned so much, but have so much fun doing it. read more

I've been a parent of two kids at TCDS for the past 5 yrs. The staff members are exceptional! The "Family" -like values and great creative and academic curriculum were my key factors in choosing this school. The buildings are quiant, cute and very clean, like a home-school environment. The play-yards are totally shaded with big beautiful old trees and the equipment is very well maintained and provides many opportunities for kids 2-5 to FLOURISH! We love this school! read more

We were really happy have our children attending The Child Day School in Pleasanton. We looked at many different schools in the area but the unique curriculum and very warm environment made us choose this school. Our daughter went through school age program. Being picked up in the van coming back from the school to the Child Day School was highlight of her day. She enjoyed small ratio and fun summer program s. Our son started at age of two and left the program completely prepared for the kindergarten. The best feature of the school it is their wonderful and caring staff. As parents we know, it is really hard to leave your child in someone's care, the teacher always made my kids comfortable and well in their care. We give The child Day Schools five Stars!!! read more

My son started at 2 years old at the The Child Day Schools - Pleasanton and I am sad to say will be leaving this fall to start Kindergarten. This school has been wonderful. By no means is TCDS a big, flashy pre-school. Just four rooms, packed with love, caring, and understanding for kids. I was once sucked into a larger pre-school with the fancy key fobs that electronically opened the doors, and the jumbo play yards, but this is so much better. Here are some things I love about TCDS. Morning Drop Off: 1. Both you and your child are greeted by a teacher each morning. 2. They have no problems if you need to spend time with your child if he/she is shy, scared, or just having a clingy morning. 3. They make drop off fun. There is a low window where the kids can wave good bye when you exit the parking lot. The kids pretend to take your order al la fast food style. If you're in the play yard the kids put their fingers through the knot holes in the fence for a fun game of finger in the hole with you. Peeking through the holes is encouraged. To be honest, as a parent, you look like a fool on the other side of the fence, but hearing giggles as you leave is so much better then a sobbing "I want Mommy" as you walk to your car. Potty Training: 1. TCDS actually helps you potty train. Lots of schools claim to work with you and your child, but as any parent knows the help is pretty limited. Unless your child says "I have to go potty" you should expects lots of accidents. This school has 3 toilets in one bathroom. The little ones get to see the older kids using the potty which is great motivation. Teachers: 1. Teacher turn over is quite low at TCDS. Preschool as a whole is a high turn over job, but here most of the teachers have been with the school for years. 2. Also, the teachers are different in their personality which is nice because some kids gravitate to the style they like. 3. In the play yard the teachers interact with the kids. The do NOT stand in the corner of the yard chatting with each other. Activities: 1. There is a good mix of indoor class time and outside play time. Evening Pick Up: 1. Teachers see you come into the yard and call out to your child that Mom or Dad is here. Even teachers who do not teach your child's class know what parent goes to which kid. You can't say that about bigger schools. Check it out for your self. TCDS is a great school, with really loving teachers. read more

This school is amazing. The teachers and admin staff are great. It is very affordable and flexible and has before and after care transporation. My 5 year old loves it here and my youngest can't wait to start when he turns 2 Highly Recommend it. read more

We have had our 2 kids at TCDS for about 2 years now and really love the place (we experienced two other schools before moving to TCDS). The school facilities are excellent - ample rooms, great playgrounds with trees, very much a "large home environment". But really the most important aspect is the warmth/passion of the staff - one really feels like extended family. They all are experienced, very caring and teach kids good values. Our kids love the school and always look forward the going to it. They have attended the summer programs too which they have loved - full of fun activities with outside guests and fields trips. The Child Day School is such a special place and we feel so fortunate that our children are able to go there. The teachers are amazing-- so patient, nurturing, friendly, and loving. We couldn't ask for more in a daycare or pre-school. Each day I drive away knowing that my child will be cared for and loved while I'm gone. And each day when I come back, I can tell my child had a ball playing and learning at school that day. My daughter attended from age 2 through 5 and was extremely well prepared for kindergarten. She still talks fondly about her teachers , her friends, and her fun times at TCDS. My son still goes there and adores his teachers and his friends. We truly can't recommend TCDS enough-- it is a wonderful school!!!! read more

We love TCDS! I am a parent that has had two children go through TCDS Pleasanton with one more starting in the fall. The staff and teachers are kind and loving. They take pride in their jobs at TCDS. I love their teaching and learning philosophy. It really matches up to how we parent at home and our values as a family. The facility is older but it feels like a home. The play yards are seperated by age group - something I appreciate very much and the classrooms always have age appropriate toys/activities. What I love best is they foster your child's individuality while teaching them how to work with others. We have tried other programs in town before coming to TCDS and nothing compares to it! read more
