We've seen many articles online talking about this seemingly eerie place and decided to visit…read moreyesterday afternoon. We thought it was a much bigger forest but it wasn't small either, it was big enough. We explored mostly to the right side of the forest but saw people walking back out from the left. We spotted a cow towards the left that's why we didn't head that way. The tall trees were lined up like we've seen in pictures but there was not much else to see. It was an interesting sight to see nonetheless. Makes you wonder why the trees were planted in such a fashion. It was a nice and cool walk around under the trees too! On the way back out, the cow decided to start moving slowly and eventually blocked our way out of the forest. The husband and I slowly moved in the opposite direction and made as little noise as possible telling each other not to move suddenly or talk too loudly. The cow kept moving and eventually cleared our path. Phew ..... LoL ... Well that was fun if it wasn't for the cow!

The perform a passion play called the prince of peace which first ran during Easter 1926. Make sure you wear good solid shoes as there are many rocky areas. The site also has a memorial for the Oklahoma City bombing victims, a Veterans Walkway, and an 11-foot marble Christ statue. This past April they performed the 100th annual play.

The City of Apache is very near and dear to my heart. I used to spend many endless summers there as a little girl visiting my grandma and grandpa. We started in the old barn, where both employees & several volunteers were there to give us a quick run down of the family & what to expect. Then, we were led to the house & given the opportunity to explore! Each room is opulent with painted ceilings, ritzy carpets & very fancy furniture from the late 1800s. The history is amazing & was so fun to learn about. The volunteers were wonderful & knew a LOT of great facts. We LOVED our time & are hoping to return around Christmas.

Especially in terms of classical beauty and architecture. It looks old and yet new. It's different... but the same. Oh wait I was channeling Bill & Ted. It looks so quaint it could be in Disneyland - but it's absolutely real and not fake at all. Unlike my girl. I don't get tired of driving around the back streets of this neighbourhood and seeing this gorgeous building. And there's computers... and SAN DIMAS HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RULES!

We came to attend our son's BCT graduation and this was one of the first places we visited and we are so glad that we did - our son's AIT will be Artillery and this museum has a wealth of artillery history from pre-revolutionary times to modern. I especially enjoyed the video showing us what our son will be doing in the Army Artillery. This old Fort Sill National Historic Landmark requires some imagination because it's still fully integrated into the base and officers still live in the old houses surrounding the parade field . Be sure to start in the main building and look at the diorama to get your bearings before you walk around. The best display is the old cavalry barracks which is set up exactly as it would have been around 1890-1900. Ft. Sill played an amazing part in our frontier history and this post does a good job of explaining it.

They have several hands on displays that are great for kids and adults. There is a movie theater that shows an 18 minute video about life on the cattle drive. I especially enjoyed their collection of western art. Their collection includes Remington, Russell and Catlin paintings. The outdoor bronze sculpture is amazing. The staff is very nice! They are very knowledgeable of the history of the Chisholm trail and more than willing to share their knowledge with visitors. The audience feels the wind, the rain, and even the lightening extends past the big screen (still safe though... projects on the walls). The audience even experiences the scents of the prairie grass.
