The pub is cosy and friendly, and in a great location for walkers and cyclists on the Tissington trail. During our visit we ate in the restaurant several times. The Fish n Chips were fabulous, very tasty and not greasy. The Toad in the Hole was another favorite and a new experience for this American. The Sunday Roast was second to none. The owners, Diane and Phil, are very hands on with their business and are delightful to speak with. When we are back in the area, I know where we will be staying.

It has a lovely and cosy bar area with a good selection of ales. Our room was on the ground floor and was not far from the gents toilet! However, it was really quiet and there was a little corridor between room and toilet. The room smelt a bit fusty but it is over 200 years old and it was very clean. The breakfast was lovely, very fresh tasting. Good selection of cereals as well. There is parking directly opposite the pub. It is about 5mins walk from lots of restaurants and pubs. There is also an old fashioned sweet shop across the road from the pub, has an amazing range. Nice place to stay to explore the surrounding area.

We were only stopping through for a couple of days, but still managed to pack in an afternoon of ales, cider and pool at The Cock and Pullet pub. It's a charming little pub chock full of classic English heritage. The staff were lovely and accommodating and the selection of ales, ciders and beers were most superb. If you find yourself up in this beautiful neck of the woods (it's literally right in the middle of the picturesque Peak District),I'd highly recommend that you stop in for a Tipple!

The award winning sausages on the menu lived up to their billing, best I have ever tasted! They do Pie Sunday every other week which is OK if you like pies but they don't do Sunday lunches that day, but do have lots of specials. (I can heartily recommend the Baked Haddock ) If you do go on a Sunday I would recommend you go early as it gets very busy very quickly (the sign of a good pub with good food)
