We are SO thrilled that we chose The Cheney Place for our February wedding! From the moment we stepped inside, we knew it was the perfect venue. The combination of industrial charm, elegant details, and modern touches created the most breathtaking setting for our big day. The space is incredibly versatile, allowing us to bring our vision to life effortlessly. The natural light, gorgeous furniture, and unique décor elements made for stunning photos. Plus, having multiple levels gave our guests plenty of room to mingle, dance, and enjoy the celebration! The staff, especially Hannah, was incredible to work with! Leading up to our wedding, communication via email was easy and efficient, and they were always helpful in answering our questions. Everything went smoothly for both our rehearsal and wedding day, and we felt completely taken care of. Our only small frustration was the accessibility of the office staff from the main entrance. Since their office is on the far end of the second floor, they couldn't hear us when we were dropping off or picking up décor, which led to some long waits outside, even when we had appointments. That said, this was a minor issue, and it in no way affected the actual wedding day, which was executed flawlessly! If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind venue with character, elegance, and a great team behind it, The Cheney Place is the perfect choice! We wouldn't change a thing about our wedding day and are so grateful to the team for making it unforgettable. read more

My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Cheney place this summer. I fell in love with The Cheney Place when I was a guest at my friend's wedding in 2017. Ever since, I knew this was where I wanted my wedding to be. They sure delivered on making my dreams come true! They help you out every step of the way & the staff is so helpful & organized. We had Meg as our day of coordinator & she helped to make sure everything went perfectly & I didn't have to think at all & could enjoy my day! Cannot recommend this venue enough :) read more

Book this venue! The staff is amazing and made my wedding day go perfectly. They were very accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process. Not only is the staff amazing but the venue is shabby chic with a romantic vintage feel. I have never been to a venue like it before which is what drew me to it! read more

TCP is such a beautiful venue with wonderful people who consistently checked in with us to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible. All our questions were answered in a timely manner and the creativeness to be able to layout our reception area for different types of tables as well as little vignettes for couches/chairs/coffee tables was so neat. At our rehearsal the night before, we had Sara to help us with coordination and give suggestions as needed and we really appreciated having her there. We were provided day of coordination working with Grace. She was absolutely amazing and willing to do anything within her power to be able to make sure our day was as beautiful and stress free as possible. We recently attended a wedding reception here. I very much enjoyed the cocktail hour and the beautiful seating areas throughout the room. Very eclectic style, with panache. The bartenders and waitstaff were attentive and quick to pour a drink or offer appetizers. The main dining space was beautifully decorated with plenty of dance floor space! Large bar offer space with elbow room. The brisket dinner was mouth-watering. I didn't pay for anything, as I was a guest, so I can't speak to the value or worth of space versus cost. But it's a great atmosphere for a reception or special event. So out-of-the-ordinary, which makes it all the more worthwhile! read more

Our daughter was married at Cheney place and had her reception there. This venue is awesome - she had her ceremony and reception without leaving. They coordinate and help with everything including providing suggested caterers which she used Kangaroo catering (fantastic food and excellent service - very professional) It was a special time and Cheney place took care of coordinating the ceremony and just made it very easy. The guests had a great time and loved the venue. read more

This is truly a gorgeous venue for a wedding! That said, when Covid hit they said it as an act of god and would not refund the deposit...FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS! Nor any part of it. They had done absolutely nothing for my daughters wedding up to that point. They did offer 2 different dates to hold it, both were too ridiculous to even consider, which I am sure is the reason those dates were not booked already. In my opinion, it was bad business. This is a gorgeous venue for a wedding! In addition to the venue, the staff was just great. Very organized and went over and above to make sure my daughter's wedding was everything she wanted. Emily was the best!! There are so many details to a wedding, and they made things very easy for us. I'm so glad we chose Cheney :-) read more

They really advertise for a much better experience than what is given in reality, including "on-Site and Transportation to and from the venue," which means that if equipment breaks down (and it did) that you are left waiting to pile onto a bus whenever they can get one to your guests. Walking into the space, all I could see was an awful slab floor. It looked as if they were still in renovation stage or something. Just awful. Your guests get one little coat rack that looks as if they bought it online, and it's in a back hallway as you make your way to the restrooms. It's a cramped space and I wonder why this place was so poorly built, but then I remembered what I call the 'benefactor factor,' and it became more and more clear. The only way that this place becomes "gorgeous," as it's been referred to in other posts, is if you spend a ton of money with a trained event professional (outside and separate cost, of course) to beautify it. Otherwise, you have a small room with a slab floor to work with. The only redeeming quality of the place is the outside deck.

The Cheney Place is an incredible choice for a wedding venue! The entire staff was incredibly kind and helpful. From the day we booked, they were always available to answer any questions or help with anything we needed. They make planning a breeze! Meg was our day of coordinator and she was so sweet and helpful. Coordinated with all of the vendors ahead of time and made sure everything was set up perfectly! Ellie took over later in the day and made sure everything went smoothly and cleaned everything up so quickly and helped us get all of our stuff! I cannot stop raving about how great they were! On top of the great staff, the venue is absolutely stunning. I received so many compliments on how gorgeous the venue was and how it was unique. The beauty in the place is something to see! From the vintage furniture, ( you can have in your wedding) all the way to the cocktail hour floor layout. Me and my HUSBAND ADORED this place! The Cheney Place is absolutely AMAZING. We had our wedding there on August 16, 2025 and everything was taken care of down to the smallest detail. It was such a relief to walk into the venue in the afternoon and see that our vision had completely come to life. Since we are not based in Grand Rapids, we initially worried some of the coordinating may be a bit difficult. But The Cheney Place team was so incredibly kind and accommodating from the time we picked the venue. We'd like to especially highlight Meg, who served as our day of contact and was absolutely amazing. The Cheney Place and their staff made our day so unbelievably smooth, I cannot say enough about their high level of service and attentiveness. Their in depth planning checkpoints/meetings/emails leading up to the day are an organized bride's dream. I didn't have to lift a finger on the day of; all decorations, coordination, vendor management were executed FLAWLESSLY all while myself, my husband and our family and friends got ready in a relaxed environment allowing us to really enjoy.
