We were having a great time at the 9 Mile Garden and decided to try the Cheese Shack for dinner. Lucky them, they were the food truck with the best sales that night! We had the Lobster Melt and the Big Pig. The descriptions of the menu were mouth watering but the be completely honest , I was not all that Impressed. Sandwiches were nicely toasted, super generous with the cheese, but the presentation a bit lame and definitely too much mayo in the lobster sandwich The Big Pig could have used some more Pig. I saw kids and adults with big smiles in their faces eating their big portions of tater tots and I thought that next time I would skip the sandwiches and go for the tots! They looked yummy! read more

Whenever I tell people I'm vegetarian, they usually ask if I'm vegan. The answer? Hell no! I love cheese too much. So when I heard about this new food truck, which just started going out this week, I knew I had to make it part of my summer food truck pilgrimage, stat. My food truck buddy, Megan A., and I hit it up at Cardinal Glennon today. I ordered an Italian without pepperoni, which is basically a fancy grilled cheese, with basic and spices, on bread toasted with garlic herb butter. I also ordered a mac n' cheese ball and a drink. All of this for under $10. They started to make our food and made sure that I just wanted the sandwich without pepperoni, which was nice, because they wanted to get it right. It came out quickly, 5 minutes or less. One of the guys working asked us about the time - you could tell that they are trying to serve customers fast without much wait. For a custom made sandwich, that is a great amount of time. When we got our food, we could tell that they really are making an effort with presentation. The containers the food comes in had cute yellow checkered paper in it, the sanwich was cut in half with an olive in a toothpick, and the marinara dipping sauce for the mac n cheese ball even had a sprinkling of parmesan cheese in it. The sandwich wasn't huge but not tiny either, and had a LOT Of cheese that was stringy and delicious. It had great flavor from the herbs and basil, and the garlic butter on the toast made it even more out of this world. The mac n cheese ball was crisp on the outside, but extremely hot and creamy on the inside. I've never had one like it. Delicious! My sister got a bruschetta sandwich, which also looked great. They serve sandwiches, mac n cheese balls, and fries here. One of the sandwiches even comes with a layer of mac n cheese on it! Wowza. I'd love to see them just serve straight up mac n cheese, and make the Italian without pepperoni be a regular menu item. Still though.. five stars form this cheese lover! read more

Food is mediocre at best at location or food truck, Did get an added bonus watching the owners fight though! Employees are either dimwitted, just don't care or both! Just saw today that they have "borrowed" the pretzel bread idea from another restaurant in town. Guess you have to do what you have to do when your loosing it fast! read more

Even though there's only one way into Kimmswick, my daughter and I headed out to try your restaurant today! Can I just say, it was well worth it!! The popper grilled cheese was AMAZING!!! I will be back!!! read more

The lobster melt gave me food poisoning to the point I am in the hospital getting fluids for dehydration. Not sure about the other options but I will not be returning. This is going on the 3rd day with an upset stomach, nausea, and vomiting. read more

The food was mediocre and overpriced. The blonde woman who took our order seemed snotty. The next time I'm around them I'll pick a different food truck. read more

What a awesome food truck! The best food truck I've tried!! So many cheesy sandwiches to choose from. Went with the popper, ( smoked bacon/cream cheese/pepper jack/jalapeños/spicy chipotle) amazing!! Like really !! The other sandwich I tried was raspberry chipotle turkey melt w pepper jack cheese on sour dough. Good. Popper was better tho. Brushetta melt will be my next try, many were raving about that one. The loaded tots were generously piled & tasty! Hope they stop back at work on a regular basis ! read more

I walked to this truck today for lunch specifically for the tots! My co-worker came back with her container of bacon tots FULL of tots worthy of a $5 price tag so naturally that's what got me...and the smell of freshly fried greasy goodness EVERYTHING about her's was what I wanted once I placed my order & walled back. Upon placing my order, there was another woman who ordered the bacon tots too. My order was first to come out & then her's followed. I was handed a fresh container of tots and looked in to see what was a partially filled order of tots...15 to be exact...covered in cheese sauce and a smidge of scallion on top. At that point I WISHED I could've seen what the other ladies order looked like. My guess is the Cheese Truck ran outta tots & split what they were working with between our 2 orders instead of saying they ran out from the lunch rush today. The one saving grace is that cheese sauce is REALLY GOOD!And I'll probably go back for MORE! read more

The Cheese Shack - WHERE'S the rest of my tots!? I asked for no bacon NOT realizing it would result in 15 tots total the cheese sauce is good tho - Food Trucks Near Me

I had the bruschetta melt (with the added bacon, of course), and it was nothing short of amazing. I will definitely visit this food truck any time I see it, because after my experience, I absolutely must try more! I would give it more stars if it were possible! read more

My husband and I got their Hot Italian the other day and have been craving it ever since! The bread was awesome, which to me makes a huge difference in a sandwich. Great food and a great price! We will definitely be finding them again the next time we are in STL. read more

Kinda pricey for the flavorless mac n cheeseballs. Had the inside out bacon. it was just ok . The roast beef though was delicious I'll come back for that .. the tator tots nothing special. Really smokey n hot inside akso.. read more

I Gotta say this was by far one of the worst experiences i've had in a long time i ordered the mac and cheese balls as an appetizer and it was overly greasy and on top of that i also ordered the inside out bacon and it aswell was overly greasy i am surprised that for a drink i wasn't served a cup of oil i strongly do not recommend it to anyone read more

We tried the lobster melt-pretty pricey @ $13 for fake lobster, but it was still a good sandwich. Lots of cheese, grilled perfectly, but would not order it again. Will plan to try other items the next time we run across this eatery. read more

The Bruschetta melt is PERFECTION, and the tots are always crispy. This truck has perfect service, simple but insanely flavorful food, and did I mention the crispy tots? Don't miss this truck, better then most and just the right amount of food for the money. This truck is a winner! read more

Ordered a Turkey Melt on grilled Sourdough bread, from their Food Truck downtown today. Great sandwich!! There are many options of sandwiches that it was a challenge for me to decide. Apparently they are famous for their Tots, with different variations. read more

The Cheese Shack food truck came to my neighborhood for an event and holy cow, did it deliver on what we were hoping. The truck itself is bright and looks very clean which is a nice way to start and the staff was also extremely friendly, even with the crush of people wanting to try their food. We ordered many items off the menu to try: The Big Pig, The White Cheddar Bacon, The Turkey Raspberry, The Beef Melt, The Italian Sandwich and the Pork and Loaded Tater Tots. If that all sounds like a lot of food, it was. Especially when you see the food in person. The sandwiches are enormous. The Big Pig combines macaroni and cheese and pulled pork into one of the tastiest sandwiches that I've ever had. My son ate TWO White cheddar Bacons (he had this sandwich in the past and knew he wanted more of it). The Italian had just the perfect amount of spice to it. The Turkey Raspberry was a really pleasant surprise as I typically do not like fruit with my meat but this was a perfect combination on this sandwich. The Beef melt had a garlic aioli on it that absolutely made the sandwich. It was a terrific melding of flavors! But then, the tots. Oh man, the tots. I could eat MOUNTAINS of these tots. They were both extremely generous portions. The Pork tots were a revelation. Huge chunks of pulled pork with a tangy sauce over tots and covered in a cheese sauce. The Loaded tots were covered in cheese sauce, bacon, and green onion. Somehow, the tots stayed crispy and perfect underneath. I cannot wait until the next time I get to enjoy the Cheese Shack. Do yourself a favor and seek them out. The food is so reasonably priced and the taste is unbelievable. You owe it to yourself! read more

Although I did enjoy the food, I found out that the employees receive 0% of the tips that are given. I was angered to hear this as most customers figure they tip employees, not the owner. read more

It's tough to find food that's delicious, simple and fast, and even more difficult to find food like this from a truck. I first spotted the yellow Cheese Shack truck headed north on 55 one morning and I headed to the internet to know more. A few days later I found the truck at Wells Fargo and was greeted by a young lady who took my order for a Big Pig (a grilled sandwich of sweet pork and macaroni and cheese) and a fried Mac and Cheese ball. I could see the guy cooking was the same guy I'd seen driving the truck a few days before and I could see him preparing my sandwich and fried Mac and Cheese. It was ready in about three minutes and appetizingly presented. This was a hand-holdable sandwich and not a monster by any means yet it was bulging with meat and melted cheese smothered over soft macaroni noodles. I slowed myself while eating it to make the cheesy pleasure last longer but when I finished the sandwich I still had the Mac and Cheese ball to devour. Somehow I expected it to be dry but instead it was crisp on the outside with freshly melted cheese inside; the cheese must melt while *in* the fryer. Genius! Unfortunately I work nowhere near to where The Cheese Shack sets up and yet I find myself making at least a weekly trip to find it. Check the photo I'll upload for an idea of their menu. Keep on melting, Cheese Shack! read more

Visited this truck on a whim during a Food Truck Friday and I am so glade I did. Tried a melty turkey sandwich which was wonderful. Quality cheese and bread used and most appreciated. I also tried the pulled pork and cheese tater tots. Certainly not a health conscious item but honestly worth every artery clogging moment. Can't wait to visit the Cheese Shack again. read more

The food was gross! Greasy.. I had their 'famous' Bruschetta.. really? It had tasteless cheese, greasy fried bread and a sirup on the top... The guy had the Buffalo chicken, it was also greasy and the chicken and sauce were tasteless.. We BOTH had upset stomachs that night .. and that was all we ate... I would not recommend this at all.. and really the truck looked dirty.. it all tasted like a greasy spoon. read more

The cheese Shack has some really delicious food and is rather fast. I was there with my co-workers J, TD and TB and they all really like there food especially TD, and J. The only issue i was not able to sample there fried mac and cheese you cant really not sell what you're known for that's crazy talk! read more

I am only rating 2 stars today, because I have been disappointed on more than one occasion that your truck advertises mac and cheese balls but each event I have been at (Twilight Tuesday) you are sold out. When I found out your were coming to a booking today, I was excited and the third person in line. Unfortunately, you sold out after the first 2 people (who only ordered at least 4 orders of mac and cheese balls). Your reason was, sorry it takes 2 days to make, but I am disappointed because the truck was booked last month. I didn't even want to try a sandwich after that. read more

The Mac & Cheese balls are good. Don't underestimate their ability to fill you up. Tried the Big Pig BBQ Mac & Cheese on Texas Toast was good. Hope to try the inside out Bacon Sandwich. read more

I will say I got my first taste of this food truck at Food Truck Friday in Towergrove Park. I ordered the Hot Italian and was very impressed. It was like pizza in a sandwich. My only reason for the 4 not 5 is that when we showed up at 4:30 they were no where near ready, but kept saying just a few more minutes while every other truck's line was moving quickly and efficiently. read more

I'm currently eating the Brusheta Melt right now, and it is awesome! Unlike other cheese sandwhiches I've had, the flavor is amazing, and it's not bogged down with too much oil/butter. On top of that, the service is great - someone asked to change their order midway through The Shack making it, and full refund, no problem! I'll definitely be back. read more

Not sure if this is always on the menu, but the Buffalo Chicken Melt is amazing. So are the loaded tots.

I had the Bruschetta melt with Bacon, let me tell you it was pretty perfect. The cheese was great, melty but not too stringy and the bread had a perfect crust. It comes with a balsamic sauce on top that adds just the right sweetness to off set the bacon's saltiness. They serve their sandwiches with a little cup of tomato soup that is pretty good as well. The staff are courteous and helpful, overall one of the best food trucks I have dined at. read more

We had the amazing Buffalo Melt, grilled cheese with bacon and awesome tots at Chesterfield Trucktober today. Have to try it!!!

a cheese lovers dream come true. these aren't any old lunchbox sandwiches and paired with something called a mac and cheese ball. yum! so mac and cheese balls are exactly what they sound like. it's a ball of mac and cheese (covered in breadcrumbs?) that is fried subsequently dipped into marinara sauce and eaten. what a wonderful idea! this is another food truck that takes credit cards and comes by WashU med-be on the look out! read more

My company hosted The Cheese Shack food truck today for lunch, They were very friendly and the bruschetta sandwich was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. It was served on the most amazing bread with a sweet balsamic drizzle. It was hot, crunchy, and made my taste buds sing until the very last bite! My only disappointment was that the mac and cheese balls were so popular that they were sold out by the time I got out there (I was one of their last customers for the day), but I can't wait to try them next time! read more

I'd give this a higher rating, but unfortunately except for the very first time I tried them a year ago at a company picnic, I have yet to have seen the same ridiculously delicious bacon grilled cheese with cheese inside and out on the menu. If they have it, this is a 5, but when I run in to them and they don't have it, I'm left disappointed. I think I had some kind of a pizza grilled cheese and it was ok, but the bacon is what gets me excited about this truck. read more
