Everything is nicely packaged and labeled with ingredients. The popcorn, available in both sweet and savory flavors, tastes great--much better than that break-your-teeth stuff you can buy in bulk at the grocery store. Around $3-$6 for a small bag that one person could finish by himself, the offerings are pricey. Again, I only shop here for special occasions. I love that they also carry a small selection of specialty sodas. I drink pop almost never, but if I see a unique flavored pop in a bottle, I'm suddenly all about it. Here I've found Jones Soda flavors I've never seen before. They also sell greeting cards. See? A very present-friendly place. I've always received excellent customer service. The employees are friendly and available to answer questions. You are able to sample any of their popcorn flavors. I do wish they were more proactive about serving their caramel apples though. I bought one and asked "Can you cut it up?" The employee responded, "Yes, that's how I'd eat it." You missed my point, sir; I wanted to know if you could physically cut my apple so that I could conveniently eat it on my way home. Oh well.

I really like this supermarket close to downtown Kalamazoo…read more I also THANK the owners for keeping a grocery store in a central city area. Too many cities and towns across the nation have suffered loss of their central grocers, with none to replace them *nearby*. (A WalMart on the far outskirts of town does not count.) Bravo and kudos to these folks. The store is spiffy clean. It's well-stocked and organized. Also, special displays don't block aisles (and customers) to shout "Look at me! Buy me!" as now happens in too many grocery stores. Hate all that clutter: Makes it harder for people to get past one another in aisles. Stores that do that are using grocer- (instead of customer-) centered marketing. Most workers efficient and helpful, though there can be a little longer wait at the service desk than at other grocers. That's partly because more customers need the special services offered there (e.g. check cashing). All groceries I bought there have been fine, although I have avoided the fresh meat because other people have said to avoid it. But pre-packaged processed meat there (like hot dogs, bacon) have always been fine. Dairy too.

We meal prep every week and Mr. MVP packs a lunch and snacks, so he has not had to buy a lunch in years, but every so often it is nice to join the people in his office for a quick walk outside to grab a coffee or a snack. When City Centre Market opened we really did not think anything about it because normal delis are just that, delis full of deli food with sugar and carbohydrates. City Centre is very different. First of all, for the sugar and carb eaters, City Centre has a bakery and a small grocery line with pasta, soda, rice, ice cream, and chips, so do not panic. For the ketoers, however, City Centre is pretty spectacular. They have a huge selection of sugar free and low carb foods. They carry a lot of salami, meat, and cheese, as well as pickles, pre-packed hard boiled eggs and bulk nuts. They also have Halo Top and Quest brand frozen pizza and snacks. There is a full salad bar and coffee bar along with produce from the Food Co-Op. City Centre has kitchen and home essentials like laundry detergent and soap as well as lotion and baby wipes. They also have a small selection of dog and cat treats and food. Their facebook page lists the following: Sandwiches toasted or cold Full Espresso bar with Nitro Cold Brew Breakfast Sandwiches Smoothie Bar made with Fresh Fruits, Vegetables, and coconut water 100% vegan. Nutrition-boost available ( Açaí powder, Chia Seeds, Maca Powder, Hemp Seeds) Salad Bar set by 8AM Fresh Soups (4 rotating varieties daily) Fresh baked goods Specialty Cheese with cheese from all over the world Baked or steamed options on the hot bar Meal Solutions choose 1 protein and 2 sides for $10 We also learned that they are offering downtown local employees 10% off their meal purchase for the next few months. We dropped by on Saturday morning and left with a bottled water, some cheese, salami and pickles for our morning snack. The owner came out to thank us for stopping in and the employee who checked us out was friendly and helpful. Mr. MVP is happy to have a healthy and convenient option right on the downtown mall and on a busy week it might take the pressure off meal prep every so often.

It came with a little cup of pickled veggies, which I enjoyed. I had a bite of the pizza, which was very tasty! The prices were great - I think my sandwich was $7.50. We also got some pastries for dessert - I chose the cherry danish, and Nate got the pistachio croissant. Both were very tasty and not too sweet. The vibe of this bakery is more old-school and homey than some of the more "trendy" bakeries that I'm used to - not a bad thing, just a little different.
