I stayed here Labor Day weekend and got sick from mold in the room it's been a month. The manager said someone will call but after calling them several times no response. worst experience I've ever had was at this hotel I was sleeping only to be woken up by a tickling on my arm I looked down and it was bedbugs and what looked like a little centipede immediately had clerk come to my room where he saw them as well. I also got of them the next day I awaited for the manager to call me so I could get a refund. I did get a refund and an offer on a discount on a room, another time and a appetizer. Cute hotel in a cute area close to downtown. Not close enough to walk to the restaurants or nightlife. My room was not nice though. Peeling wallpaper and my view was on the attic overlooking a parking lot. We had drinks and the cranberry Moscow mule was delicious. The room was lovely, however, no one alerted us you need to put a sign on your door for service, although housekeeping came in and put on ragged bath mat in the bathroom and gave us a roll of TP, there were glasses from the previous night and overflowing garbage neither of which was dealt with. Parking is a nightmare on the weekends for guests of hotel, the restaurant gets busy and there are no spots if you come between 6-8. The restaurant: A "three" at best, pasta swimming in a sea of olive oil, crab cake served with olives, the flavors don't help each other. They seem to be trying too hard, not a memorable meal. The bartender was great and helpful. Overall, for $400+ bucks a night we should have gone somewhere else. Not a wonderful experience. I also asked upon check out for a bill sent to my email, none arrived within 2 days, so I called, they checked spelling of my email and said it would go out in the morning, again nothing for 2 days, again I called. You should not have to ask for a billing statement 3 times. read more

This is a cute little hotel with super nice staff. The layout was easy to navigate and we had a room on the third floor this hotel. The room was very quiet which was nice and it had cute amenities. I liked the bathrobes and the fact that they had qtips and cotton balls in the bathrooms. The mirror in the bathroom was heated so that you could still see yourself after taking a hot shower. The beds were comfortable and the linens were ok. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because you can tell the wear and tear on this hotel. Peeling wallpaper, stains in carpets that wouldn't come out and extra silicon in the showers where they must've had leaks. read more

One of the most charming and unique hotel we have visited: The exterior is original 1892 brick and stone. The inside is renovated to an eclectic mix of vintage and modern with no two rooms being the same. Not any better than a Holiday inn. 1st room we got (rm #207) had bugs on windowsill, then awoke to them literally on my bed. Should've know when the floor needed to be vacuumed (& the AC didn't allow it lower than 70 & it was warm).... Ewwww. I told the 2 guys @ desk & showed video of crawling bugs next morning. Next day switched to another room on 3rd floor (. Literal brown drip stain from seat to floor - in the front of the white toilet.... oh & the toilet seat is loose, so it shifts ....plus toilet paper on floor & stains on bedroom rug. Plus ... Its warm as Hell and it says 72. It will not permit us to go lower (" thermostat limit"). Thank God I bring Lysol wipes and it's our last night. What an end to a sister trip ..... Wait - not the end. Can't make this up. Bat in our room? After 2am awoke to a flying bat... where did it friggin come from? 3rd room appears ok, but it's been less than 2 hours. Friendly staff at front desk sweetly apologizes each time. UPDATE 7/7/21: Laura, the General Mgr reached out to me. She sincerely apologized & refunded our 2 night stay. Normally we don't require much in a hotel since to us, the trip is what you do and not where you stay. I saw pictures of this place and read other reviews, and we were looking for a hotel while staying in Concord because I had a class. My wife agreed with me and we opted to stay someplace nice. The rooms are spacious, we ended up getting a suite on the third floor that was attached to one of the turrets. It was awesome being able to sit with a 270 degree view of Pleasant Street. There were a ridiculous amount of televisions, three of them in the room (bedroom, living room, and dining room). Other amenities were iron & ironing board, cable television, WiFi, telephone, refrigerator, nightstands with lights, bureau, soaps/shampoo/conditioner/lotion, towels, and bathrobes with slippers! The bed was very comfortable, I was able to get a decent nights sleep while here. Everything about this Hotel was relaxing. It was a little cubby area in the back on the first floor, but there was a computer available to guests to use with printer. I thought that was quite nice and helpful. The staff were very pleasant and the whole building is beautiful. Oh, my favorite part was the cookies! This sounds stupid, but every afternoon there was a fresh baked pair of cookies on the bureau left in your room. They were always something different and made the stay more memorable. read more

Was looking for a room for 1 night as we were in town for the Hillsborough Balloon festival in early July. Thanks to my trusty Yelp community I came across The Centennial. Upon arrival we were not sure if we were in the right place as the entrance and parking lot are around the back of the building. The check-in process was smooth and seamless. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cozy. The beds were incredible! I could only wish my bed at home was that comfortable. After being out for the evening we returned to 2 homemade cookies which was a very kind gesture. There is a restaurant located in the hotel that we didn't have a chance to try but it looked very classy. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Centennial to anyone who is looking for an upscale yet affordable place to stay in Concord. read more

Sad. We had a spontaneous thought and decided to stay a night at a hotel. We went to Hotwire to determine the best deal and location cause neither of us are great at finalizing a decision like that. When we finished our transaction we went immediately to this hotel to check out our room and we were excited that we did such a spontaneous thing. Sadly we were told the "supposed" great restaurant was closed due to Covid. Ok we understood so we went out to eat somewhere local. Upon returning to our room we discovered that we had NO amenities in our room, no soap, no lotions, no cups for water, nothing. We called down to the lobby and we were given one set.... we are 2 people expected to share soap shampoo and conditioner... hmmm that's not good. In the middle of the night, I woke up to use the restroom and discovered we had less than a quarter roll left, that's ok there probably was another roll in the closet. Ahhh NOPE!!! No more toilet paper!! WTH? So when we woke up it was clear hanging out in the room before checking out wasn't an option! We could have called down to the lobby but at this point why bother? So we went downstairs in hopes for at least a breakfast continental style like most hotels do, even I. The pandemic most have some options for breakfast... sadly no. Would I stay there again? No sadly we will not. Will we recommend this place? No. We spent a sizable amount of money in hopes for a relaxing night away from the chaos of Christmas shopping and houseful of people only to kinda wish we didn't waste that money. When we checked out, that asked about our stay, and we were honest about our disappointment and embarrassed that we had no toilet paper in the room and luckily we had napkins that came with the left overs we had from the dinner before. They seemed concerned about our experience but offered NO condolences... not the greatest thing to do for someone that was a potential new customer.. instead the concierge asked the housekeeping manager about why there was no amenities or toilet paper and all she had to say was "we don't leave that in the rooms anymore, due to Covid" and my response was, " Even when you know you are booking a room that day?" She said well you booked after my team cleaned the room". That is NO excuse. And terrible customer service! No thank you, we will not return. Sad. read more

We had high expectations for our stay at the Centennial based on the fantastic photos the hotel presents (fabricates?) on its website; however, we were extremely disappointed with our experience and feel the need to warn others about an extreme ripoff! Upon checking into our room, the entire bathroom door came off in my arms, hinge and all. The wall revealed it had been patched over and over. We asked to switch rooms and were told they were booked solid and could not do that. When we learned that they were sending maintenance to yet again wood fill the holes on the door, my husband paid a visit to the desk and asked to see a manager. There was no manager on premise, so he spoke to the HR person. She authorized a switch to the room next door. This new room's toilet wouldn't flush, so once again, maintenance was sent with a plunger which worked; however, the bathroom had this urine smell to it which we suspect was sewer gas. The floor behind the toilet had a huge rust stain around the piping. The entire room was dated - the carpets were stained, cobwebs were visible in the corners of the ceiling. It just left a feeling of "Don't touch anything." The carpets in the hallways of the hotel were severely wrinkled and stained. Some of the ceiling tiles in the hall looked like they were filled with water. It was just a gross ambience. The other annoying problem we had was each time we left the room and came back, the key wouldn't work. We had to visit the desk 3 times to ask the receptionist to rekey the key so we could enter our room. My husband asked if the manager would call us after the second time it happened and we never got a call. This place is so poorly managed and needs a serious update. When we checked out, nobody asked how our stay was. The receptionist just processed our credit card. Today, being the day after we checked out, I receive an email with a subject line "Thank You For Visiting." The entire body of the email explains that checkin is anytime after 3. It describes their on-site restaurant and that they look forward to welcoming us to Concord, NH. What the what????? This place needs some serious training in hospitality. My advice...stay elsewhere where the staff cares that you're spending $300 plus a night and is eager to ensure the value of your money meets your expectations. An eclectic and boutique style hotel, recently remodeled and adorable. We had our company party there last night and was wonderful. Katie at the Front Desk was very personable and Sue the Director of Sales was great. The food was delicious, the music was wonderful, and the intimate atmosphere made our night memorable. I would highly recommend staying there with someone you love or going for dinner. It makes you feel like you're in a high end restaurant in the City with small town service and prices. We picked the Centennial for our elopement. We had dinner in their private dining room and stayed the night before leaving for our honeymoon. We were in the Queen Turret room, and it was one of the most beautiful rooms I had ever stayed in. I wish we had been able to stay longer than one night! We're already planning to come back on our anniversary. All the staff were extremely kind and friendly, and the dinner and drinks at the Granite were also excellent. Top notch staff, Lucy at the front was absolutely top flight! A beautiful old building, with some sort of history involving the Civil War, newly renovated to a modern but warm hotel with terrific value for what you get. I highly recommend one of the suites in the turret if you've got the extra cabbage to part with. I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else whilst in Concorde New Hampshire. The "Live Free or Die" state (not just a saying) is a great place to be and stay made it that much better! read more

I can't help but notice that MANY of the five star reviews are from people who have gotten a free upgrade to a suite. I feel that this is akin to getting something for free. There is an INFINITE difference in PRICE and amenities between the regular rooms and the suites. Of course people are going to be head over heels to get a free upgrade! Keep this in mind, please. What I experienced was an outdated room with inadequate air ventilation and no windows that opened to the outside. The television was TINY. It could only be viewed from one of the two queen beds, and even then it was a stretch to see it from the queen bed directly in front of it. The TV is about 20 inches. There is no free premium channels, no wetbar or even cold water bottles. The free breakfast promised in the booking guide did not happen the next day because it was the weekend and Easter at that, so Brunch was served after our checkout time! So, no promised breakfast. Further, they held "incidentals" on my credit card even though there was NO ability to charge any incidentals--so why charge them? The room was stuffy and it was hard to breath due to inadequate ventilation system. The flooring was outdated and the only updated feature was a glass shower in the bath. This is not worth a room that retails for over 200.00 per night. I did not see ANY promised room service or other amenities advertised. If you are lucky enough to get an upgrade, you will probably be happy to get a suite for the cost of a room and perhaps you should ask if there are any upgrades available as I strongly disliked the room I was stuck in with no ventilation-neither heat nor air conditioning worked. The dining room was closed, the promised free breakfast didn't happen yet we were not advised of this. We didn't appreciate picking a place for all of these advertised amenities only to be given the bogus reason that no amenities would be available because it was Easter weekend. They should have warned customers in advance. Finally, if you like 20 inch TVs go for it, otherwise, the TV is useless. I feel that some people get upgrades and other amenities while some don't, as clearly demonstrated in the reviews. Don't pay for a five star hotel if you are going to be treated like we were and have amenities explained away while others have incredible suites for same price. read more

I just stayed here this past weekend for a wedding. I would probably give it a 4 or maybe 5 star because the hotel was nice, the employees were friendly and I generally liked the place. However, the A/C in our room didn't work, about problem shooting it with the person at the front desk, they said they would have the manager take care of it at 5pm and send someone up and it should be all set by the time when we get back from the wedding reception. This was not the case, we got back, the room was 77 degrees, and not terrible, but I had to sleep without covers and it wasn't a restful evening. Other wedding goers had similar issues and notified the front desk as well and all were ignored. I don't think it's that big of a deal, but the behavior exhibited by the staff is passive aggressive and the lack of notification of this or any kind of complementary gestures because they are charging for a room without A/C is a huge negative. I would have preferred to spend the night at less costly accommodations with air conditioning. read more

I made a reservation for this hotel over a month ago and received a confirmation. In addition, I had called in to ensure that my room was reserved. Four weeks after I made the initial reservation, the hotel suddenly called me and said that they took two large groups and that there is no more room for me in the hotel. I reminded them that this would be my wedding week and that I am staying with them for that reason, but it did not seem to matter. When I looked at their website, it shows that they work with travel agencies. I never really give one star reviews, but I feel that I need to warn the public that your reservation in this hotel might be canceled if they can get a better deal with a group that blocks multiple rooms in the hotel. Update (3 days later): hotel contacted me and helped me search for a comparable hotel in the area. Going to stay at The Colby Inn and the Centennial Hotel offered a meal at the hotel during our visit to NH. Updated star rating to 3 instead of my initial 1 star. read more

There were choices of sides like oatmeal or fruit, but I mean come on, whip up some crepes or breakfast sandwiches. This historic hotel is modern on the inside with beautiful rooms. We were upgraded to one of the turret suites and we couldn't get over how wonderful the setting was when looking out the third floor window of the turret. I never expected a stone shower and bathrobes. Macaroons instead of mints was another nice touch. This place is great value for the money. read more

Had a wonderful dinner at The Centennial Hotel and Granite Restaurant & Bar here in Concord last saturday night with friends. The food was out of this world! Best place to eat in the Concord area! Great service and in a small dinning room with a Boston bistro feel. I would recommend you dine at the Granite Restaurant & Bar any time, but especially if you have a birthday or anniversary celebration. My husband & I celebrated our upcoming 20th wedding anniversary and our server Nick was fantastic too. Book a reservation for it is busy on friday and sat nights. Great Martinis and 1/2 size portions options allowed us to sample the entire menu with out feeling too full at the end of the night! Bonus! read more

Upon arrival the very friendly third shift concierge checked ya in even though we didn't make it past midnight. From then on everything seemed fine until a maid knocked at like 8:30 am asking if we were still here. Check out is 11 am. They don't know we're here? It gets way way worse. So my girlfriend isn't feeling well and we're late checking out and I attempt to negotiate with new concierge but she won't budge wants a half day fee if we aren't gone by 11:45 so I'm like I don't see her being better by then. Ok fine they're cheap right? Nope now they decide to just walk into the freaking room no knock no clothes for real maid just like blushes and closes door. I'm out in car I'm so pissed off with them until I can calmly address situation. Do not come here it looks like an old old jail on outside and right across from a bunch of state offices. A night at the prison up the street would be more exciting and interesting to tell your friends about. I think checkouts not optional though. Ah life. read more

First off, I should say that our stay at the Centennial was lovely. We stayed there during our wedding weekend in August and our guests reserved about a dozen more rooms. The rooms are very nice and the staff was accommodating throughout the weekend. The bar is great and the food in the restaurant is very good. The only frustration we had, and it was a significant one, was in the lead up to the weekend. Our guests were constantly telling us that there were problems with their reservations. They would call to add or subtract a night and find out that their original reservation had never been entered. Somehow my mom's reservation was merged with a friend's. When we asked for the list of people who had reserved under our room block, we found lots of problems and it took multiple attempts to fix them. The hotel was nearly booked that weekend and I was worried that people were going to show up and there wouldn't be a room for them. In the end, it all went really smoothly, but it caused us a lot of unnecessary stress. read more

Website very user friendly, offering packages for breakfast, dimner and we took advantage of a AAA discount, thank you. What is lacking is the staff's comprehension of guests experience aa all aspects of the amenities and services are collectivy one. After check in we wanted to enjoy a cocktail at the bar around 5:30; we sat for 12-15 minutes without acknowledgement, so we heaeded out. Having purchased the breakfast package at the time of reservation, we were told we couldnt be seated, aa the room was full and the staff too busy. Pushing back, they eventually agreed to their chagrin as it waa made clear to us that walk in dining customers are higher priority than overnight guests. These details were reiterated to the desk manager this morning. Another strange assumption that the night clerk made when we checked in was that we would want an upgrade to a room with two beds. This getaway for a weekend out of town was meant to be a romantic escape and I booked a room with one bed for a reason. While the room we were given was probably more spacious than a standard room, I do think it peculiar that the night clerk wouldnt ask if we wanted to be uograded to a room with two beds, but perhaps this is semantics. One last mention is exterior appearance that could be improved quite simply to make a great first impression- remove fallen leaves and cigarette butts from the stairs leading into this somewhat fine establishment. read more
