My son wasn't down with the vibe from the moment we got in. He saw the slanty bowls, says "I don't mean to be negative, but I hate it!" We ordered immediately when our waters came. The seared tuna was over seasoned. I did enjoy the salad. But after waiting for over an hour, I asked if I could get the shrimp and grits, as we had somewhere we needed to be. About that time, someone came out of the kitchen, tried to give me a cheeseburger. I let him know it wasn't for me. "It's for the band! This is where the band is supposed to sit." The Bays has a chic, fun, family friendly atmosphere that's also popular for dates and parties, while The Cellar has a more upscale vibe. Both have delicious food: The Bays has classics like burgers, and fun appetizers. The Cellar has a sophisticated of steaks and such. I cannot make my mind up which I like better! It was absolutely horrible! Menu had French onion soup on it and they didn't have any, They said they forgot to change their menu. We ordered a steak flatbread. It was actually steak ems on some flatbread and we asked for NO blue cheese and they put cheese on it anyway and the meal was cold and disgusting. They didn't offer to take it off of our bill. The lady asked how was my ceviche, I said it was OK because it was not great and she goes. Oh well we arent a Mexican restaurant and walks Off. We chose to sit inside and were able to be seated immediately at 7:00 PM (table of three). We just had waters, I got the fish and chips, my sister got the Fried Chicken Sandwich, and my friend got the Chicken, Apple, and Brie sandwich. Overall the food was good. I think if they could improve on a couple things, the waitstaff seemed very short staffed, we needed more waters and sauces but ended up just getting our checks instead of waiting. We also were sitting in a table close to the bar and people were standing right behind us we couldn't move freely and people were cutting around our table to get through the restaurant. Had to request bar drinks several times. Noticed a table that came in and ordered after us was served their meals and I asked about our food's status. I was told it was being plated right now. After 10 minutes I asked again and was finally told that there were 40 people on their patio and an order for 12 burgers got between our order. That made no sense since the table that ordered after us should have been delayed. Poor communication and a 90 minute wait for food turned this visit into an ordeal. It was perfectly cooked, moist but firm and not undercooked, perfectly seasoned, and fresh off the grill. They must pay a premium for their quality produce and meats. We started at a gourmet burger place across the street but the wait for a table for two at that place was nearly an hour. We decided to see what the wait was like at The Cellar. It was only 10 minutes, so we stayed there. We both ordered the Wild Game Burger with fries, and loved it! If I remember right, it was a mash-up of bison, elk, and boar. We ordered it medium and every bite was so juicy and tasty! The fries were so delicious that we ordered another batch of them to share. Our table was on the outdoor patio. Receiving starts based on food quality and the kindness of our waitress, lacking stars because of price, atmosphere, and wait time. I'm starting off by saying our service was incredibly nice and was very attentive, it seems like none of the issues were her fault. However, my wife and I were in here on a Friday night, and waited over 45 minutes from ordering our food to receiving it. I've had previous experiences here with long wait times, with each seeming to get longer waiting on food and drinks but this was far and away the longest. When we received the food, it was good, nothing extraordinary but nothing to write home about either. Our bill after tax/tip was right at $100. For chips and dip, a plate of pasta, a sandwich, and one glass of wine? Seems a bit steep for bar food..... The ambiance was very confusing- they had a band going that was very loud and made it hard to converse. They were good though and fun to listen to, but it just seems like the Cellar can't decide what it wants to be. They have pricing of an upscale restaurant but service and atmosphere of a Friday night dive. My wife and I enjoy spending time together paying a good price for a nice meal , and we also enjoy a Friday night out listening to music and sharing bar food. The only issue was the live music, although the music was good it was much too loud. We had dinner here tonight and it was great. The staff were wonderful, and we loved the vibe of the place. They have an enclosed open air space, with heaters, and an outdoor front area with heaters. The menu had several specialty items. What we ordered but didn't get pictures of: Brie quesadilla, lobster bisque and pretzel with pub cheese. It was all DELICIOUS. Our entrees came out perfect. The only complaint I would have is the tables, for four, really aren't big enough for everyone's meals, drinks and salads; we made it work. The caramel lava cake was decadent. read more

I'll keep it short and sweet. Food is very ordinary and the menu is limited. This is supposed to be a nice restaurant but clearly has much to improve. Staff was uninterested in customers. My husband had a terrible beer and returned and ordered another but was charged for both. The steaks were just ok. The salad was the best part of the meal. No dessert and paid $150 for a meal I could have done better at home. I was told they share a kitchen with The Bays (outdoor restaurant adjacent). my $18 margarita came after my food it was only filled 2/3 full and was made with a pre mix (which is fine but not when your charging that much). My $13 very small wedge salad had brown pieces in it and the tomatoes where getting soft and slimy plus the bacon tasted as if it was cooked a few days ago. The only other thing I had was sweet potatoes fries and they were store bought but decent. all in all there's way better places to go in downtown Newnan for lunch. I was by myself and my bill (for a side salad, side of fries and crappy margarita) was $42. I don't mind paying for quality, but that was far from quality. The food was good, but not spectacular. And not too many light options on the menu. Everything was very rich. My salmon and crab had toooo much salt and garlic. Over-spicing the food drowned out the rest of the flavors. I would go back to The Cellar and try something different on the menu. If you're eating here, I recommend sitting inside. Their service outside is just god awful, even before COVID and restrictions. Their food is very good, but the indoor menu is way better. If you're looking to just get drinks, try to sit actually at the bar. That's the only way you're drinks won't run out. When they do have live music, the stage is very close to the tables, so it can get really loud. Love the atmosphere though. A nice place for a summer dinner. read more

However in early evening, the glare from the front window made it difficult to see others at our table. The service: Our server was attentive and kept our drinks filled. However, we were never told about the specials of the day and they had just replaced their menu with a much pared down one today. When asked about sides (which weren't on the new menu), she was able to recite them for us. The food: Some of the food was really good - the chicken for example, but some of the food not so much. After a long hard week of work my wife and I were looking for a good cocktail and good food but in a casual atmosphere. Long story short; I tried a "New Old Fashioned" and my wife ordered a martini from their signature cocktails menu. Not good. Actually really bad. We ordered a bowl of broccoli soup and it was pretty good. Then, we split the shrimp and grits. Way too rich- and it was served in bowls that you can't really rest your Utensils on; instead you have to lay them on the table. Long story short we spent nearly $100 and walked just up the street to Meat N Greet to get a good cocktail and more food to fulfill our appetites because we didn't enjoy our previous meal enough to finish. I am a foodie; and can say that I am truly amazed how many restaurants in the downtown area are given such high ratings! Trust me; we want to like the food but having a hard time finding anything worth a crap here since moving to Newnan. You'd think you could find decent BBQ but if Oink Joint and Spayberry's are the Choices then we are going to need to travel for some goodness or just continue to make it in the backyard the way it is supposed to be made.
