Quite frankly, I didn't know what to expect when I plucked "The Alamo" out of my "what to do in Newnan, GA Google search. Turns out, it's an old theatre that has been converted into a bar/restaurant type of place. Ok, I'm interested, I hear you say. There's a fully stocked bar, friendly staff, a decent menu and all the ambiance of a theatre, minus the amphitheater seating. They have been replaced with more suitable tables and chairs. The performance stage is still intact and on the Sunday night I was there, it was open mic for anyone bold enough to take the stage. I had a good look and around, while I enjoyed a draft Guinness and the musical entertainment. I definitely recommend this place, if you're about the Newnan, GA area. read more

I must of missed the memo, why does this place have 4 stars? Between the subpar food and lack of inclusivity during trivia night I'm not understanding the 4 stars the math ain't mathing. I was interested in going to have a night out and enjoy trivia. I came on there Thursday trivia night and felt a lot of the trivia questions were geared towards a older crowd. It was music trivia. It was our first time and I was disappointed. I'm not sure if there trying to maintain a older demographic but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be. The food lacked flavor. We had the tasteless garlic knots. It was no garlic flavor it was just doughy and it was sitting in butter. The chicken tender we also ordered was ok , nothing special it comes with fries or tots. The customer service was good, they constantly check on you to see if you need anything. It's a inviting place, just eat before you go there. If you bring your appetite, your leaving with it. I feel like I want to try it on a different night to give it another chance but I'm not in a rush. read more

We've only been to Alamo's a couple of times before tonight but we won't be going back. The service was not great. One of our party received his food after everyone else had finished eating. Then we got the bill. We had ordered a couple of bottles of "house wine". The charge was $42 per bottle of wine. It turns out the wine listed on the menu was $42. The wine we were served was a $5 bottle of cheap wine. We took pictures of the brand listed on the menu and the wine we were served. A total ripoff. The waiter said that he was the manager and could do nothing to resolve the issue. He refused to let us talk to the owner and refused to have him contact us. To top it off, our 17 -year -old grandson was harassed by the bartender because we didn't leave a tip. read more

Eli was absolutely incredible with Brooke as bartenders. I'm a hard of hearing disabled veteran and they did everything they could to accommodate me. The service was absolutely fantastic and I felt at home being here for the first time. We used my notes on my phone to communicate back and forth and I didn't feel judged or out of place. Let me start off by saying that Terry is the best. Okay, I'm glad I got that off my chest. My crew and I were getting back from looking at the Christmas lights, and we were starving and it was late. Not many places were open, and the burger place that we were planning on going to was closed for a private event. Well, my trusty Yelp app lead me here and my friend said that this place is really good. So, obviously we went. We were the only ones here at like 9-10 pm, besides the very few people at the bar. So, service was very fast. I love the atmosphere and how they transformed the theater into a restaurant and bar. If I lived around the area, I would love to take my friends here. Well, I don't live in the area and I want to take my friends here. Let's talk about the food. Everyone really enjoyed the food. Two people had a side order of their Jerk chili, recommended by Terry. The western BBQ burger, Southern Slam, calzone and I got the Teriyaki wing. Throughout the meal, Terry came to chat with us and made sure we were completely taken care of. I came in for some pizza to go during Covid times. It was a really yummy pizza and the staff is great. The space is a really cool addition to downtown Newnan. It's very well preserved (formerly was Newnans movie theater). If rented out, I could see some really awesome events occurring in the space. It's just really cool!! I have been to this beauty of a place on the Square in Downtown Newnan a few times to grab a beer or light appetizers. Last month, I was there, and did not realize I accidentally left a small credit card holder at the bar. I kept looking for it at home, figuring it would turn up there. There had been no activity on any of my cards, so put it in the back of my mind, figuring it would turn up eventually. Sean Stewart (the manager) went to the trouble to look me up on FB, got in touch with me via FB Messenger, and informed me someone had turned it in, and to come pick it up at my convenience, it was in the safe at the Alamo. I went yesterday to pick it up, asking for Sean. He welcomed me, and grabbed the wallet out of the office safe. When I got home, I looked inside, on top of all my credit cards, I also had $100 in cash in it; (which I had completely forgotten about). Good manager, good folks here at the Alamo. Gives you hope in today's world to know that people will still do the right thing. Thanks for continuing to make Newnan a great place to live/work and play! This place is an original. It has a nice long bar, tables and roomy booths. It has a pool table too which is nice. The stage is very cute and personal. It has lots of local bands and worth checking out. The place is laid back. We had our wedding reception there and it was perfect for a group of about 50. They were really helpful in suggesting bands. We weren't planning on coming but ended up here on a Tuesday afternoon because one of our normal spots was closed. It was relatively slow since it was a Tuesday but the service and food was excellent. Our server (Anya) was great as well as the rest of the staff. It's hard to miss because it's located on the corner of the bustling square in historic Newnan. It looks like it used to be a theater. Upon entrance, there was no one there to greet us and we sat down at a random table for a good five minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Only one waitress/bartender was working. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was a typical bar vibe. All in all, the drinks are very decently priced and not watered down at all. They were delicious! The food was good, but overall, it tasted rather greasy. My tomato basil soup tasted like vodka sauce. The thin crust pizza was really good and one slice in addition to the soup filled me up. We like to frequent this establishment on Tuesday nights for trivia with our favorite trivia host DJ Erok. The servers are super attentive (you will often find more than one helping you) and we often find sitting on the Alamo side to be more our style without the ruckus of children from the pizza side. My personal favorite pizza here is the Loaded Baked Potato pizza. It has a white sour cream based sauce, potatoes, bacon and loads of delicious cheese. If for some reason I'm not getting a whole pizza, I opt for a calzone or their yummy Greek salad. My husband can't get enough of their loaded tots and their Mighty Meaty pizza as the sausage they use has a nice kick of flavor. They've recently redone the floors, sprucing the old girl up a bit!! read more

A Newnan favorite of mine! I'm here every trivia night an have a great time. The bartenders are great and the atmosphere is unique since it's an old theater. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about with the ventilation because it's no smoking. Maybe once upon a time people smoked but no more. Great service - our server remembers us every time we go in and they make sure you always have everything you need. Excellent wall of beer selections. These guys can recommend something new based on your criteria and I've found a number of new brews I'd never heard of before that I really liked. Most nights offer karaoke for the brave that are ready to walk up on stage at this old movie house. Huge space that is great for large groups. Be cautious about a Friday night $5 cover for local bands. The last time we were there the two man acoustic set droned through sad Sting songs. Silver Strike arcade game can keep you there for hours. Alamo doesn't offer food but there is a pizza place directly next door that will deliver to your table and it's pretty tasty. read more

Surprised a bar like this can even remain open. It had the potential to be a bar of substance residing in an old movie theater. Bar tenders and managers are rude and don't like new business. They were catering to a poker night but had no interest in any new business. They are trying to be taco Mac without the big beer list or amount of TV's. Great casual bar. If you are looking for a place with good bands and a dance floor with good drinks and friendly people this is a good place to go. They have good drinks , good bands and clean bathrooms. The prices for drinks are a little high but beer is priced right! They have a cover charge when a band is there so be prepared to pay for that. Its a t-shirt and jeans kind of place The parking is hit or miss because they are located on the square its difficult to find a good parking space unless you drive around over and over so usually you will need to park a few blocks away. They don't allow smoking and there is no deck or patio so you need to go out to bench outside near by. I like this place and the history of it being and old theater is so cool. read more

The 5 stars are for the service itself . We constantly had everyone checking in on us as a team. As soon as we sat down service was immediately rendered, which was great especially for it to be crowded on a Saturday night. We ordered pizza from Fibano's which was pretty good. They wait time wasn't long for the food , or the bar. The wait for drinks less than 5 mins, for food about 30mins . They were hosting karaoke on a Saturday night and the place was jam packed . They still managed to pull off excellent customer service by making sure their guests were all good . read more

Really good atmosphere good food and good drinks. The only thing bad really is the staff can be kind of snobby and their drinks are a little over priced. One night they were doing a cover charge for charity for one of the employees family members medical issues (cant remember what) and it was 10 dollars a person i was a dollar short and the guy turned us away. It was rude to ask for help covering the cost of someones medical expenses and then demanding a certain price. I was very happy to help but being a dollar short and being told very rudely that 9 dollars isnt enough just put me off to the place a little bit! but it's the best bar in Newnan.
