Ozzy Osbourne and other "hard rock" was blasting in the store although the one staff present was an older lady. We found that quirky and adorable. The clothing here was a mix of old and new. Most of the "better" items were at the far right in a separate section with higher prices which I thought was absolutely justified. The other clothing on offer was pretty dated and/or worn, but would definitely work for the prices if a person was in need of clothing. They had some pretty cute shoes and small home items. I found a ton of great books at VERY low prices making the stop well worth my time. I can't wait to start digging through my finds.

Sheri's House of Hope is a non-profit organization in Lea County, New Mexico, that supports "women…read moreand children survivors of domestic abuse." Their Thrifty Boutique is located on Turner Street five blocks from the police station. When another donation drop-off center had a sign on their door that they were no longer accepting donations for 2022, I decided to see if Sheri's was available. Prior to this day, I had never been there. The ladies who were working here on 12/9/2022 when I dropped off donations were welcoming and friendly. Most of the items are women's and children's clothes and shoes, but I saw jewelry, girls' hair bows, and a plethora of other items. From now on, I most likely will be bringing my items worth donating to Sheri's - especially after reading about Sheri and her mother's efforts to change law enforcement mindset about victims of domestic violence. Under no circumstances should anyone - female or male - be a victim of domestic abuse! Please help make others aware of this tragic nonsense by donating & encouraging others to donate to Sheri's.

Heart's Desire is Christ-centered recovery center for individuals in need. Their website: https://www.heartsdesireinc.org While I'm an advocate for this program and those like it, this review is for the thrift store. The folks working that day were seemingly busy as I was never greeted or spoken to. Basically all they sold was clothes. If other items existed, I surely did not seem them or how to get to them. Their selection mainly catered to women. And everything was sorted by color which was a bit aggravating. There were children's clothes too. Some shoes. I didn't browse the men's section at all if there was one. Most items were in good condition. Priced reasonably.

Getting here is like driving through a life-size version of Ninetendo's Excitebike: the parking lots are filled with huge potholes, speed bumps, and unmarked spots. (Did I just show my age with that analogy?) There is free parking. Once inside, they don't allow large bags due to shoplifting. Some spaces are so tight that I would have hated having an oversized purse. Their vendors have mostly recognizable boundaries, so in the case that an item is (unusually) unmarked you'll be able to ask for the price without too long of a wait. There were quite a few pieces I would consider if I was move-in ready. There were tons of books I'll most likely be purchasing in a few months. Plus some nice jewelry & home decor antiques. The building in which JD's Thrift Store sits was once also a church. A very plain church with a…read moretall cross on the right side facing the front. Cissy's Food Ministry is also in this building. The reason I'm marking two stars off... 1) They tend to be on the higher end of what should be thrift store prices. 2) They are not accepting donations right now. One other place I usually go is also not accepting donations (as of January 3, 2025), but JD's has done this more than any other thrift store here and it's discouraging. In the December 27-28, 2024 edition of the Hobbs News-Sun newspaper, they quoted presumed owner Cissy Diaz, "We have our kitchen, the food pantry, the [former Fellowship of Believers] church is now a thrift store, we have a ministry home," Diaz said. "So your time, your effort, money, canned goods any of that. Non-profits you never know, but if you want to be hands on, come and join us." But they weren't accepting donations less than a week later. I don't get it. When they do accept items, the sign around the back says Donation Drop-offs are Monday, Thursday & Friday 10AM-4PM. That's where you'll drop them off. Friendly folks inside every time I show up.

The owner was very friendly and it's very easy to consign. Definitely check this place out if your in the area. She had several Louis Vuitton, YSL, Kate Spade, Brahmin, Tory Burch, and Coach pieces to name a few. There's also men's clothing and shoes spread throughout the store.

As it is a smaller shop, I did not see any furniture for purchase, but they do have the following: + books + toys + home decor + jewelry + clothes (children's, men's & women's) + shoes The ladies working when I popped in on September 24, 2024 were friendly and assistive. Halloween costumes and decorations were at the front of the store. They accept donations any time during business hours of which I posted a photo.
