I split my time between Denver and Seattle and I have been traveling twice a month, sometimes for 10 days at a time. I would not have been able to do that without Diane. She has accommodated last minute schedule changes and holiday weekends without complaint. Despite my cats hiding under the bed and tracking litter all over the living room, she really seems to like them. The professional ineptitude and desultory attitude of Dr. Stuart Spencer was nothing short of remarkable. (2) I will not go into the ethical implications of a veterinarian refusing to see the dying cat of a client. [Whatever reservations we had had about his clinic had, all along, been kept to ourselves]. Nor recount the particulars of his soft-shoe sell of a highly improbable "dental package" for a 19-year-old cat in renal failure. Instead, I will simply state here that on our very first visit to the Queen Anne Clinic the actual physical examination of our cat lasted a total of 90 seconds and that the rest of the time Dr. Spencer droned on about options for treatment and offered dubious explanations--more his own personal ("armchair philosophy") opinions--that could have been just as easily and certainly more profitably been kept strictly to himself. * dermatitis, in fact Please read my original review: http://www.yelp.com/biz/queen-anne-animal-clinic-seattle I am still very troubled at the treatment we received here. He has been instrumental in the care and health planning for Chuny and Matisse by offering competent, well-researched, and practical advice in a collaborative way which has made us feel part of the solution, no matter how tough the situation. Doctor Spencer, the outstanding technicians and humans extraordinaire Katie and Kay, and the always cordial and efficient Jamesy, Melissa and Brandon at the front desk work well together and obviously like each other, and their patients benefit from that ease of communication and sharing of knowledge a great deal. We recently lost our Siamese 'child', age nineteen and a half. Over the course of the six months leading up to the final outcome, the QAAC team took turns to call on us and offer practical support by refilling prescriptions proactively and juggling appointments with specialists (Thank you, Jemesy and Melissa!). Kay took several hours to teach us to administer fluids and detect signs of breathing distress in the middle of the night, while Katie coordinated emergency care with the Greenlake Hospital quickly and efficiently ensuring, in the end, that Chuny got all the life saving measures that he'd benefit from. And when the life-saving options were exhausted, final arrangements were made with so much emotional support and warmth that I almost wish they could help us humans plan for the final exit, too. Doc Spencer and Katie came to our home to support us, and Chuny, on the darkest day of our life making the ordeal just a little easier to survive. We cherish our extended family at the Queen Anne Animal Clinic and we appreciate their extraordinary professionalism.

From the first time I met him, I knew he really cared about cats. Yesterday, I received a call from Duane asking if he could come over to drop something off for us. He knew Emma had been sick, and he asked if she had died. I said yes, she died, four weeks ago. Diane said he wanted to give us something in memory of her. My cat has asthma, so when I made the reservation with PetSmart, they ensured me that they could take my cat and give him his inhaler. The day that I was to drop my cat off to PetSmart, someone from the store calls me telling me that they can't take my cat because of his asthma. Extremely upset, and worried, I started looking for another place to send my cat, as I was leaving the next morning on a very early flight. I called Cat Sitting Hotels, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to set up a reservation. I told them about my cat's asthma and they told me that they were trained in how to administer inhalers for cats, another huge relief. The facility is super cute and cozy. Super nice staff who are genuine cat lovers. The cats get alot of free time outside of their kennels. I love the webcams where you can see your loved one whenever you want and they ask you questions about your cats personality, feedings, and more. It was a successful stay from him last time, so I have used them again since then and plan to again. I am seeing some other reviews with claims of injuries to cats and other things. Not saying that these reviews aren't true, just that I have not had those experiences so far. One note of critique is to make sure that you keep your proof of payment, specifically surrounding your deposit. They charge a 200.00 deposit for stays during the holidays, and when I dropped my cat off, I was quoted the full price of his stay. I had to remind the person helping me of my deposit to ensure that I was charged correctly.

He gets rounded up and put in his kennel at night, and we can view them on video if we log in (as provided for each 'accommodation'). The staff are nice and seem to enjoy and get to know the cats. One caveat: it is a Cat Hotel and suited to accommodate the cats 'wants' and preferences. It is not pristine, gets a little funky smelling, and housekeeping and fresh towels are not on demand. Boxes are checked, food is served, and our cats have yet to complain that the pool is not kept clean, so judging from their reticence to check out, it works for them. Windows for bird watching, lots of perches to explore, and they get to roam and not be cooped up which I know they appreciate. Excellent value and flexible customer service (we've missed a flight before, and had a "at the deadline" pick up, and there were no problems). I think the cats prefer it to staying stuck at home and having someone drop-in to feed, water, and check on them.

From the moment we walked in, the staff were all kind, quick, and super understanding. A special shout-out to Dr. Erica Anderson. She was incredible. Not only did she explain everything thoroughly without up-selling (which I really appreciated), but she also took the time to make sure my little guy felt safe and calm during the whole visit. Dr. Anderson quickly diagnosed the issue, gave us a treatment plan that actually worked, and followed up to make sure everything was healing as expected. My corgi is back to his sassy, zoomie-loving self, and I couldn't be more grateful. Seattle has no shortage of vet clinics, but Jet City definitely stands out. Truth be told, I've wavered as to whether this should be a 2-star or 3-star review but if I had written a review after my August interaction, it would have been for 1-star, so I suppose either is an improvement. August We were headed out of town on a Friday morning to Sunday afternoon trip. I had arranged to drop my two cats off around 9:30, so I was more than a bit frustrated when I arrived at City Cat to find the door locked and no sign of Mike. I called his cell phone. Voice mail. Not wanting to simply sit in my car with two distressed cats locked in their cardboard pet carriers, I returned home and tried the number again. Nothing. So I waited. 10:00 10:15 10:30 I was in a panic. The initial drop off time was set so there would be lots of time to be where we needed to be on time. But, by 11:00 we still hadn't heard from Mike and we were in the terrible position of either leaving our cats behind - and having our diabetic cat, L, not received her insulin for 48 hours - or have our entire trip disrupted because we couldn't leave the house on time. We opted for the former, making sure the cats had food, water and clean litter boxes and hoping that going without insulin for two days wouldn't be too detrimental to L's health. About the time we settled into the flow of traffic on I-5 my phone rang and it was Mike, apologizing with some lame excuse about his phone being forwarded to his landline so he wasn't getting his voice mail while he was out of the shop. In a curt tone I told Mike we were already on our way and that because he wasn't at the shop when he said he would be, we were stuck leaving the cats at home. He made a half-hearted apology and the call ended. I was furious and resolved to write a 1-star review and post it here. I never wrote that review and although there are certainly alternatives for other cat boarding businesses in NE Seattle, when the need arose recently to once again board the cats, I decided to give Mike another chance. Maybe the incident in August had just been an anomaly. I called him a few days before Christmas. "Hi Mike, this is David S. I need to make an appointment to bring my cats..." I never got a chance to complete the sentence before he interrupted me. "I don't have any room over Christmas." Uh, who said anything about Christmas? I explained that I actually needed to board the cats starting on New Year's Day. Turns out, Mike had plenty of room. We confirmed dates and hung up. Unfortunately, the exact moment that the line disconnected I realized that I hadn't told Mike about L's diabetes and need for twice daily insulin. I called him back immediately and got his voicemail. "Hi Mike, this is David S. again. We just hung up and I realized that I forgot to mention to you that one of our cats, L, has diabetes and requires twice daily insulin shots. I assume that's not a problem as you've probably had plenty of cats stay with you that required medical care. But if it is a problem, just give me a call back to discuss. If I don't hear from you I'll assume everything is fine." No call back - everything must be fine. At the agreed upon day and time I arrived at City Cat, cats, food, insulin and needles in tow. As I unpacked the cat carriers I picked up L and told Mike that this was the diabetic cat and here is her insulin. He looked at me dumbfounded. "I don't know anything about a diabetic cat." Me: "Umm, well I left you a voicemail about it, immediately after we set up the appointment to bring the cats here." Mike: "Oh, well I don't listen to my voicemails. I just delete them. Just the other day in fact I deleted eight without ever listening to them." I kid you not. That is exactly what he said to me! Me (stunned): "Is this going to be a problem? I've got an early morning plane to catch and I need to know right now if I need to scramble for some alternative options." Mike: "Well, no. I guess I can give her the insulin. Just give me your vet's name and number in case there's a problem." Oy! I felt tremendous guilt leaving my cats behind and wondered whether I'd actually see L alive again. What a lousy way to start a vacation. Happily the cats seemed to do fine - although they were certainly happy to come home. I was a bit chagrined when I arrived back at City Cat and found the medical instructions hanging on the wrong cat's crate, but Mike assured me that the right cat had been receiving her insulin. I guess I'll take his word for it. What choice do I have?
