Vampire Ball in the Main Hall.
    Jeff N.

We went to the Castle for the Vampire Ball, and it was an endless night of wonderment, especially in the VIP room. While it first started as a small bar, it has grown into an epic party palace with groovy DJs. We picked up drinks at the VIP bar for most of the night, but you can also order from other bars in the saloon and the Main Room dance hall. There are many areas to hang out, but it can be a challenge when it's a big event with the crowds coming in droves. For the Vampire Ball, everyone was dressed accordingly, but it was pretty hot and stuffy wearing the regalia when it's wall-to-wall with people. If you had VIP passes like we did, ordering drinks wasn't too terrible, but you did wait a few minutes to reach the front of the queue. If you didn't have VIP, it could be a challenge based on which bar you were closest to ordering at. Overall, the Castle was fun, especially with the Endless Night Vampire Ball. You get to live your best self, so long as your makeup doesn't run too much.

Loved it. Super cool theme, drinks were cheap, and they started playing Deftones so I can't hate. Did get super hot on the lower level, but I was having a blast so it didn't bother me much. Gotta visit this if you're into the whole spooky aesthetic

I love the ambiance of this place. It's like partying in Dracula's castle. I came on a goth night. Music was banging, and I had a lot of fun. There were two dance floors, one upstairs and one outside. I wasn't sure what the rules were in relation to the people being flogged, but they seemed like they were having a good time. I think the person doing the spanking worked for The Castle? Maybe it's a liability thing. Were drinks overpriced? Yes. But you'd be hard pressed to find a club in Ybor that doesn't have that.

Love this place. My husband and I will go again when visiting Tampa. We went on Friday and Saturday cause we loved it so much. I wish I lived in Tampa cause I would work there and be the spank-the-butt woman.

If you know, you know. This place has been part of the…read moreDunedin community for years, and it's still one of the best spots in town for a genuinely good night out. Friendly staff, strong drinks, zero attitude. It's one of those rare bars where you can come as you are -- whether you're meeting friends, people-watching from the iconic front window, or hanging on the patio (the new pool table is a fun addition ). It has roots as a longtime LGBTQ+ favorite, but today it's simply a welcoming, everyone's-invited kind of vibe. Locals love it for a reason. If you haven't been in a while, it's worth rediscovering.

Not my vibes, but it could be yours…read more I'm trying to find some place to dance, that isn't filled with young people or start dancing too late. I was really hopeful that this would be the place, but it's not. We were here from about 8 PM to 9:45 PM on a Saturday. The back patio was very busy with live music that was quite good. So if I was looking for a relaxing place to listen to live music, then this would be it. They have a food truck, they do allow smoking in the back patio, which is not my favorite, but it didn't seem like many people are doing it so I think you can avoid it if you want to. I was really hoping that there would be more dancing inside, we kept going back into check if there was anyone dancing. For the longest time there wasn't actually even anyone inside except for a few people at the bar. At around 9:40 PM, there were a couple women that started dancing, the problem was I didn't like any of the music that the DJ was playing. I didn't recognize it at all. I don't think it was new music, but it was older music that I didn't recognize. We ended up making a pivot and driving to Nash Keys, which is 10 minutes away and they have dueling pianos on Saturdays. I was disappointed that I didn't know the music, because even if there was only a few people dancing I still would've danced, but being that I wasn't a fan of the music there really wasn't any point to do it. So maybe if we had stayed later there would be more dancing, but a combination of no dancing plus not knowing the music we did not want to stick around. Again, the back patio with live music was quite nice, different vibes so it depends what you want. I probably won't come back unless it's well after 10 PM.

"Let's do the time warp again! Let's not and just say we did."…read more I'm trying really hard not to just totally bash this place (because I'm normally not that guy), but I've been here a grand total of three times now and not once has the dance floor numbered more than ten. Which in an area as rich with tourist popularity as Channelside Drive is not just pathetic, it's sad. It's not a problem with the decor (it's actually quite nice with warm accents and a darkened ambiance that you'd expect from a place with a moniker like this in the southern part of the U.S.), or the bar area (which was quite plentiful from what I could tell and you can never go wrong with $1.00 shot specials). Both of those things coupled with the friendly bar staff are the equivalent of both the stars I gave the establishment. The major issue with this place is the lifeblood of any good dance club. And without it death is not only assured, it's eminent. The Music Tracks spun that even when they were popular in the 90's had no relevance to anything closely related to dance. Can you even imagine dancing to "Let's Get It Started" by MC Hammer at a modern dance club today. And when the DJ does start to spin something more current and worth of movement value you find yourself straining to hear it over the barking out of the nightly drink specials. It was so bad that at one point the DJ was (literally) offering free drinks to anyone who would come up to the DJ stand. The amount of takers. A grand total of ZERO The humor of the situation was enough to make me laugh myself all the way to another club. Good thing there was a great one right next door.
