I visit The Castle occasionally in order to enjoy one or, hopefully, more excellent real ales.
There are usually up to 5 or 6 beers available some of which are permanent and also a changing variety of which some are always going to be from local microbreweries.
The service is excellent and the owner/landlord is probably one of the most polite you will ever meet.
He is proud of his beers and keeps them in superb condition.
This is quite a large pub and is also a hotel. Its just on the edge of the town centre and has passing trade as well as a more regular crowd at weekends.
It isnt the Ritz but it is comfortable and retains a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
The pub holds beer festivals at least once a year and has some good food available to compliment the occasions.
I am not sure if food is available at other times though.
I would recommend a visit here! read more
