These have been very tough times for all of us and I think it shows a great deal of insight into the owner's character and moral values. I had used 1830 Wedding Barn as my wedding venue October 12, 2019. We had booked them May 6th,…read more2018. During the time that we had booked them, and were under contract with them, to the date of the event they had changed many aspects that they had originally sold us on. They had told us we had the week of the wedding for all of our needs, the entire day before the wedding for rehearsal/set up, our dog was allowed to be in our wedding, the day of the event we had from 10 am to 10 pm to arrive and departure, as well as to clean up Sunday morning. October 5th, 2019 The wedding barn sent out an email outlining new guidelines of the venue. In these guidelines they state no animals, all clean up must be done the night of the wedding, we now only had 2 hours the Friday before for rehearsal, dinner, and for decorations, and a max time the reception could be is 4 hours. Rehearsal day, I was told to arrive a little bit earlier to unload decorations before the rest of my bridal party/family showed up. We had set the time for everyone to meet at 5 but the venue had told me to arrive closer to 3:45 to be sure I had most things set up (conversed in person and through email and text). I had walked into the barn and nothing had been set up (tables, chairs, and special curtain we had paid $150 to be put up). I had walked in and instantly looked at the girl who I had spoken with to make this plan and said "wow, your hair looks amazing". She greeted me with attitude, "Is rehearsal dinner not at 5?". Taken back by her remark, I had explained that she had told me to come in early to deliver decorations (I am sure wedding season is busy and everyone needs a little reminder sometimes.) She then snapped at me stating that I only had 2 hours to be there. She did not recall telling me to come early, though there were texts, and emails confirming it. We had also spoken prior to the rehearsal about my legal contract and that they agreed they would honor "what ever was in the contract". In the contract it was written that we had ample time the week prior and the entire day Friday to set up. If anyone else reading this had gotten married, they understand how stressful it is in general, (especially the day before) and having to process and deal with substantial changes a week prior, I was incredibly stressed out. After being greeted with such attitude I had just broken down and cried. We had many other issues with the wedding and we were about to call the entire thing off right then and there. Day of wedding, there was no organization of the staff at all. I had shown up with my friend and we were told to drive around back so that I wouldn't be seen. As soon as we had driven out there we were screamed at for driving on their grass but had been instructed to drive down that dirt road. They had also screamed at my poor grandmother for driving around back since she was unaware of where to park, since they were not directing traffic coming in (many witnessed that had written me statements). TO note they would not allow any of my vendors to arrive at the Venue before 12pm, though the contract stated they could get there at 10am. They had shut my DJ down at 7:45 telling him multiple times to turn down his music and rushed us out the door by 8:30. This included us rushing to clean up our own wedding and many valuable things went missing afterwards. We were under contact for our wedding and wedding schedule to end at 10 not be rushed out the door the entire day. My vendors, who have written statements, felt uncomfortable by the venues presents and tried to avoid them at all costs. One had noted smelling strong alcohol on one of them during Rehearsal as well as the day of the wedding. My event coordinator/wedding planner also did NOT have a pleasant experience with them at all. There are so many other things that had happened to make our experience subpar but at the end of the day they knowingly violated our contract stating, "we didn't expect you to remember all the things that we sold you on in our first meeting". I totally understand the need to change and improve each wedding, however with big changes like these we should have been notified prior to a week before the wedding and a new contract should have been issued to outline their changes or giving us an option to move elsewhere if their new changes didn't work with us. I only ever plan on getting married one time and unfortunately every time we look back on the day we deeply regret choosing this facility or even having a wedding in general. With all the stress they had put us through we should have just eloped. I know some people had a great experience with these people but I am just sharing my personal experience that I encountered.

The sign is barely visible from the road, the space is very small, and the wedding planner had no clue about wedding traditions. For example, she has the bride's family sit on the right instead of the left and the bride's family came in before the groom's family for both the ceremony and the reception. In addition to the wedding planner being incompetent, the wait staff is very rude. For some reason, I was carded. I am nearly 30 and didn't have my ID with me. The bartender dumped out my drink and refused to give it to me. My family got drinks for me and when they went to the bar they were asked if everyone at the table was over 21, and they said yes (because that's true). A bartender very rudely came to my table, grabbed my drink, and got in my face and yelled at me saying that I knew I couldn't be served. Everyone told her I was over 21 and she didn't care and proceeded to shut the bar down. Also, keep in mind, the wedding party had champagne toasts and most of them were under the legal drinking age. In addition to her extreme rudeness, the waitress was not dressed appropriately, her pants were too tight, her shirt was cut in poor places, and her red bra straps were hanging out. Furthermore, the wait staff removed the Buffet as soon as the last person was walking away, instead of letting people get more. I recently got married and we were able to keep the buffet open as long as we wanted and all of the extra food was boxed for us. I would not recommend this venue to anyone under any circumstances.

My kids had one day off from youth sports, wanted to do something with their grandmother, and bowling is what they chose to do. We arrived around 1pm and the place was packed. Once we got to the counter, they said they didn't have an open lane available until 2:30pm. My mother, two sons, and myself went back at 2:30, paid for an hour of bowling, paid for our shoes, and waited just a couple of minutes for our lane to be "cleaned" since a bowling league had just left. Almost immediately after we started our game, the bowling balls got stuck at the bottom of the chute. The first time it happened, we waited a few minutes for a worker to come over and fix it. We thought it would be a one-time thing. It was not. The leagues before us put so much oil on the bowling balls (I assume that's what was oiled, I'm not knowledgeable enough in the bowling world to speak with confidence), that they were covered in oil and would just spin on the wheels at the bottom of the chute. This happened over and over, we were taking napkins and wiping off the bowling balls each time. The guy that came over to fix our lane each time was very helpful and felt bad for us, but he was definitely irritated. I don't blame him, he had ZERO help. There was another lane a couple of lanes over that had the same issue and I assume a few on the other side of the building as well. He was running around like crazy! I asked if we could be put on a different lane, the very young girl in the red sweatshirt said, "Your lane isn't the only issue, we are having problems with them all right now". Well, on our side, I only saw the worker fixing two lanes continuously. They had a few other young workers come over and start wiping the bowling balls with some sort of cleaner, but didn't seem to help too much. The four of us just barely got through one game in an hour, typically we can do two games in an hour. We spent more time waiting and wiping their greasy bowling balls than actually bowling. There was no flow to the game and to be completely honest not a ton of fun. The guy fixing the lanes for us went to the employees standing at the counter to express his frustration for us and I heard the female (I believe the owner) say "so what should I do comp them?" No one came over to apologize or offer any sort of comp. My mother went up to the counter and was again told "we weren't the only issue" and gave her a $10 credit. We were literally working for you like your paid workers! We helped you free some of the oil from that lane! I understand you probably cannot control the leagues and how much oil they use; however, you can shut the lanes down for a half hour and clean them properly before someone else uses them. Things happen, but as a business it's how you handle those things that really matters. No, we don't spend the kind of money at your establishment like a league would, but we are still a paying customer and expect a standard experience. The next time we have a day off, my guess is that my kids will not choose bowling.

A friend and I were attending a wedding close by and booked a two twin bed room on hotels .com. We…read morearrived and were checked in, went to the room, only to discover it was one full bed. We went back down to the desk to discuss the mistake, and which time they informed us they cut their contract with hotels.com because they kept booking people in rooms not matching accommodations, and they don't even have any rooms with 2 beds (or none available, unclear.). In order for us to stay, we had to book another room that was not ready sight unseen. We were told we would need to speak to hotels.com for a refund. We attempted to get a partial refund from hotels.com and were informed that the hotel said we accepted alternative accommodations. Inn staff also reported they gave us the second room for free, which is also untrue. They refuse to make it right. The rooms were small, the hallway smelled of vomit when we went back to our rooms that night, and the second rooms ac did not work properly. Beware and avoid staying here if you are a group or family unless you'd like to squeeze into tiny rooms and get 0 customer service for a mistake on the Inns end. The worst hospitality experience I've ever had, coming from someone who has worked in and frequented MUCH nicer accommodations. Edit to add: check their reviews outside of google. That is the only place people rave about them, which is super fishy. Update to Anthony: Every part of your response was untrue. That's a shame you feel the need to continue to lie. There were no multiple visitors to our room, we didn't tell you to charge the card you told us you would because you wouldn't fix the error as it was a hotels.com issue, you never mentioned the cooling issue, etc etc etc. if you had been willing to comp the second room (we shouldn't need to tell you we needed two beds, that's what we booked for.) and had not continually lied to hotels.com, this review wouldn't be here.

The location is perfect - just a 1/2 block from the downtown main street, and sitting on the porch in their rocking Adirondack chairs or having breakfast, there is a nice view of the lake. There is a comfy large living room with a pool table too. Definitely will come back the next time we're visiting Sebago Lake
