Let me tell you the story. So unfortunately I broke the screen on my iPhone 6 but luckily it was insured through Vodafone. So I immediately went in to the Vodafone store and attempted to get my replacement/repair. It was pretty clear to me that the phone couldn't be repaired as it was practically in half. But Vodafone insisted it be sent away to their repair centre for 7 days. This was pretty annoying but at least it was getting fixed. They said they could provide a courtesy phone, so I was expecting an iPhone (even a 4) to keep me ticking over but they gave me a 2011 Android which was pretty much unusable - I could just about get Yelp! After seven days of struggling through with the temp phone I received a text to come and collect my repaired phone but it turned out they just gave me a new one which was great but surely they could have done that from the outset? Secondly I went down for the store opening as I didn't want to queue behind anyone but the store shutters still were not up at 9:10am! Not sure what was going on there? When I eventually got in and spoke to an advisor I found her particularly unhelpful when I was querying a few account details. The old 'computer says no' attitude! The whole experience was pretty terrible and I'll definitely be reconsidering my contract provider when the time comes!

From I was due my upgrade I had been getting lots of sales calls from different phone companies everyday, which became a real nuisance. They were quoting me prices for iphones and tariffs that had to be agreed to there and then, as whatever deal may not be available tomorrow etc. I felt that they were trying to rush and push me into signing up to something in haste. With Carphone Warehouse things were completely different. The staff member Aaron wasn't pushy in the slightest. He got me a decent deal and set my phone up ready to use within 15 minutes. They have lots of phones with good deals instore and online.

It also has an array of what I would call 'classic' phones, but really they are just second hand ones. If you're looking for a cheap phone to take on holiday or one you're not afraid of losing, then I suggest going here before the bigger chain stores. The reason why I like this shop however is that 4urphone did me a great service when my Blackberry screen broke. I chanced my arm and tried to see if they could fix it before ringing up the insurance company and paying the excess. Not only did they fix my Blackberry screen, but they charged £20 less than my insurance company would have. As well as this they did it for me there and then. It was superb service.

However I had difficulties when trying to buy an unlocked phone here for my friend Andrew.He had a Blackberry curve that he wanted to use for 02,and I was his little errand boy,and he received three sinner that didn't work right. But if there was something strange happening to your mobile and you couldn't ring anyone, you should probably come here. Despite a shop that resembles something similar to the inside of one of those strange people that are on Eastenders trying to flog dodgy watches, the Fonemedics are like Carphone Warehouse but of the underworld. They'll fix your phone, but they'll make you feel damn uncomfortable doing it. These people are very good at their jobs. I only called in to buy a case for my Dad's phone (he insists on using a case but I don't because my phone usually ends up in the toilet so a case acts as more on an anchor than anything else). They had any number of cases, accessories, memory cards, chargers, pretty much anything you need to make your phone worth slightly more. The shop, despite their best efforts to make you think otherwise, is totally legal and very helpful. If you need assistance, call in here. If not, call the Ghostbusters.

Apparently something needed to be unlocked on her phone in order for it to properly work in Australia (where she was off to study), so I mean, the trip was required, even if the phone wasn't really ill. It just wasn't 100%. I had a few doubts when we went in and my friend spoke to the guy. I wasn't certain he looked too confident in what she was asking, but hey, what do I know? He took the phone off her, and told us to come back in an hour. Okey doke... Off we went for lunch, waiting nervously for the moment when we could go back and fetch it. The hour seemed to stretch out (isn't that always the way?), but eventually we decided to head back over to Fonemedics. As soon as we went back in and asked if the phone was ready, the guy told us that whoever was fixing it needed a while longer. Well that was just great... My friend had to go and move her car (darn those limited time car parks), and I had to go elsewhere, so I never did get a chance to see just how long it took, or how much she paid, but I do know they managed to unlock it. Thank heavens. It wouldn't be my first port of call for phone fixing requirements, but these guys seem to know what they're doing. I think...
