But if there was something strange happening to your mobile and you couldn't ring anyone, you should probably come here. Despite a shop that resembles something similar to the inside of one of those strange people that are on Eastenders trying to flog dodgy watches, the Fonemedics are like Carphone Warehouse but of the underworld. They'll fix your phone, but they'll make you feel damn uncomfortable doing it. These people are very good at their jobs. I only called in to buy a case for my Dad's phone (he insists on using a case but I don't because my phone usually ends up in the toilet so a case acts as more on an anchor than anything else). They had any number of cases, accessories, memory cards, chargers, pretty much anything you need to make your phone worth slightly more. The shop, despite their best efforts to make you think otherwise, is totally legal and very helpful. If you need assistance, call in here. If not, call the Ghostbusters.

Apparently something needed to be unlocked on her phone in order for it to properly work in Australia (where she was off to study), so I mean, the trip was required, even if the phone wasn't really ill. It just wasn't 100%. I had a few doubts when we went in and my friend spoke to the guy. I wasn't certain he looked too confident in what she was asking, but hey, what do I know? He took the phone off her, and told us to come back in an hour. Okey doke... Off we went for lunch, waiting nervously for the moment when we could go back and fetch it. The hour seemed to stretch out (isn't that always the way?), but eventually we decided to head back over to Fonemedics. As soon as we went back in and asked if the phone was ready, the guy told us that whoever was fixing it needed a while longer. Well that was just great... My friend had to go and move her car (darn those limited time car parks), and I had to go elsewhere, so I never did get a chance to see just how long it took, or how much she paid, but I do know they managed to unlock it. Thank heavens. It wouldn't be my first port of call for phone fixing requirements, but these guys seem to know what they're doing. I think...

It also has an array of what I would call 'classic' phones, but really they are just second hand ones. If you're looking for a cheap phone to take on holiday or one you're not afraid of losing, then I suggest going here before the bigger chain stores. The reason why I like this shop however is that 4urphone did me a great service when my Blackberry screen broke. I chanced my arm and tried to see if they could fix it before ringing up the insurance company and paying the excess. Not only did they fix my Blackberry screen, but they charged £20 less than my insurance company would have. As well as this they did it for me there and then. It was superb service.

I picked us the accessories for my beautiful HTC desires here that were good value and was able to locate replacement phone batteries for SonyEricsson phones,so view did the job well. The stores selection of second hand sinner was also useful for me to buy a cheap wee phone for use on my holidays! However I had difficulties when trying to buy an unlocked phone here for my friend Andrew. He had a Blackberry curve that he wanted to use for 02,and I was his little errand boy,and he received three sinner that didn't work right. So my advice is beware the unlocking service, but other accessories and repairs should do just the ticket!

This way you can use the deals you are offered as leverage against your existing network in order to get yourself a better offer. it's a bit like bluffing in poker, you have got to have a fair idea what the other players hand is like, but you cant claim to have a royal flush all the time. Having said this when my contract was about to run out I went into Carphone warehouse to see what I could wangle, they offered me a PS3 if I signed up to a 24 month contract on an average phone, but as previously stated I never intended to take this, I just wanted to see what was out there. So I listened to the pleasant sales persons pitch and then said politely, "No Thank You Sir". This gave me great leverage with my provider and I am happy to say that using this info I was able to barter Vodafone down, they are practically paying me to stay with them, not really because this would not work. But one thing I learnt about Carphone Warehouse is that if you want a freebie with your contract sign up with them.

Luckily, I got out while I still had a few marbles rolling around upstairs and got myself into more morally justifiable employment. With this in mind, I recently had to replace my phone following a phantom breaking and called into this Carphone Warehouse to see what was what. The service I got was pretty bad. When I first went in I was pretty much ignored without so much as a hello or a smile from the staff and once I did finally get served I felt that I was getting the hard sale put on me, which is never a nice feeling. Needless to say, I went elsewhere to get a phone. The location of this place is great but I just don't think the company or the staff are all that nice. Not really up to much.

Customers are there to be milked and dictated to. The only service they offer is to make you pay up, even for services that you cancel and no longer want. They then threaten you. Dreadful phone wait. Easily 1hr and then no answer. Web site is a disaster. For example when you want to see you mobile 4 gb box info, you try and add it, it then can't find the number or sends a txt code to the number which of course can't be accessed on a 4 g box. I could go on and on but AVOID this organisation if you value your time, money and sanity!

This happened to me this week and I had a mini panic when I thought of my life without my iPhone so I rushed out to the shops to find a decent replacement without spending a million pounds (or there abouts) on an Apple charger. After popping in to a few phone shops including Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone I went in to the EE shop. As with all these shops they make the phone accessories hard to find. In EE's case they were to the right of the counter near the floor. Their stock wasn't great to be honest but I did find what I was looking for. I ended up going for a 2 meter long Belkin charger which means my phone and I never need to part again. One gripe with this EE store was the staffing levels. I only needed one item and there was only one member of staff on when I went in and he was busy with another customer who was obviously taking a phone contract out and would be a while - I almost abandoned the purchase but while the lady was deciding on tariffs or something he came and ran my item through the tills. Hats off to him for that - but I would suggest they have 2 members of staff on at all times.

It kept turning itself off and despite being fully powered up it said it was out of power. Simply it's clear it's not fit for purpose. We rolled up to Apple Belfast with a piece of crap not fit for purpose to be asked if we had made an appointment to see a technician. So my question was, are you having a laugh? If I went into any other business having bought something not fit for purpose we would get an apology and an immediate replacement but not Apple. Their approach was to make an appointment for us. Fortunately it was 30 minutes hence. It was 11:30am and I determined I'd give it an hour and leave to leave it to the credit card company to refund us. They sell us a piece of broken crap and keep us waiting to suit their procedures. Now there's a common expression in these parts 'arsin about'. This store had 3 or 4 staff just arsin about. Any one of them could simply have replaced the broken pad. At about noon we got a text to say our appointment was imminent but 20 more minutes would pass to get attention from Vivienne - a charmer who remained charming when I put to him that this was not a technical issue, rather it was simply a replacement and I had no intention of accepting a repair. He briefly ran a few tests and replaced the broken iPad which could have and should have been done within 5 minutes of our going in the door. Not wasting over an hour of our time. It's not disabled friendly either as the only seats are high rise stools.

Their attitude is unhelpful, they have a highly inflated view of themselves and their processes are not at all customer focussed. I was there for 1 hour 40 minutes, back to John Lewis I think. Apple need to carryout an audit on this store to get it back to an acceptable standard. I am very disappointed again with the iPhone 14 pro and the store.
