I had steak with mashed potatoes, zucchini, and a salad (with buttermilk battered fried chicken) that was like a meal unto itself. The presentation was excellent, the conversation (with Chef Patrick) was both entertaining and educational, and the experience was, not only very fun, but an incredible value. I would give her 10 stars if I had the chance!…read more I would like to thank Chef Emily for taking such good care of my family yesterday. We all had a great time participating in the meal preparation during the cooking lesson she gave us at our home. All of us agree that the quality and taste of the food she had us prepare was on a par with the best restaurant meals we have experienced. While the paella tasted excellent, I personally thought the marinated grilled lamb "lollipops" appetizer we prepared was an amazing taste experience. The dessert of chocolate lava cakes with raspberry ice cream put us all over the top at the completion of the meal. Chef Emily somehow managed to get us a first class meal while giving each of us personal attention, including our 10 year old granddaughter, as we learned to execute her recipes and cooking techniques. She even did all the shopping before and cleanup after too. My expectations were exceeded and I am glad I chose her when I went searching for a chef to give us a high level cooking lesson in our home as a birthday gift for my wife. In addition to all that culinary talent, she is an amazing personality too and fit right in the entire time she was with us.

From the moment he arrived, Chef Jon felt like an old friend. He was warm, funny, and engaging, making the entire evening feel relaxed and special. The food was phenomenal--perfectly cooked steaks, incredible parmesan risotto, the best shrimp we've ever had, delicious broccoli, and a caesar salad with homemade dressing that even won over the anchovy skeptics! The lava cake was the perfect ending to an unforgettable meal. What made the evening even more meaningful was that Chef Jon recreated the very first meal Marcus made for Jennifer when they were dating, adding such a thoughtful, personal touch to their anniversary celebration. When dinner was over, the kitchen was spotless, and his generosity extended beyond the meal--he even offered us his own fishing poles when he learned our rental didn't have any. Chef Jon doesn't just prepare amazing food--he creates unforgettable experiences. If you're considering hiring him, don't hesitate. You'll get an exceptional meal and memories that will last a lifetime.

Our niece and her fiance are pescatarian, so Private Chef Charleston designed a delicious menu to delight them as well as our guests: beautiful shrimp, deviled eggs, seared tuna, pasta salad, grilled asparagus, delectable cheeses, brownie bites, key lime tarts, hot crab dip, and more. They offered a top-shelf full bar, but also set up dispensers of iced tea and Pimm's Cups, which were so refreshing for a summer party. They arrived at 3 pm to set up and my husband and I actually got to relax, get dressed, and enjoy the party! The cleanup was just as amazing--they packaged all the leftovers in our refrigerator and washed and dried every single platter, dish, and utensil. We are still receiving rave reviews from our guests and we can't wait to work with them again! We give Private Chef Charleston our highest recommendation!

Every quarter, our Scout Troop does a Court of Honor where we recognize the accomplishments of the girls from the last few months. I thought about making mac n cheese myself, which I'm highly capable of doing, but thought, why not support a small business who I know can make some kick-ass mac for the girls. Pickup was easily scheduled and completed. I arrived at the event with a huge tray of gourmet mac n cheese, and I think maybe I brought enough back home for me to have as a side for my next meal. Total winner with the families involved in our event. Excellent flavors and texture in each bite. Would recommend The Good Cooker for meals at home or for catering any event in the future.
