It seemed like one more legal hassle to get to the divorce. A qualified domestic relations order (or QDRO, pronounced "qua-dro"), is a judicial order entered as part of a property division in a divorce or legal separation that splits a retirement plan or pension plan. A QDRO's recognition of spousal ownership interest in a plan participant's pension plan awards a portion of the plan participant's benefit to an alternate payee. An alternate payee must be spouse or ex spouse. This was the formal paperwork done to provide the ex spouse with a portion of my retirement plan without penalties and according to the decree. Melinda Cameron is not a lawyer, but these are legal court documents that she prepares. She was prompt and in constant contact while the papers were prepared and going to court for signatures. Melinda Cameron does not do her work with due diligence. The first set of documents she sent me months ago had an error. I pointed it out to her in a email, but it took her weeks to see my email and then correct the error. Today, I received a second set of docs. She didn't even have my name correct, with the legal document showing my married name to be the same as my maiden name. I sent the docs back, pointed out the error, and asked her to please proofread any documents her office sends out in the future. For a company that works with legal issues, these lapses are inexcusable, imo. Now, on a personal level, her mistakes and delays have thus required my ex to pay the income taxes on the alimony I received. So that has been a nice plus for me. Followup: I spoke with Melinda today, and she defended herself stating that it is the clients duty to find mistakes, not hers. Nor has she ever once apologized for her mistakes. I expected to receive accurate documents, and never received one email from her that contained error free documents. Her emails aren't even composed of complete sentences. Sometimes it's difficult to understand what she is trying to say. Do NOT recommend. I also shared my experiences to the firm that recommended this company. read more

By far the most unprofessional experience I have ever had. I originally reached out October 2023. It was never clear how long this process would be. 8 months later and she just told me she did her part and now I have a different point of contact. She had great communication until payment was made. It was at that point that she basically disappeared. I sent emails and phone calls that were ignored and unanswered. All I asked was for updates and time frames as to what was going to happen. I emailed multiple times asking for an update and expressed how frustrated I was. She had such a delay that both attorneys have withdrawn so we needed to sign more paperwork, delaying this process even longer. Not once was there ever an apology for any of the inconvenience. I would never work with this company again nor will I recommend them to anyone. Should I have read a few of the reviews I would have much rather went with someone else. read more

Very disappointed with the service promised versus what was provided. Long story short, I had great responses and call backs to get my case. After payment however, I was repeatedly ognored and avoided. I am now in the process to hire someone else to start the qdro process all over again. Not worth the headache. read more

Took longer than expected or projected. After the initial 5 weeks of Melinda's sending my financial package to Vanguard I contacted Vanguard to learn they never received any information via fax. Vanguard claimed it wasn't a valid fax #, she claimed it was. Either way I think QDRA Consultants should have at least followed up with a status check. Nice enough lady but keep up to date with progress. read more

Over 10 years ago QDRO Consultants developed several QDRO's for the division of property by decree of divorce. Melinda Cameron wrote up each per the instructions provide by each company without deviating to a fault. I attempted to request changes to one of the QDRO which I thought was an error. It was not received well and ignored. In fact they returned the QDRO to the courts and forced me to sign. Fast forward to current times and my ex decided to retire finding out the error that I had identified previously was going to cost her half of her total retirement. Melinda was contacted by my ex to correct. Melinda could only see one way to correct her error which was unacceptable to me. After many months of agony working with Melinda, I was able to provide my original request of change and the QDRO was changed. Melinda does not think outside the box and only follows directions provided by each company to develop the QDRO. She uses no common sense and or logic and provides minimal service to her clients. I do not recommend Melinda to anyone. You would be better off doing it yourself. read more
