Inside the early revellers had taken our favourite seats but it turned out to be a bonus on our part, the large restaurant had been turned into a buffet / disco / karaoke and we found a suitable table. The FREE buffet was endless, every time a tray emptied another one appeared. A good selection to choose from, and both hot cold food was available. For all you Motorhome owners who want a safe stop off for the night the Poachers allows this service. A large hard standing area at the rear is the ideal solution. From the cheerful greeting upon our arrival to the delicious desert everything was top notch. The meals were wonderful and the service was quick, friendly and professional. We were so impressed that we returned yesterday for the Sunday lunch. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and again the meal exceeded our expectations. We shall return whenever we are in the vicinity.

I would highly recommend the food and I can assure you that the portions will not leave you feeling hungry.The local people are extremely friendly creating a great atmosphere making the Ox Inn well worth a visit being 5 minuets extra drive from the tourist hot spots. If you can imagine walking into a friend's house and there in the corner is the bar just knocked together with a few bits of wood and a couple of tables and stools to sit at, well this is what's here. What you see is what you get not a great selection of beers but the Theakstons went down a treat (well actually several did). We sat in the garden overlooking the countryside unspoiled by any sounds other than that of the birds and sheep in the fields opposite. If you are after Juke Boxes, slot machines and the other trappings of modern pubs give this a miss, if you are after visiting the Scarborough area try and find this one you shouldn't be disappointed after all they way the pub trade is going at the moment it may not be here for many more years. I will probably get bought and turned into someone's home, shame if it ever does. The pub doesn't do food (only a few sandwiches) just a traditional pub.

Walking into the mill inn is like walking back in time to the 1970's! When you order a drink the bar man Disappears down stairs to his underground cellar to fetch it. My partner's steak and ale pie was also excellent and I couldn't complain about value for money. we enjoyed it that much we returned on the Sunday before heading home again. The Beef salad my Partner had was excellent not just a slice of beef and cloth lettuce, but a few good thick tender slices of beef with a salad complimented with allsorts including melon and all the trimmings as was the duck I had. The beef was not in slices but rather in bits like I had the scrapings off the bottom of the tin. The chicken and pork were also very dry as if they had been kept hot for a long time. I was very surprised to find battered asparagus and battered parsnip on my plate and quite frankly never want to see them again. My friends had Gammon, Steak and Ale pie and Chilli. I envied their choices as they looked much fresher and vibrant then mine. I feel that the quality of my food suffered as I had ordered something of which they would have prepared lots of portions of whereas my friends were cooked as they ordered. Next time I go I am going to try their 32oz steak which they knock out for just under £20. However I definitely would not eat Sunday Roast here again and would not recommend it to anyone. At £31 for four meals I found it reasonable.

A pretty traditional British pub, the Tow Bar serves the usual array of pub drinks at a fairly reasonable price. As well as the inside of the pub itself, there's a large conservatory overlooking the beer garden, which has plenty of seating, a covered area for smokers to stay dry, and a fab wooden play area with climbing frame, bridge, swings and slides to keep the kids amused. As for food, there isn't a massive selection of food, but there'll be something for most people to enjoy, and on the whole it's really tasty. I had the homemade lasagne on my last visit and it was great. Main courses are around the £7 mark. Of course there's also a kids menu with the usual suspects like chicken nuggets, fish fingers and burgers. The service is really friendly and the atmos is good. There are lots of entertainment nights on, including karaoke, cabaret acts and bands, alas we didn't stay long enough to experience any of those. The only slight down side of this place is that to enter you have to walk the gauntlet of the filthy smokers who gather outside the only door and spread their smog. They should be encouraged by the staff not to stand at the door
