From the cheerful greeting upon our arrival to the delicious desert everything was top notch. The meals were wonderful and the service was quick, friendly and professional. We were so impressed that we returned yesterday for the Sunday lunch. Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and again the meal exceeded our expectations. We shall return whenever we are in the vicinity.

A pretty traditional British pub, the Tow Bar serves the usual array of pub drinks at a fairly reasonable price. As well as the inside of the pub itself, there's a large conservatory overlooking the beer garden, which has plenty of seating, a covered area for smokers to stay dry, and a fab wooden play area with climbing frame, bridge, swings and slides to keep the kids amused. As for food, there isn't a massive selection of food, but there'll be something for most people to enjoy, and on the whole it's really tasty. I had the homemade lasagne on my last visit and it was great. Main courses are around the £7 mark. Of course there's also a kids menu with the usual suspects like chicken nuggets, fish fingers and burgers. The service is really friendly and the atmos is good. There are lots of entertainment nights on, including karaoke, cabaret acts and bands, alas we didn't stay long enough to experience any of those. If we holiday in Cayton Bay again (which we most probably will) we'll definitely return

If you can imagine walking into a friend's house and there in the corner is the bar just knocked together with a few bits of wood and a couple of tables and stools to sit at, well this is what's here. What you see is what you get not a great selection of beers but the Theakstons went down a treat (well actually several did). We sat in the garden overlooking the countryside unspoiled by any sounds other than that of the birds and sheep in the fields opposite. If you are after Juke Boxes, slot machines and the other trappings of modern pubs give this a miss, if you are after visiting the Scarborough area try and find this one you shouldn't be disappointed after all they way the pub trade is going at the moment it may not be here for many more years. I will probably get bought and turned into someone's home, shame if it ever does. The pub doesn't do food (only a few sandwiches) just a traditional pub.

Walking into the mill inn is like walking back in time to the 1970's! When you order a drink the bar man Disappears down stairs to his underground cellar to fetch it. It had but a little to the better in that the room we occupied had been 'upgraded' with a jacuzzi bath. As was usual in this great inn were the toiletries, bathrobes, tea/coffee making facilities.....I could go on for ever as there is so much in the rooms. Alistair and Karen are perfect hosts and will do anything to make your stay perfect. I have carried on, somewhat, about the room but one thing that mustn't be missed is the food. Alistair is rarely away from the kitchen. The food that comes out is beyond description. All locally sourced. In the evening we started with a seafood platter for my partner and an awe inspiring lobster bisque for myself. My mouth still waters thinking about it. Main course, for both of us, was a dressed crab. A perfect meal. Breakfast in the morning was a full English for myself. The black pudding has to be tried. My partner had scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. Those plates filled us up for the day and the drive to Edinburgh. If you are in the area, this is the best place to stay but book early because it gets filled quickly. Thanks K & A, and your wonderful staff, for another great nights stay.

My girlfriend had steak and ale pie which was also gorgeous. Proper homemade pie if its pie you like this is the place to go! We also managed to squeeze in room for puddding which were lovely aswell. Also plenty of room for children to play in the garden with nice views and lovely flowers in the borders. We really liked it and will definitely be going back to try the rest of the menu!

I then managed to get a job working here which was a bonus because we got free food! Now I walk through the forrest and go for a meal when ever me and the girlfriend are in town. Over a 100 plus Belgian beers on offers as well as National award winning ciders and perrys. They are trying to get the kitchens up and running again which can only be a good thing. The only slight down side of this place is that to enter you have to walk the gauntlet of the filthy smokers who gather outside the only door and spread their smog. They should be encouraged by the staff not to stand at the door

Not a bad pour for a non barkeep. Alas he was afraid of the till... Unfortunately the landlady reappeared as if by magic. So our drinks were not complimentary.
