    Chickeny bun goodness
    Chloe R.

Oh my how firm your buns are! I was completely misled by not only the name of this place but by previous yum cha and pork bun devouring experiences...but I was not disappointed, instead transformed by the concept of an Asian style bun serving burger like goodness with an Asian twist! I had one of these for lunch but could have had 10. My chicken was perfectly cooked (it fell apart in my mouth), the chilli sauce with Japanese mayo wasn't too overwhelming and I love the mix of crispy coleslaw and coriander salad with the warm smoodgy bun goodness. Never will I be able to order a pork bun anywhere again without expecting it to come with a chunk of chicken, lamb, pork or beef, a salad and a sizzling chilli sauce. Well thanks very much The Bun Mobile you've done it now! If only there were some way to transport you over, via some kind of truck device down to Adelaide... wait a minute!

    The mobile on action!

Don't pass up a chance to try the bun mobile. Seriously. Go track Harry & Christine down if they aren't near you. You can go to their website and submit a request for a specific location. I simply hang out for Tuesdays & Thursdays in West End now knowing lunch is sorted. Their bun with tender meats piled with lashings of salads and pickled vegetables is mouth-wateringly scrumptious. I don't know what that amazing steamed bun is or how it's made, but it's the best damn breaded meat holder / bread-type pairing I've ever tasted. Every time I visit, I have to hold myself back from smashing out two of the buns. They are Moorish. They offer a loyalty-card program for their regulars called "Bun-stars". Buy 12 buns, get one free. I'm happy to be rewarded for purchases I'm likely to make without the loyalty program. :-) Christine knows me by sight now and I'm sure this means I have a Bun Mobile problem. But, my own issues aside, it's brilliant customer service from the operator to greet your customers by name and smile when they arrive. Get to the mobile. Hurry, before the specials sell-out!

Delish!!! A burger cross pork bun creation that is simply amazing! The Jamaican jerk chicken bun is worth a try when it's on the specials board.

I've tried their Wagyu bun from their usual menu, but always tend to get their Special buns each time I go.

But Snag Stand have created a "haute dog" that makes me forget those years long enough to order and surprisingly enjoy the "sausage in a bun" before me. Sure it's fast food, but at $9.90 they pack a lot of quality ingredients into a cheap and quick take-away option. Hanger levels were rising last week when I ran through the Queens Plaza food court. Note to self: don't walk through a food court when you're hangry. Scanning the choices, Snag Stand seemed a reasonable choice given I hadn't had the chance to try them at the Yelper Party. I ordered the chicken and rocket hot dog and was given a buzzer (so RSL, loved it). My order was made fresh and my buzzer promptly alerted me to its arrival. The hot dog itself? Fresh, tasty and not at all the idea that I have of a hot dog. There was no greasy ick feeling after eating and the rocket, tomato and red onion is a fresh-food kick more hot dogs need.

Snag Stand describes itself as a "gourmet sausage grill" and "the home of heavenly haute dogs"…read more With those words I was intrigued. Located in Queens Plaza's Food court, taking over from the old Crepe Cafe, I had to try this for myself. Their menu has standard mouthwatering options on offer with delectable descriptions to match, such as the "American Classic", "German Bratwurst", "Currywurst", "Spicy Spanish Chorizo", through to the "Australia fare". Ranging from $6.90 to the more fancy "Wagyu Beef" at $10.90. You can go with the DIY option, and choose your own roll (Brioche, Rustic or Poppy Seed), your choice of sausage, and toppings at $1.00 each, (from sauteed onions to house made sauerkraut or coopes ale bbq sauce to name a few). Gluten Free rolls attract an additional $1.00 and for the health concious you can go naked..no not you, but the snag! So no bun but with your choice of salad and grilled sausage for $9.90. I decided to play it safe and boring, going with the American Classic. A "wood smoked frankfurter with american yellow mustard, tomato sauce, onions & sweet relish on a toasted brioche roll" for only $6.90. Service was friendly, and amazingly quick. Especially useful for those days when you don't have much time for lunch. As for the "gourmet" hot-dog? It was okay. It didn't blow my mind as I had hoped. The sausage (the main attraction in any hot-dog performance), was pretty bland and dry, maybe even undercooked. The saving grace was the toasted brioche roll, which had a slight sweetness to it, and with the relish, mustard, onions and sauce combining to give it a bit of life. For $6.90 and its size, it was relatively good value. So is Snag Stand really "gourmet" and home for "heavenly haute dogs" or just cleverly marketed? A bit of both. But I will definitely try them again, and not just because the Homer Simpson in me wants to. There's enough there on the menu to suggest that there can be a party in my mouth next time.

Come on people you're new, get your act together and get some pearls. They said they were all out of pearls.. but you really just need to boil more up... unless they are pre-ordered and not that fresh. My second time there, I got my drink... but the pearls... oh lordy they were overdone, soggy, soft, mushy, stuck together... there is truly nothing worse. It was my worst nightmare. They have cold vietnamese rice paper rolls with pork and chicken, but they are 90% vermicelli and only 10% meat. They don't give you enough dipping sauce if you ask me. Don't get me started on the ice cream. My thing is, if you're going to open something up that is popular... do it well. If you're going to do something half assed don't do it at all. These guys could have improved on all aspects of these areas and attracted a lot more people to their kiosk here like the sushi bento down the food court way... but i'm not too sure why they don't. The food is vietnamese fusion chinese and the bubble tea tastes very artificial and too sweet. Could be better I think.

Initially apprehensive about eating cooked goat meat in a pie (what an odd combination!), I was blown away by the taste explosion I experienced after tucking into the Moroccan Pie (approx $7) from the Goat Pie Guy. The meat was soft and tender (as goat meat ought to be), the gravy of the right consistency and with an even distribution of spices. I couldn't stop at one! I went back for the Himalayan and we even wrapped a couple to eat later. The Goat Pie Guy knows his meat and is undoubtedly a master at pies. Hope to see him at our local Nundah Markets soon some day.

I spotted the Goat Pie Guy on the 50 meals to try in Brisbane list and while meandering through the Blackwood Street markets I was thrilled to see that he was there. The line up was only a good sign. I took my place behind other eager pie lovers and soon enough was at the front of the queue. I made the mistake of only purchasing 1 pie. The deluxe. With hot pie in hand I ambled home to share my spoils with the husband. (2nd mistake). The pie that greeted me upon release from the brown paper bag was golden, flakey, I was already drooling. After carefully dividing the pie in to equal portions I set about delicately eating (inhaling) the pie. It was everything it promised to be and more. The meat, was big, chunky and falling apart with tenderness, the gravy was thick but not gluggy and was the perfect flavour for the goat meat. The pastry was exactly what you want in a pie, crispy and flakey on top soft but firm on the bottom. I can tell you right now that from being served by THE PIE GUY who was friendly, happy and just plain cool to the heaven that was that goat pie, if and when they ever add lamb, beef or bacon to their meat pies I will be hunting him down where he sets up. This one is an absolute winner. One of THE BEST pies I've ever had.
