Unfortunately, we were ten minutes late due to traffic, and when we arrived we were told that we would have to order quickly as the kitchen shuts at three. We were rapidly seated and lingered over while we perused the menu. We started with a glass of Prosecco each and I hastily went for the pork belly and my partner went for the celeriac risotto. We didn't order starters, and I didn't really get chance to have a proper look at this part of the menu. While the children's menu is substantial, it is definitely aimed at the older ones and there wasn't really anything suitable for my 15 month old. This wasn't a problem as we knew he could share ours, plus we had brought reserves! The food came quickly and was very tasty, I couldn't fault either dish but before I had even finished mine, the waitress came round with dessert menus saying that we would have to order straight away if we wanted one. I think this is the first time that I have been made to order dessert before I have finished my main! My rhubarb and ginger cake was good but my partner was a little disappointed with his cheesecake. We ordered tea and coffee to finish and were finally able to relax. Although I can't complain about the food or the friendliness of the staff, the fact that we were rushed so much from the minute we walked in put a dampener on the experience for me. If you are not prepared to serve dinner in an unhurried fashion, don't take a booking at that time. Yes, we were 10 minutes late which was entirely our fault, but we could have also ordered starters delaying the whole process even further.

The first time we went in, it was a little Royston Vasey but we were soon made to feel super welcome. Nothing is too much and everyone is always on hand to lend advice or time. We love it! Sue and Colin that run it are GREAT and Chris who sometimes works behind the bar is a gem. They have beer festivals a few times a year with fab hog roasts and fine ales. Steak nights on a friday with local steak .... and ... wait for it ... Dominos!!!! Firstly, me and my had to wait 45 minutes for my meal, despite having booked a reservation at 18:30, the waitress serving my table did not ask for our meals until 7:15. The table was also not supplied with a drinks menu either, which I found to be particularly irritating. Secondly, the restraunt was packed out. I'm totally confident when I say that there was NOT 2 metre social distancing being observed, as we were sat too close for comfort to the next diners. Not only that, nobody was wearing any protective equipment such as face masks when entering the restraunt, and the staff did not have visors. Anyone who had an immunodeficiency or was immuno-compromised in that restraunt could've caught coronavirus and died, and it would be on the malpractice of the Rose & Crown at Dunton Green. And after the diners next to us left, the staff did not sanitize or clean the table before the next people arrived to sit down. I'm certain that this was also the case with our table, as it did not appear to have been cleaned. Other restraunt diners were allowed to smoke in close proximity to the door to the restraunt, which is we did not appreciate, as one of our party has health problems relating to the lungs. The doors were not closed properly, and people were allowed to exit via the door marked entrance. Overall, the food was mediocre at best, the service from the staff was poor, and the level of hygiene was lacking. I would not eat here again, and I will be warning all other members of the Sevenoaks Town Golf Club to not be eating here again.
