I spent too much time overthinking it. Once I was in the Marina on another errand I remembered this longtime favorite florist, The Bud Stop. I needed a delicate, small bouquet for my neighbor whose longtime companion dog of 17 years had died of old age. The Bud Stop assembled a beautiful arrangement of salmon and cream colored ranunculus, soft lilac tinted chrysanthemums and white roses. It was really perfect. The flowers were fresh and beautiful, a larger arrangement than I expected for a small budget and lovingly assembled with care. You couldn't ask for better service. Came to The Bud Shop this morning and had awesome service. The lady at the front informed me that bouquets were priced by the stem and I could tell her a budget and she'd make a bouquet for me. My bouquet was $40 and I let her build the bouquet for me with the request of dahlias and roses. There ended up being about 14-15 flowers with green filler. Before cutting the stems and wrapping the flowers the lady asked if I liked the arrangement and moved some of the flowers for me which I appreciated. The whole process took about 10 minutes. They have a wide selection of flowers and I'll definitely come back and try to select more on my own. They also have small $25 bouquets that are pre-made for anyone in a pinch. read more

Their arrangements are always so beautiful, the ordering process is super easy (in person, over the phone, or online), and they deliver same day! They always have tons of beautiful flowers to choose from, but as someone who knows very little about flowers, I appreciate their knowledge & expertise in helping me build an arrangement that the recipient will love. Pros: great selection, even better service, unique flower selection, flowers last much longer than your typical grocery store bouquet Cons: not the best location for rainy days, parking The Doghouse. Fellas, we've all been there. There are a few ways out, but all of them require some effort, time, and $$$. Fortunately, the Bud Stop is here for you. If you're like me and your evening commute takes you home via the Golden Gate, the location couldn't be more convenient (although parking can be a nightmare during brunch or dinner hours). As you can see from my photo, the setup is basically right on the sidewalk on Union St. There's rarely that long of a line as there is usually at least 2 staff members. I've used Bud Stop probably at least 6-7 times now and everytime I've been wowed by the customized bouquet that each staff member (different one each time) has made for me. What's even more impressive about this is the fact that I literally have a Tarzan-approach to picking flowers. "Uh...I like the blue one...and the yellow one....uh...." To top it off, you can expect these flowers to last much longer than the mediocre stuff you'll get at Whole Foods, or the overpriced and overly delicate stuff at Bi-Rite. Your significant other will see/remember your thoughtful gesture for an average of 5-7 days in my experience with adequate water and sunlight. Here's some hot tips: 1) Feel free to start off with a price estimate to help guide the staff. I usually start with a ballpark of 40-50$ and the bouquets are generous. 2) Consider buying one of their reasonably priced vases. That way you can literally just point to the same size vase when you come back and they know exactly what size bouquet to make for you if/when you come back. 3) You can use Apple-Pay for those days when you forget your wallet (oops) read more

I sent flowers and was told they were nice. I was told that I would receive a picture from the shop but didn't.

Ridiculously expensive! I will admit I live in a smaller town, so I'm sure flowers cost more in the city in general. But this seems outrageous. We were in town today, and the flowers looked cute, so we stopped by. An employee asked if she could help us. I asked how it worked, and she said it's priced by the stem. My partner asked if it's a set price for each stem or they vary. She responded "that's the same question" in a bit of a sassy tone. We were trying to figure out if every flower cost the same, which is not the same question, so I'm not sure what the sass was for. I didn't want a large bouquet, so I thought it would be fine. It ended being $40 for the smallest handful of flowers I've ever seen. I can get four times this amount for maybe a third of the price where I live. With equally beautiful flowers. Beautiful flowers. I go to Bud Stop every couple of weeks to get a bouquet. This review is for their delivery (Ron). Our HOA requires that we confirm a name for a delivery before buzzing someone in. When I asked Ron who the delivery was for, he said "you can come get them yourself" and left them outside. The name was on the front of the card, legible, and easy to pronounce. I'm nursing a back injury and caring for a small child. I went down to get the flowers, and also will not use Bud Stop for delivery again. Flowers are a lovely experience, and Ron's delivery took a lot of the joy from this receiver. :( read more

I contacted the Bud Stop less than a month before my wedding with a small last-minute order for a flower crown, two boutonnieres, and an entry arrangement. I had to adjust the order several times in the following weeks; throughout, they were extremely flexible and accommodating, and kept careful track of all the changes I asked for, including details like the exact shade of lilac I wanted for the entry arrangement. Cathy in particular gave great, patient guidance on palette balancing and helped me create a backup plan for any changes to seasonal availability. The final results were gorgeous and true to my vision, and they even threw in a complimentary bouquet for my walk up the aisle. Unprofessional and poor customer service. I will no longer be going here and will be discontinuing our future company orders after experiencing the level of disrespect from one one the employees. To hear the owner ask her if "she was ok" then to observe her lack of discretion to turn from the conversation from me rolling her eyes and mumbling something to her co worker is a glimpse of my experience. I experienced discrimination based on how other customers were treated who arrived before me and during my time there. I go out of my way to get flowers from here. They make the most beautiful arrangements and, while they're more expensive than your online florists (1800 flowers), worth the money. I admittedly don't know much about flowers, but I gave them some scant details, some things I liked, how I expect the flowers to be delivered/placed (up on a wall, in a vase, for a graduation gift), and my budget and they consistently delivered. I reached out to Cathy at The Bud Stop 3 months before my wedding. I've been to their shop a few times as I live nearby as they always have a wide variety of flowers. Their shop smells lovely as the flowers are always fresh. I didn't need too many arrangements for my wedding: 1 bridal bouquet, 2 bridesmaids, 2 smaller arrangements for the mothers, 4 bouts, 4 small compote arrangements, 2 long altar flowers that got repurposed for my sweetheart table and 60 bud vases that I used as centerpieces and on my cocktail tables. The color palette I wanted was blush and cream (moving to the peach end, not the pink end as I'm not a pink girl). I dropped off a swatch of my bridesmaids' dress to use as inspiration and boy did they deliver. Everything was perfect and fresh! The colors were beautiful. They used all the types of flowers I wanted. They delivered on time and was always pleasant to work with. My bridal bouquet lasted for about a week before I had to throw away on my way out to my honeymoon. I saw this flower shop from social media and wanted to check it out in person. Finally got the chance to -few months ago with my sister and mother. Located on a corner of a street, it reminds me of a place somewhere in London. Stopped by on Saturday morning around 11am. There were 3 workers, 2 ladies and 1 man. The owner who I assume was the older lady was NOT as friendly as the younger lady. I mean, we weren't even free loaders here to "just take photos". I bought 2 rose stems (each were $8 bucks). With $8 dollars, I can buy 1 dozen roses at a farmer's market. So I think we were nice to support this small business. I don't remember hearing like a genuine customer service line. I think I was in a good mood so I bought the roses. I think if I was in a bad mood, I would have walked away without buying anything at all. Anyways, back to the point, just feel the older lady was very unwelcoming, her attitude was like we were bothering her because she was trying to work. It's 11am already, does she need to hose down the cement with water?she made a mess. I mean shouldn't that be done before the shop opens or when they close? The vibe was like we were in her way or something and that she was trying to get rid of us. To make the story more funny, the man seem to enjoy staring at us while he was working. The Bud Stop is my favorite flower shop in the city. There aren't a ton of places to get very nice flowers nearby - corner stores and grocery stores are your best bets. The flowers here are very nice and you can customize your bouquet, letting them know that you're looking for and how much you want to pay. I typically order bouquets through Farm Girl Flowers but it is crazy expensive, takes a while to get the flowers shipped, and the bouquets aren't very large for what you pay. $48 for a big bouquet may not seem like a good deal but this is the Marina and they are half the price of a Farm Girl Flowers delivery. read more
