We went on Sunday17th of February, for a late Sunday lunch, 2.15.
unfortunately wew had to wait for our prebooked table; but it was very busy. That was the only down side, everything else was perfection.
Once we got a table and ordered, the service was remarkably swift.
I had the crispy duck, in an orange sauce. It was suberb1 The duck relly did have a crispy skin, but the meat was tender and succulent. The sauce was piquant and not too string. Sometimes it can be too sweet, and cloying. I had to fight off my companions,who all wanted to try it.
One of our party and the fish and chips, more a whale really. The steak was reported as just right, for a very picky eater.
two people newarly finished theworld famous, Lamb Henry. and pronounced it as good as ever.
The roast beef was excellent, and the portion sizes and vegetables, very generous!!
We didn't think we could manage deserts, but after a short break, weer tempted by the crumble, cheesecake, chocolate brownies with white chocolate icecreamdeliciousthe best icecream I have ever had; but I had to fight off the vultures, to keep it to myself.
I have been going to the Broughton Arms for many years, in fact, I remember when the proprietors ran the black horse! The food never fails to please!
For me, the decor is a little tired and dated, and the tables are very small and close together.
I am disabled and found it very difficult to squeeze between the tables.
Had I taken my wheelchair, it would have been a nightmare!!
Our party of six, thoroughly enjoyed it, and I have no hesitation in recommending it, as one of the premier restaurants in the area! read more
