Great fish cafe that's a step up from the typical fish and chip shop by the beach. The lunch menu is quite traditional, dominated by burgers, fish and chips and other fried seafood options. I went for the $10.50 NZ Hoki and chips, which was a generous size. (Don't forget to ask for chicken salt!) The burgers looked even better, lovely and fresh, although I'm told it was sausage mince rather than a proper patties. The basic burger is a good-value $8.50, $6 extra to add on chips and a soft drink. Just be warned - the fishermans basket is ideally shared, as indicated but he $18 price tag. Lots of fried food! On Friday and Saturday evenings, they have a fancier menu, with options such as fajitas, Mexican-style barramundi and shared platters. There's also the option to BYO (possibly for free?) I hop onto Google since Yelp did not have much, the first one that came through was the "Legendary Fish & Chips". Yelp did not said much on this restaurant, so I decided to give it a try. The place is very casual. The restaurant has a peculiar set up. Half of it is a convenient store while the other half is the kitchen. The dining experience is not fancy. Select your combo, pay for it, wait for it to be ready, take away and dine it anywhere. Outside the store, outdoor parasol and benches are provided! To be honest, as long as the food taste great at a reasonable price; it does not need music and high class decor! The menu varies a little according to the fishing market. So do expect small fluctuations in the menu. I recommend carrying cash to avoid using EFPOS / Credit Card. Card payment attracts a 1.6% surcharge as to date. Onto the menu, there are a bunch of combos you can choose. They offer burgers as well, but why would you? The fish & chips are freshly made in front (which requires a short wait). Staffs is very nice. The restaurant cook also allows you to select a wide range of fish which you can have as your main. I do not have anything positive to say about the chips... The chip is boring... But the fish is the real gold. I have eaten Fish & Chips at some fine restaurant which costed more and taste like sand paper... But not this one! The fish does really stands up to the "legendary" title. It is smooth & buttery on the inside and crispy on the outside. I wish I had second piece of fish for another $7.00... But when the cars stop the bell birds come through loud and clear and you soak up the sun shine in joy. There's a huge parking lot to the right of the estate, easy to find a spot. There's a small kids park/playground with a swing set up. You'll find this place sort of a throw back as the guys that run this place are living true to olden day times. No modern doodads and the ladies have super long locks as they don't cut their hair with their cotton clothes. They make the bread on sight, the eggs are laid by the cluck clucks out the back so my toast and eggs were divine. The coffee is actually surprisingly good! They have small cups and big mugs for those of us that need a super hit to keep driving instead of curling up under a tree in the sunshine. There's oaken tables inside and seating outside under umbrellas out the front and a cosy outside area out the back too covered in trellis flowers and seating. There's small items that are all handmade for sale inside that I'll be going to check out soon. So if you're in the area or want to do a day trip, this is a beautiful country road drive out here with fresh air and wildlife to listen to. The cars are a watching point too. As are the bikes on good days. Lovely day trip if you want a day out.

I visited this place a week after the other so it was still vivid and fresh in my mind. They are different places ran by the same people. Even the menu items are different. But as with the Yellow Deli, the food was amazing and worth the wait. Next time I think I'll try the Ruben Sandwich that they are known for. The green drink is also done right and it was my first time having it. Will be back here again and tell all my friends about it. They also are priced quite reasonable compare to most places these days. Their pies are amazing too, don't usually go for dessert but no skipping that here.

I had an iced coffee and the sumac-spiced chicken salad, very filling for $13 and such freshflavours. My company had one of the burger options and was incredibly happy, another had the pastrami sandwich (and was also very impressed by his coffee). Very keen to return for the breakfast menu, which we missed out on by about 40 minutes. I guess the only negative is that it's not very atmospheric - the furnishing is very minimalist and the sound echoes a lot which is a shame if there's a table of loud people there at the time.
