I was a little disappointed this time because this nursery use to be my go to store for dahlias but they have only carried the basic types of dahlias that you can find at all the other nursery's. Last summer when I went they had dahlias that I have never seen in nursery's before. the employees kept to themselves when I visited today. They aren't consistent with greeting or helping. but overall this is a place I trust when it comes to buying healthy plants from. The prices are pretty fair so I recommend checking shades nursery if you haven't already!

One BIG selling point was use of the microphone for our presentation. It failed us miserably. The people in charge did not check the microphone, it did not work, no replacement on hand, complete failure to provide this needed and excepted resource, they were not available the entire day for help, and when we ask for a partial refund, they agreed to it, but now won't pay. They refuse to call back, reach out, unless we continually bug them. They have yet to refund us a portion of our fee as they agreed to. They are making it very difficult to find them and work with them. It's such a bummer, because we liked the venue, but working with them is less than desirable. Buyer beware - they are non responsive when you really have a need for feedback and help.

We added pictures to the tables and brought in the food and didn't have to worry about the rest. Cleanup was so easy, which was wonderful after a long day because other than the kitchen we didn't have to do anything. The venue is beautiful. When it looked like it might rain, the owners contacted us and asked if we wanted to move some of the outdoor seating inside and were able to advise us on which tables would be covered that could still be outside. They had everything ready to go by the time we got there so when it started to rain I knew it would be ok because they had already prepared for it.

However, I appreciate the uniqueness of the small businesses and the slower pace. Sure, I miss the occasional cocktail, but I also don't mind dry entertainment. Last night's adventure brought me to a live music event here at Velour. I did a little research ahead of time and learned that seating is extremely limited, as is the parking. So come early, in comfy shoes, and set your expectations accordingly. The ambience inside is sort of dark, moody and intimate. There's a dramatic feel to the place, without any (obvious) drama. Doors didn't open until 6:30, and there was a line along the sidewalk of folks waiting to get in. That added to the "big city" feel of the place, even for a not-so-big city. The acoustics were good, if not a tad loud. (Yup, I'm showing my age.) The lighting was colorful and energetic, not just a boring stagnant few slights. I would likely return to see a lively act that I'm really interested in-someone that I wouldn't mind standing in a crowd of people to watch.
