We arrived at approximately 9 p.m., and from the moment we pulled up in front of the ER, we felt welcomed and cared for. Tiffany, a pharmacy technician, greeted us with a wheelchair. She was kind, compassionate, and efficient as she helped my husband out of the car. While I parked our car, she stayed with my husband and assisted him with the check-in process and escorted us to his room. The triage and nursing staff were prompt, attentive, and genuinely empathetic. His nurse, Steven, explained every step of the process, which helped calm my husband's nerves and made him feel safe and comfortable in his care. Steven listened carefully to my husband's concerns and took the time to listen to me as well. Although the emergency room was busy, the entire staff worked seamlessly together to ensure my husband was comfortable and well cared for. Everyone treated us with kindness and professionalism, and we truly appreciated the teamwork and compassion shown throughout the visit. Even the discharge process was smooth and straightforward, with clear instructions provided to both my husband and me. We were incredibly fortunate to have such dedicated personnel such as Tiffany and Steven caring for us at St. Joseph's South. Their compassion and professionalism made a stressful situation much easier. We are so glad St. Joseph's South Hospital opened in Riverview, and we are grateful to have this wonderful resource in our community.

I have ongoing concerns about communication and informed consent during my labor and delivery, particularly regarding Pitocin (oxytocin). My recollection is that I was told my IV was "just fluids," and I do not recall being informed that Pitocin was being administered. Since then, I have repeatedly requested a copy of the consent documentation the hospital says covered this medication, along with the hospital's Pitocin policy in effect at the time. As of this review, I have not received the signed consent form I requested or the policy. I have contacted the hospital and pursued the appropriate complaint channels, but I still have unanswered questions about the documentation and communication surrounding my care. This experience has had a lasting personal impact on me, including anxiety surrounding future pregnancy and childbirth. I would prefer to resolve my concerns directly and amicably, and I hope the hospital will provide a clear written response and the documentation I have requested. I am sharing my experience because communication, transparency, and helping patients understand their care are deeply important to me. UPDATE PLEASE READ Update: Since posting this review, I made further attempts to clarify why BayCare has not provided the signed general consent form it says covered Pitocin or the hospital's relevant policy from September 2021. I specifically asked David, the Patient Relations Manager, to clarify whether these documents were unavailable or whether BayCare was declining to provide them. David ultimately informed me that BayCare's review was closed, no further review was planned, and there was no additional information, records, or documentation to provide. When I sought further clarification about my outstanding requests, I was told there would be no further response. My concern remains that BayCare says Pitocin was covered by general consent, yet I have not been provided with the signed consent form I requested. I cannot determine whether additional documentation exists internally; I can only speak to what I have received. I had hoped to resolve this directly and amicably, but my specific questions remain unanswered.

Not quite ready for that lifestyle yet. What I can say is that everyone was very friendly, the building was beautiful and very clean. What I did not like was that the outside area was very cramped and claustrophobic to me. Besides the Assisted Living building there were rows of apartment buildings for seniors. Just too much in a small space. If I needed to live in an Assisted Living place I would check this one out (although they did say it was full) Once inside, I liked it very much.

Now he calls me up all the time to tell me how much he loves living there and how glad he is that I found him such a nice place! Aston Gardens is a Senior Independent Living Community. There are many singles but also couples. Apartments range in size from 687 sq ft apartment with one bedroom and 1 bath, to 1525 sq ft 2 bedroom 2 bath with formal dining room and a den. All apartments have a full kitchen, laundry, storage unit, and a porch. My dad chose a two bedroom unit with 1.5 baths which was perfect for him. He has enough room, but it is not too big for him either. He has one room set up as an exercise room / office, and uses the smaller bedroom for sleeping. It is a nice bright upscale apartment with a screened in porch. When my Dad first moved in he was able to still drive his golf cart and there are parking spaces where you can plug in and keep your golf cart covered for a reasonable monthly fee. In case you are not familiar with Sun City Center Florida, they have special lanes all over town just for golf carts. You can get around town with just a golf cart, so seniors can have more independence without having to drive a car. Golf carts do not require a license to drive and they also do not require the expense of insurance. Besides the apartment at Aston Gardens, your rent includes housekeeping once a week. They also change your sheets and wash your towels. Aston Gardens provides meals for residents that are also included in the rent and available in the dining room. We were invited to have lunch and dinner with a few residents to try it out. At the time my father moved in they were offering a special of one month free. Do not be afraid to negotiate on price or moving expenses! One of the things I liked about Aston Gardens is that he had buttons and pull cords in his apartment in case he needed help. Also he had to check in once a day or they would check on him! The rent includes rides if needed and there are many activities to choose from. The complex is on beautiful grounds that look more like a resort than a retirement community. The grounds are surrounded by a golf course and include an outdoor swimming pool. If you find that you need extra help you can get it in your apartment. So far my Dad does not need it, but it is nice to know it is there. He does take advantage of the barber shop and sometimes he needs help with writing something out to send in the mail. Extra help in a residents apartment is an extra expense, but the staff at Aston Gardens can help you arrange it. I am so glad that we found Aston Gardens for my Dad. I feel ALIVE again!! My therapist, Marlene, Dr. Camile Santarpio and psychiatrist Laylani went above and beyond! They gave me the life that I always dreamed of!! The therapists leading the groups by Olivia, Rob, Karah, Andrea, Bethany, and Shannon were so powerful and safe spaces.. and that helped me work through so much of my trauma. They also renewed my faith in doctors, one that had been killed by so many doctors in my past 22 years of chronic illness and chronic pain. The support staff, Laurel, Zella, Terry, Danielle, Taneisha, Haleigh, Tarjei and Thomas, always went above and beyond their call of duty to do whatever they could to help.. and I'm so grateful for them! Originally I was only going to stay for detox and I kept prolonging my stay because I could see and feel the difference it was making within me. I will forever speak their praises!! Currently 69 days sober and a lifetime to go!! p.s. so grateful for the housekeepers, Rosie and Milagros for being like my aunties throughout my stay. This place is an absolute nightmare. The staff barely know how to work the computers and system and…read moreare constantly getting medications wrong. People detoxing from alcohol or benzos are having seizures left and right because the doctors and nurses are getting meds wrong. My friend who just left was sent home with a mislabeled bottle of her medication filled with ibuprofen instead of the vistaril (which was also wrong) that was on the label. Treatment assistants are ill-equipped to handle most conflicts and staff are constantly lying to the clients. For example, I agreed with my case manager to discharge from treatment on the 20th, but they told me on the morning of the 20th that my stay is being extended to the 21st because 'too many people are discharging on the 21st for us to handle so that might be why you were pushed back.' Try to find the logic in that statement. Doctors will actively avoid you if you need something and are trying to find them; I asked one to see her, she said maybe, and I knocked on her door twice. She then opened the door with her work bag in hand trying to get away from me. I politely reminded her that I needed to talk to her, then she sighed and sat me down. Case managers here will tell you that they need to talk to you, then proceed to refuse to talk to you. It's poorly run by higher-ups, they cut costs in every way possible. They claim to do PHP and IOP services but those were cut and they have not taken it off the website, which I am assuming is because they want to draw people in. If you're looking for 90-day treatment because they advertise it on their website, then I hate to break it to you, but they DO NOT do that anymore. The whole 'executive-chef prepared meals' thing is a lie, 90% of their food is cheap shit that comes in boxes and bags. They don't really do outdoor activities, like they advertise. They don't do excursions. The whole twelve-step walking path thing that they say they have is gone. The gym is under-equipped and you'd be lucky to find two dumbbells of the same weight. If you came here years ago and loved the amenities, they're probably all gone. The beds are comfortable, at least. However, if you use a towel to shower and hang it up, cleaning staff will take and not replace it. One time I had to dry myself off with my own clothes because they didn't replace the towels and I was on my fourth day without a shower (not by choice, mind you). The treatment assistant was bewildered that I would do such a thing, but I had no other option. They lock you out of your rooms from 8:30 to 4:30 and will not let you back in for ANY reason. If you need to grab something important or lay down because you're feeling off, tough shit. They even took the couches out of the lounge in the schoolhouse building because people occasionally used them to sleep. They took the piano out of the music room for unknown reasons, and just removed the drum kit for, again, unknown reasons. There was a client here groping women and it took the complaints of about 10 clients, and eventually a fistfight, for them to kick him out. Many of the group leaders are not qualified; some are condescending and some spit the same platitudes at you every day. A 'therapist' that actually only has a counseling certificate forged records that the saw one of my friends for three therapy sessions when they had actually never even met. Some 'doctors' do not even have the certifications to call them that but they still call them doctors. Knowing what I know now, I would only come here if I had nowhere else to go. If you can find another treatment facility that takes your insurance, I'd advise you go there instead.

Before my dad was transferred there, I stopped by there without an appointment to check out the facility. I was immediately greeted and welcomed by the friendly staff and given a tour of the facility. The facility was clean and pleasant smelling. The rooms were very nice and spacious, the shared rooms looked as though the residents had plenty of space, and did not look cramped at all. Once my dad arrived, he was put in a very nice private room with a ton of space. All of the office staff, his nurses and nursing assistants, therapists and doctors have all been very sweet, and do such a wonderful job taking care of my dad. The physical, occupational, and speech therapy my dad receives have been top notch. He had been in another facility a couple months back and the therapy he received was the absolute minimum and didn't help him at all. The therapists at Hawthorne truly care about their patients making progress. The speech therapist, Brittany is so sweet and caring. I get to spend more time with her because I am often there when she comes to his room to work with him on his eating. She lets me bring in his favorite banana cream pies and she stores them in the fridge, so she can feed him when working with him on his eating, instead of the usual apple sauce. When I to go to the therapy gym, it is very busy, and all the therapists are working hard with their patients. My dad has already made a lot of progress in just the couple of weeks he has been there, as they really push him. They all make him feel so welcome and always happy to see him. My dad has dementia, so it can be scary leaving him at a new place, knowing he cannot communicate that well. I visit my dad at different times every day, and every time I go, I always find he has been well taken care of. I also enjoy taking my dad outside in his wheelchair so he can feed the ducks at the pond that is located in front of the entrance. If you are looking for a skilled nursing rehab facility for your loved one, I cannot recommend Hawthorne enough.

Having spent my career as a medical practice manager, it takes a lot to impress me in this field. The facility was very clean and inviting. Reception staff was very nice. Great waiting room for the kids with activities to keep them busy. MA and echo tech were awesome with the kids. Each room had a TV in it playing a Disney movie, so kids always had something to watch, very smart. I wish I remembered the Cardiologists names that checked out the boys. Both were awesome, very informative, never felt rushed. Very calming for concerned parents, and in this case, grandmother! Would highly recommend All Childrens Specialty Care of Brandon for your child if they are in need of a specialist for your child!
