There are some really great beers here. I had a pint of Cascade which was a vey light ale and my friend had a pint of Coco which was a more bitter pint. Both were great and very reasonably at a total of £6.70. They don't do food yet but this will be happening fairly soon as they have a brand new kitchen just built. This is a pub to experience and I look forward to coming back and trying the food. If they do the food to the same high standard they will do well indeed!

A good selection of beers were on tap from home and away, plus they serve the excellent Manx Cider Co cider on tap - well worth having if you're popping by and are a real cider fan. The clientele was a mixed bunch (aren't they always when everywhere else is shutting) - we're all beer hounds in this together! A good place to hit on a night out if maybe not the cosiest pub type of place. The excellent Bath and Bottle down the road is also open late if you're looking for a couple of bars to hit once the traditional boozers are closing up for the evening.

We started with some onion rings. They were crispy, not too greasy and full of onion (rather than primarily breading). They also came with a great garlic aioli and a sweet and sour sauce (the type served with egg rolls at a Chinese restaurant). The star of the meal was the Sunday roast. I was recently disappointed in one down the road and even the best I had on the island was just good. This one was great. The lamb was tender and felt freshly cooked. The Yorkshire was huge. The roasted potatoes were clearly made fresh and made properly. The mash was also clearly home made. Even the carrots and green beans tasted like they were just made. Overall, a great meal and I plan to return.

The staff was very polite and efficient and they were constantly buzzing around cleaning and organizing. Very good spot.

This place WAS once a normal "local" pub - no idea what direction it's heading in - but it's not gonna sell much beer if it's closed...!! Maybe the brewery are after selling it off as a non-runner?? The new manager seems to have had a personality bypass and is definitely NOT very suited to running a real pub; based on the recent changes!

For the money (£6.50) I expect a better portion size. The wings themselves were nothing to rave about and were served with a cheap BBQ sauce on the side. Not pleasant. The fish and chips fared a bit better and to be fair the fish was done nicely however the amount of chips you got (come on its potatoes) seemed a bit miserable. Looking at other items on the menu I noticed they have a 10oz steak for £18. Seems a bit steep but as I didn't have it I can't say much more than it has put me off coming back again. Owned by Okells it stocks probably one of the island's best selections of their rare and seasonal beers so if there's some of their specials that you want to try then make sure you get here and you can drink it on tap as opposed to just buying in bottles to take away. Just watch out for what's locally known as 'the star wars bar' - a place you need to go through the mens loos to get to, that should probably tell you all you need to know...it's a strange place where I don't think many people ever leave...

It's definitely got a lot more character than the only other pub around here (the identikit Archie Knox) and is a place where the audience is pretty diverse - pretty much all coming along for a classic pub chilling out session. The layout is very much of the classic two pub rooms setup, with a large bar in each, a pool table in one and plenty of seating in both. There's a "beer garden" out the back although if the truth be known I think the only greenery on offer are the weeds which grow out of the cracks in the carpark pavement. To be honest "beer carpark" is probably more appropriate! There's a great selection of local beer Okells on pump and bottle and special note has to go to their green labeled IPA and blue labeled wheat beer 'Maclir' - both £3.60 a large bottle and super tasty! The Manxie does what it does well, I imagine it will still be the same sort of place in 100 years time!

A fairly large quayside boozer, I don't think you could ever call it cosy but it's nice to see that it's kept its original features well and there seems to be different parts of the bar for different times of the day. Their beer was heavily focussed on usual rubbish lagers, a great selection of local beers from Okells and some exciting craft beers from the UK and further afield. Not a bad place to pop into for a few pints - give it a shot as the quay area is a lovely place to be, especially in summer.

Everyone else had the much less healthy fish and chips! (I must admit I stole a bit from my wife though!). All I will say is wow and yum! Lovely crisp batter, beautiful flaky haddock and the tartar sauce it came with was excellent. Definitly worth getting! All in all a great pub meal and worth coming here for!
