The office staff has done their best to accommodate during these times and has been responsive when issues arise. Everyone I have dealt with has been helpful & polite. Though the community is right off the highway, it's serene and there are even deer everywhere which makes it so nice to sit and chill on the patio. Update: this part of the review doesn't reflect on the on-site property management, but the owner of the property and their lack of provided resources.... The property has only one maintenance person who takes care of EVERYTHING on site which is unheard of for a sizeable community. He does his absolute best (seriously hes always on the go) but there's only so much one person can do at a time, and unfortunately the community maintenance tasks aren't handled in much of a timely manner because of that. My unit also has preexisting water damage, and the first week we moved in I was told someone was scheduled to come out and install gutters a few days later. Well, it's been about a month and no one has come to install anything for us. I hope Texas is gracious with the weather while we live here because I'm terrified of living in mold, we're having my home flood. The pool also is pretty gross every time I go- again, the owner clearly has set such a slim budget for the community that they don't have the ability to hire a proper pool company to maintain and clean it. On site staff- 5 stars...great & doing what they can with what they've been given. The folks at the top making budget calls- 0 stars for y'all.

Basically, living by myself, I picked the cheapest and closest option to the hospital. Talk about a 4 minute commute at 5 in the morning to your surgery morning clerkship, that is if you hit every light. My classmates lived in the more popular venues, of which are the Chappells and Encore. Definitely check those out too. Walking into Marland, depending on your rental history, you would think it's super old and this observation would be further verified by the older age range of most of the residents. It seems to be a retirement community situated funnily enough next to a senior nursing home. The complex is "gated," but depending on the mood of management, can oftentimes be open. Overall though, I would definitely say I never felt unsafe, even while walking my dog late into the night. Front desk staff is nice and friendly. During my stay there, there was a lot of staff turnover or at the very least rotating of staff between the properties. Move-out process was easy and fee-free, got my entire deposit back. They worked with me in terms of termination date as I left in the middle of the month prior to the start of my away rotations in different cities to save money. They pro-rated my rent and the staff even helped me carry my mattress out hah. My stay at Marland was definitely affected by a life changing event in which the efficiency building caught on fire and resulted in the death of my neighbor. Cause of the fire was never disclosed, so I cannot comment on who is at fault. During the event, I would definitely say the lack of fire alarm notification definitely worried me. We were all lucky to escape. Management was helpful about relocating everyone and situated us in new units during the reconstruction at a similar rent rate even despite larger units. The whole building has been rebuilt from the ground up following the disaster. What really struck me at Marland, was the response rate of maintenance. You can be certain if you have a problem it will be fixed super fast. Overall, in spite of what happened, I do not regret my stay at Marland in its entirety. There are certainly better options in town, but this was not too shabby.

Maintenance staff, well they are great too! If you are out walking, they all speak and may even stop and visit with me for a few minutes. Love living here, convenient to work and shopping. the only complaint I have is the large increase in my rent when the lease was up. I'll pay it, simply because I like it here. Landscape is beautiful, neighbors are quiet and it's just peaceful around the community. I'd recommend this neighborhood to anyone, safe too!

For those hot days in the sun, the pool is great for a nice, cool plunge. Our manager, Starr, is down to earth and very approachable. When things go wrong, with one request, things are made right. The Oaks at Creekside are PET FRIENDLY We have dog stations around the property and a dog park. They are human friendly as well The celebrations around this place have been plentiful with food and drink. Sometimes giftcards are won by residence for Community participation in whatever event our dream team of Starr and Natasha come up with. Our maintenance team are polite, efficient, and dedicated. Off hour emergencies are handled within the hour! The gym is modern and open 24-7. We are close to everything! Take a left you are heading to Scott and White hospital or Burger King. We very rarely hear our upstairs neighbors and our neighbor downstairs says she rarely hears us. The office staff is nice and helpful, and they are very quick to fulfill maintenance requests. My only reason for four instead of five stars is that this place is extremely and perhaps overly expensive. They have trouble renting out empty units and I'm sure the price is part of it. They were running a $500 off your first months rent special when we leased here, but just to put it in perspective rent + water is over $1100 a month for the 2bed/2bath. If that's what you're looking for, I recommend this place because it's a good location if you work in Temple and the management is great to work with. I've been in places where the management was terrible, so I know how important management is to a good leasing and living experience.

Emails are usually answered quickly, during office hours. The maintenance staff are efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. The office staff are easy to talk to, and take time to listen to whatever you have to say. The parking areas are well lit at night. I always felt safe there. There are no cars or neighbors with overly loud music. The grounds are nicely manicured, and the pools are tested and well maintained. Can't say enough good about this hidden gem, just north of Austin, and the good people who manage it.
