Too bad the service ruins the food. As a local i am finally giving up on this place. Management never acknowledges service issues. Last night ordered loaded fries with my meal. My meal came out but the not fries. I had to remind he server who first acted like I never ordered them then came back 5 mins later and stated the kitchen burned them and were re-making. After waiting we finally told the waiter to cancel the fries. She never even apologized.... This is consistent at the restaurant. They never apologize for mistakes and the owners never come over and apologize either. read more

Expectations-heard the food was good but that it was more of a ravens sports bar. Food-incredible, had the grouper sandwich and it was delicious, twice as much as grouper as expected also. Decor- A little place at the end of the beach that would be impossible to find without a GPS, a raven's sports bar up a dark staircase from the Street- was very concerned. Price-well worth it, whatever it is. After eating there, you will revisit this place many times either for the food or as a raven's fan or both. read more

Ate here on Easter. Not too busy and seemed to be fully staffed. There were six of us. When I asked a passing waiter about our food he looked at me with hate on his face, tall blond guy. This is our absolutely favorite place in the St Pete's beach area. Great food, healthy servings, good libations and good service to boot. The ahi tuna and the Grouper are our favorites but the burgers are excellent as well. It just a comfortable place to dine. And I can't forget to mention the view of the Gulf from the outdoor patio! Stopped in for a late lunch. Waited for an outside table and had a drink at the bar. Service was good, big menu with lots to choose from. We started with the monkey balls (crab cakes) which were great. Onion rings were good, too. Had the Caribbean wrap that was very good with a spicy jerk chicken and the Blue Steak salad which was excellent. View from the balcony over the beach was awesome! I've never been more disappointed in a Florida eatery or any eatery than this poor excuse for a restaurant! Man, the service totally sucked the pipe! This place sat us down, the ambient noise was terrible and my wife and I am from the Chicagoland area and are used to crowded eatery/bar noise and this joint was deafening...our server stood "at attention" pushing us to order a drink from their specialty drink/beer/wine menu we'd never seen before-we told her it was our first time ther-and when we did order the drinks and appetisers, we never saw her pushy face again! We were ignored the bar tender was actively cleaning up his bar so we knew she never even turned in our drink order let alone our food order. We waited conservatively for 20 minutes while other people waited to have their tables cleared. Stay away, this joint is a "tag the tourist and take their cash/time" joint and they don't deserve to be patronized! read more

A Maryland, Ravens, Orioles Bar!!!! The best bar in St Pete's and the most fun. Try their Orange Crush's...best on the Florida Coast...and there Expresso Martini's are to die for. (ask my wife, Kathy) Great food.....Their fish spread is amazing...made from mullet (which I find weird, but it's absolutely delicious....I order it everytime I'm there), Monkey Balls (crab) are excellent and the seared tuna is second to none (5 stars). Great atmosphere...hospitable owners (Sport Celebrity) and friendly bartenders...in a great location. If you visit St Pete's and miss this venue, you lose!!! read more

When we visited in October 2016, we were turned away because the bartender didn't want to change one of the channels. The hostess even admitted that the bartender was a jerk. That's bad when your own employees call out bad business and behavior. If I were the manager or owner of this restaurant, I would be furious if my employee turned away customers. Dropped by on a whim and we were pleasantly surprised. Super nice and helpful staff. Brad was our server and helped make our visit a fun one. I ordered the grouper reuben and my friend ordered the chicken quesadilla. Both were delicious. It's always fun when you are placing your order and the server gets excited! The reuben was the best. I recently dined at Tommy Bahama's and ordered the same thing. There was no comparison, Brass Monkey's was far superior in taste. Do not go to this restaurant! On vacation in St. Pete and was looking for a casual restaurant with a good view of the gulf. Well, the view was there but the food and service was beyond awful. My husband's shrimps's were raw, and when he was trying to get the waiter's attention, the waiter was on his cell phone. Young toddlers were running all over the place as the doors to the kitchen opened and closed abruptly. The place was run by young kids with no manager in sight. As we were leaving without giving a gratuity, the waiter screamed out in front of the few people in the restaurant, " You may have not been happy with the food, but that should not take away from the service." I had the much hyped crab cakes and the flavor was ordinary. Best part of my meal was the Funky Monkey drink (think banana smoothie with booze). Loved, loved, loved this place! Started with an order of steamed shrimp seasoned with Old Bay - biggest shrimp I've ever had and so tasty! Then had the grouper sandwich, which had a healthy portion of grouper, well seasoned with lemon pepper. My husband had the grouper reuben which he said was amazing. Our waiter was Lee, and he took great care of us, further enhancing our experience. This place was absolutely awful. My family and I went to grab a bite to eat after the beach. First, we were told there would be a 40 minute wait; however, the old, mean hostess decided to take in a couple of walk ins after us right away. Then, she sat another party who's name was on the waitlist that came after us! The old hag was nothing but rude and kept telling everyone a different wait time. On top of it, we had a toddler with us and she showed no compassion. Then, when we sat down, our waitress barely ever came by. The soup was cold and disgusting. Drinks took forever. And the food took over an hour. We ended up leaving before we even got our entrees because we were tired of waiting. We had asked for the manager and he never showed. He was supposedly in the kitchen since they were short staffed back there and that's why everything was taking so long. The old woman in the front as a hostess needs to go. Downright rude and doesn't know what she's doing. I've been a hostess for over ten years and she definitely has no clue what she's doing. Will never be back again. Not worth it. Go across the street, that place looks a lot nicer and friendlier. read more

On vacation in the area last week.... had one meal here: Blackened Tuna Sandwich. HOLY SH*T - not kidding, best F-ING sandwich I think I have ever had! Other: the setting, the service, etc. Ok, nothing special. If you are looking for a place to have a beer, people watch off the deck/ watch the sun set, dont mind 'the bar/ frat' feel - then this place would be great. My husband and I were visiting my son and his family who were staying at the condo that is attached to this horrible place. We asked the locals where to go for dinner and they suggested "The Brass Monkey". The service was the worst I have ever experienced. I do believe our server was totally high. He was the rudest, dis-interested, sarcastic server! We wanted to sit on the deck and asked if we could put a table and a smaller table together so the 6 of us could sit together and be out of the sun...you would have thought we had just asked for a million dollars. They eventually did push them together, but then we waited forever for our surly server to show up. He totally forgot to enter my husband's order, so that when the rest of us were served, we had to ask where the other meal was? The server never apologized and my husband received his meal 20 minutes after us...and raw! My son had to go inside to ask if we could have a re-fill of tea. The server actually came out and poured warm tea in our ice-less glasses!! Them my son had to go back inside and get ice! I couldnt believe this guy had the nerve to give us our check without a word. An 130.00 tab and we couldnt eat half the meal..it was so gross. When we asked if there was a manger to speak to, the young girl inside said ....ummm, I don't think so. We will never be back to say the least. BTW, the Crabcake is the worst!!! I have never posted a review of a restaurant before, but people need to be warned about this place...Stay Away!! read more

Quality control and the safety of their customers is not their priority! FOOD POISONING! My fiance were very pleased to have a table on the outside deck with a stunning view of the Gulf of Mexico at sunset on a Friday night! We started our meal with tasty loaded fries and a couple drinks.....We also excitedly ordered the grilled grouper house salad for each of us for grouper is superb in Florida. We were happy when it arrived but later realized that this fish had a strong fishy taste and smell. She decided to return hers for something else. I decided to keep mine for I trusted that the chef would not send out old fish that would make someone sick. Besides, we waited awhile and I was hungry!.......Boy was I wrong!!! I spent last night with little sleep dealing with horrendous sharp stomache pain, dehydration, nausea and body pain. This morning after I continue with these symptoms and hope to vomit to eliminate the toxin in me to help rid the pain and nausea! I go to restarants with trust that they use quality control to serve fine fresh food and keep their customers safe! Brass Monkey, you failed miserably! I used to trust that I would not get food poisoning from a restaurant! I have learned to not trust. THANKS BRASS MONKEY! Worse dining experience in my entire life. Six of us dined there which included 2 senior citizens that were nearly 80. Slow service. It took us about an hour to receive our entrees. There are 4 entrees ordered since 2 of the couples split their meals. My chicken salad sandwich was good. My wife ordered a tuna sandwich. She asked for medium rare. It came in an exact rectangle shape and was like a brick. Overdone. Like the kind that you buy frozen and microwave (no doubt the case here). When we we returned it, we could see the cook in the kitchen and his defensive confrontational expression. I looked at my wife and said, "Did you see that?". She did and it was like a scene out of Kitchen Nightmare where the kitchen staff lives in a state of denial. Our friends asked for a grouper sandwich and the waitress assured them that it was fresh grouper and it was never frozen. Their sandwich was so tough they couldn't chew it. They demonstrated it. It was so tough, a part of their fish that you couldn't push it with your fingers which was also demonstrated to the staff as they took that back. The elderly couple who had been pretty quiet were sharing their featured Maryland crab cakes. Some young guy emerged with long black hair and asked the elderly couple if they liked their crab cakes. They said, "not really, it is full us shells and sand". The young guy took their plate away and said, "we will take this off for you". The BIG SHOCKER came when we paid the bill. They had charged us for the crab cakes and to add insult to injury they added the gratuity. WOW!. HERE IS THE INSANE PART. During this whole time, a manager never came to our table. When I saw my bill, in a very quiet and polite way, asked the bartender if I could speak to the manager. At that time a middle age heavy set lady very abruptly in a confrontation tone said "I am the manager". Three seconds into explaining, the manager rose her voice and ranting loud enough for everybody in the restaurant to hear, "they ate most of the crab cakes...you have to pay for something". I spoke in even a calmer voice saying lets ask them and directed her over to our table. Where I asked the very gentle elderly man about the crab cakes. He was very disturbed and said "they were terrible... we did not eat them and did not like them". Then the composure of the manager (using the term loosely) even became worse as she stormed off in a childish way. I walked over to her and again in a very calm voice asked if we discussed this. She said no and yelled "just pay your bill". I never met anybody so unprofessional and she was very much in denial. Rather than to assume that anything was wrong with her food, she felt and expressed to us that we were just trying to not pay our bill. To avoid the situation becoming any uglier, I paid the bill. I had a sick feeling in my stomach, an awful feeling. It's not the money, its the principle of being treated like that and having to deal with such an unreasonable person. read more

We are from Maryland but now live in St. Pete. We were very hopeful for a great time, but, unfortunately had a really terrible experience. The hostess was inattentive and seated whichever party was standing closest to her, not in the order we came in. We were there for 2 whole hours before getting our food. Other tables started getting up to go look for the waiter and asking anyone they could find for their checks. If they were busy I'd understand but they were only at about half of their capacity. We tried bringing our concerns to the hostess, the waiter, and then finally the GM and none of those people seemed to care at all. Our comments were met with rude disregard and complete dismissal by the GM. To make matters worse, my boyfriend got very sick from the cream of crab soup (the only thing he ate there) immediately after getting home.
