Just some of their many limonages!
    Mia M.

This is an adorable weird little store! They have hundreds if not thousands of limoges, which are these little porcelain boxes. The woman working there was extremely friendly and told us that all of them were hand painted porcelain and shipped from Italy. Each piece is unique and they have them in everything you could imagine, from cats and dogs to vegetables and even chairs! You could spend hours looking at these. They're all around $140-225 because of the detail that goes into making them, so we left without buying any but we were obsessed with this shop

Have you heard of Limoge or have you been living under a rock with me? I spotted a little display case featuring some selections in Hotel Monteleone. I later passed by The Brass Monkey and wanted to have a peek inside the store. I had zero clue what Limoges were. I glanced over the shelves rather quickly and once having a more in-depth conversation with the sales associate here I discovered just how interesting and unique they are. If you're a collector or know someone who is, this store has soooo many. I quickly became fascinated in spotting certain very fun designs (lighthouses, golf theme, cakes, coffee and beignets, hamburger, hot air balloon). Really, there's just about anything you can think of. I'm not a big collector of anything much but I can see how this could become an exciting habit. Mind you, they aren't exactly inexpensive- most range from $165-$250ish a piece in this store. Next time I'm in Paris, I'm determined to take a little trip to Limogé and who knows I may just start up a small collection for shits and giggles. If you've never heard of them and aren't a collector but you're in the French Quarter this is an absolutely lovely little store to visit. I have a strong feeling you'll find it fun to admire the craftsmanship of the collection on sale here. Now I feel like I'll always have my eye out for these in certain places, I'll strike gold if I can find someone who like me had no idea what they were.

STALE EXPENSIVE CHOCOLATES: triple chocolate truffle, dark chocolate pecan bark: $8.75.

STALE, OVERPRICED CHOCOLATES This small shop across from the Supreme Court has a large truffle case near the window. The abundant stock of confections has beckoned me for years but I never stopped in until yesterday. Well obviously others haven't bought them either - they were STALE. Like sitting in the abandoned vending machine since Katrina stale. The only flavor I got was of dust. Worse, prices aren't advertised and I was charged $8.80 for two small pieces. See pic. AVOID THE CHOCOLATES!

Super cute store. Full of interesting items. I found one of the smallest owls for my collection. (Overpriced if you would ask me) $25.00 while a larger one was only $18.00) The women who worked there was kind and shared information on the products. There was also a casino machine located in the back of the store. The machine accepted dimes. Good Luck!

This last visit, it just happened to be my Birthday & soon as we walked in, Hubby zeroed in on a sparkly blue & green (my favorite colors) tiny French clutch in the shape of a FISH! Now my hubby knows I LOVE everything Aquatic !!! He went straight to the little fish in the glass case, the sales lady from the shop was in hot pursuit, didn't waste any time getting it out for him! :)) The saleslady was very sweet & told us she just got them in. There were some very pretty ones. A silver bunny, a red/black lady bug etc., my zodiac sign is Pisces so it was undeniably a perfect match for moi :)) Elegant, French cocktail clutch, hand made. Exquisite!!! Like everything in this store!!! Beautiful chandeliers, 18th century wardrobes, beautiful French China etc., A antique lovers dream shop. Hubby knows what I like! Score indeed! Him of course & the little fishy :)) I didn't catch the sales lady's name but I want to say thank you for all the information on the wardrobe I am interested in... BTW, You can purchase anything in this store & have it shipped Crate worldwide. "Thank you again for your wonderful "assist" in my lovely Birthday Gift. I absolutely adore it. It's so perfect, completely fabulous." I know I will keep it & enjoy it for many years to come as it is heirloom quality. See you again soon. XOXO Highly recommend.

But this time around, it was just a bunch of poorly curated junk. The way things were displayed was poor, just unorganized, requiring you to dig around. It feels overwhelming going in here. Previously, I felt like I was on a treasure hunt, but this time around, I was feeling anxiety going through all the stuff. They do have old typewriters and old phones though, at decent price (around $115-175 for typewriters, and $25 for the old phones). I thought those were the coolest items. But honestly, they didn't even have the cute charm I was hoping for. Some of the typewriters did have handles, which was great if you wanted to carry it on your flight back home. But, you couldn't take the lid off...just a bummer. Will forever continue to search for the vintage typewriter and phone.

The few that were in there were pretty expensive. But because I'm good at digging around, I did manage to find two matching pieces in a couple of stacks on the floor that were inexpensive. Such a small win in such a big store though. It's still a cool place to hang around in for a couple hours.
