The Bower is a great second hand store that promotes sustainable living. It collects, repairs and sells preloved household goods. You can find anything here from rare and collectable goods including vintage Coca-Cola fridges and foosball tables, to other items such as beautiful wooden crates, vintage bikes, antique cupboards and dressers. There is also a cheap range starting from as little as 20c! Try the bone china cups and sauces (20c each) and the $1 vintage chair I bought one time. So while some of the rare items may be a little pricey, there is definitely a bargain to be had here if you look in the right place.
The Bower also has an electrical and timber workshop onsite for any repairs you might need done (performed by staff). They have a brilliantly thoughtful referral service, which means if you have something you want to throw out and they can't take it directly, they will be able to refer you to one of 1000 organisations that will. This reduces the amount of stuff ending up in landfill.
The Bower is definitely a store that really cares about the principles they are trying to sell and it is one I am happy to get behind and support. You should too. read more
