As this wasn't the day for a drink in the sun, we walked inside to discover a wonderful seating areas upstairs. To our surprise the drink prices weren't much different from anywhere else in town, so we made ourselves at home in two chairs by a window in the library and ordered some drinks along with the Mackerel Paté with bread. The food and drinks were excellent. The staff were hospitable and helpful. And it was safe to assume we lounging in one of the best possible places on a rainy day in York. The forecast the next day was warm and sunny, so we couldn't resist coming back. After a brief wait, some tables opened up outside and we new that we were now enjoying the sun and drinks in one of the best possible places on a sunny day in York. I almost want to move to York just so I can come here every week.

I was eyeing up the burger menu for a good hour before deciding I'd just grab something back home - damn I wish I'd had that burger though as I can imagine it would have been good! Very friendly staff, a great old converted building, great selection of craft beers - yep - ticked all the boxes for me! By the time our food came out, the waitstaff was busy so I didn't have a ready opportunity to ask for salt. And should I have to ask? This place has a charming interior but i'd suggest drinks here, not dinner.
