Always a nice experience! Food great and service very precise! I always enjoy a chocolate martini for dessert. My friend tried their French Kiss Martini and it maybe my new favorite! You must try the spinach artichoke dip with deep fried pita chips! Fabulous!!!

After we spent the day biking and roaming around the town of Walker, we decided to grab a bite to eat. A quick search on Yelp, and we settled on The Boulders. We did not have a reservation, nor were we quite dressed for the place (which raised quite a few eyebrows, but who cares!) Place was very busy and was packed wall to wall. Hostess, while being snotty and rolling her eyes, was able to accommodate us even without a reservation. Wait staff was super friendly and had good recommendations from the beer list. I steered clear of the martinis as we had a 2 hour drive home. Welp, maybe next time..:( Menu was very diverse and not what we expected for middle of nowhere, Minnesota. I opted for the Penne Jambalaya and the missus chose the Paella. We each ordered the french onion soup as our side. Dinner rolls arrived very quickly and were obviously very fresh. Hard on the outside but very soft and fresh on the inside. French onion soup was very good. The paella was cooked in a tajine and was a lot of food. Very tasty. The Penne jambalaya was about par for the course. Plenty of leftovers between both dishes. The only downside was the utilization of the space here. It got very noisy at times and all we could hear was every word from other tables. Yeah, no one wants to hear about your Ancestry.com DNA results old guy looking for his long-lost family members! We'll return - of course we'll make reservations and maybe switch biking/outside clothes for something a little nicer. Maybe on the latter part. Just maybe.

He's one of the best servers I've had in my dining experience, so ask for him when you go. I had the walleye tacos and my husband had the bison burger. We also got a Caesar salad and highly recommend any fries they offer- sweet potato and truffle fries were incredible- hot and crisp, just the right amount of seasoning. The kids both had cheeseburgers and everything was cooked perfect, fresh and seasoned well. (Hence we came back a second time.)

The first visit on this trip we ate outside on the deck. Great weather, great view. We ordered walleye fingers for the table, they were delicious. We also ordered the hummus plate and stuffed dill pickles. The hummus platter was great, especially if you're looking to eat something light to eat. The stuffed dill pickles were good, but not what we expected. On another day we ordered the caprese bites. They were awful. Frozen battered cheese warmed up and placed on top of a thin tomato slice and basil leaf. For entrees both days we ordered a walleye sandwich - good, walleye tacos - good, Black & bleu burger - good, Thai chillie chicken salad was ok. The service could be better. Both days our servers were frazzled, and we had to hear how overwhelmed they were. When asked a simple question earlier about seating, the restaurant manager answered very snappy. The view is great, and the food is ok.

Everything about our meal was perfect!…read more Background: we've been to almost every restaurant within 30 miles of Crosslake, most many times. We somehow missed this place. We would rank this meal as one of our best in the area. I had the crab cake sandwich, upgraded to include the dinner salad. The sandwich is one of the best things I've ever eaten. And, am pretty sure the amazing blu cheese dressing was house made. I tasted my husband's food, and can confirm... his cheeseburger upgraded to have the Cesar salad and the shrimp bisque was FANTASTIC!!! Will definitely be back!

So many things to tell you(long post), I was searching the area near our summer rental for a good…read morespot for my birthday dinner. As I read the menu for this restaurant, I was getting that excited feeling that I stumbled upon a place where they really know good food. The Italian nachos looked promising as well as the reuben egg rolls. Sandwiches, wraps, burgers, oooh! What's this is see? Omaha Hereford ribeye? IMHO black angus is highly overrated. I love a good heffer! So we seat ourselves, the place is popping busy, they're having an all you can eat crab leg special this Friday night. We start ordering off the menu. Beverages to start, nothing fancy, just a good local craft beer and a summer mocktail. Appetizers, my birthday, I get to choose. I decided on the reuben egg rolls. For the main course, my bride orders the sirloin and I order the ribeye, we both get salad. The egg rolls arrive first, looking very homemade. OMFG, they are soooo good. Watch out for the juicy squirt (fresh sauerkraut). Ok, house salad - you'd think nothing special needs to be said about a house salad, we'll let me tell you, house made croutons, house made dressings. It's these small little touches that make a big difference. The steaks were fantastic, the sides perfectly done. The service- on point. The only drawback was the little black flies bugging my legs throughout our visit. But hey, it's northern Minnesota, it comes with the territory and can be easily fixed with a couple of Vector or Lavex bug catchers. Overall, I shall finish pontificating. My suffencies have been sorrencified!

What's different being seated was they use to have bottled hot sauces on the table which are no longer there, they don't even have them to ask for, but they do have a hotter salsa for a $2 charge. Yes it was tasty and yes it was hot but not sure I will pay $2 for it again I will just bring my bottle of hot sauce I usually carry in the car and put it in their regular salsa. Only needs more heat for us flavor was good it has cilantro but doesn't overwhelm it. The complimentary chips were warm and really thin, wonderful. We ordered enchilada platters, I ordered three cheese and was so pleasantly surprised I didn't have to cut red sauce and add queso it was already on it.. plus.. plus.. I substituted the beans for another rice and they did... the cheese enchiladas were so good and filled with a cheese blend so flavorful, the rice was presented so pretty on the plate not in the usual pile, and so very, very good, finally I can say that the rice would be like their grandma would prepare at home with love. Best plates of Mexican food we have had anywhere even from down south with the exception of Pedro's in Duluth. Hubby ordered all beef enchiladas his had queso on top as well, he said it was wonderful full of ground beef seasoned perfectly with onions and bell peppers, he had beans and rice, beans were very good, I wish I would have gotten them now too, they were not just watery goop on the plate they where actual refried chunky beans with flavor. Very friendly waiter quick to be seated, received our drinks took orders and within 15 minutes had our food, we even got drink refills without asking. I hope this is an example of how it is every day because we are excited to go back.
