We were going to invite some others to come with us- but, ah yes well, I believe I am not their cup of tea shall we say? I was so glad they elected NOT TO HANG WITH US!!! Why??? BECAUSE I WOULD NOT HAVE TO SHARE THE GOOD EATS WITH THEM!!!! Hahah!!! Oh, under 21 welcome just not at bartop and not after 9pm. Bring the whole fam damily!! The waitri- nice!!!! She I BELIEVE is in charge- I could be mistaken- idk. So polite! She actually spoke with my kids, AND WAS DO RESPECTFUL!! They are starting at the college this fall. And we're very interested in working there! The drinks- looked very interesting but we were there for THE FOOD! Oh my. Such delicious food. Spaetzel. I suppose I would say it wasn't quite the genuine noods I am used to from my German grandma I was used to. But, I am cognizant of the regional differences one may experience- mine came from The Port of Odessa area up river a bit. They were peasants who settled back when Tzarina invited them to settle the area tax free. Yes, we've always been POOR!!! But we EAT! And we eat well! We also had the rustic chix sando sliders. They were quite healthy- and were a bit dry- I prefer a bit more fat- I have some trouble with that but they were so good!!! And the potato fritters- HEAVEN!!! We loves our taters! So so good. I'm doing this from memory- sorry I don't have great descriptors and the names!!! Definitely get s

The upstairs has the kitchen and dining area. But there's also the downstairs, basement dining and bar which practically lends to a speakeasy vibe. Each time I've visited I've opted for the bar, as I'm usually dining solo. The menu is small, but the food is done so well. I also look at the specials. One time they offered an Ivory King Salmon, I've never heard of it before and looked it up. Apparently it's very rare and makes up on 5% of King Salmon species. Super glad I ordered it, it's buttery, mild flavor reminded me of black cod. But their other menu items are nothing to ignore. I've had the roasted marinated lamb, and they also offer $15 dollar pasta Wednesdays. Recently I had the Linguine with meatballs, it tasted homemade - like the Nonna's were in the kitchen! IF I have space for dessert, I usually opt for the gallette or cheesecake, both are worthy options to end a satisfying meal. My only complaint is that Saute' on 6th is only open from Wed - Sat, so I have to plan my visits...

For dinner I decided on some smaller plates, I ordered the shrimp crostini which was very enjoyable and just the right amount. Additionally I ordered the tomato bisque, I really enjoyed the presentation since the server came out with a small carafe of the soup and poured it into the bowl at the table, which was fun and delicious! For dessert I tried the espresso crème brûlée which was good, the top had the right sugar crack and snap, which was yummy! Will definitely be back, the service and ambiance was really enjoyable as well.

My daughter found the Lookout Restaurant nearby. We had no idea it was on campus until we arrived at the top of the hill on the golf course. What a spectacular view. Just gorgeous and the fall colors were amazing. We could see Kibbie Dome below and the water tower. It almost didn't matter what the food was like inside... What a pleasant surprise when we walked in, and there was plenty of seating both indoors and out. It definitely felt a little more fancy than all the other university dining options. Service was attentive. Our server brought us menus and we noticed a very limited amount of options but good options. it was Saturday around 1 PM and there was only one other party sitting and having brunch at that time. I ordered the burger, one daughter ordered the chicken and waffles, and the other daughter asked for a custom breakfast sandwich made with items that were already on the menu. The server was in agreement that they could accommodate that request. Food arrived quickly. It was fresh and delicious. My burger was juicy and flavorful with a nice side of ketchup. My daughters both enjoyed their meals. We paid the bill with a credit card and were told that no gratuity could be charged. Of course I wanted to compensate the weight staff for service. Fortunately, I had cash to leave a nice tip. Afterwards, we took the opportunity to take pictures with the beautiful backdrop of the golf course and university below . What a nice experience to top off a very nice visit to the university of Idaho. Highly recommend this restaurant and bring cash for tips.

I had the prickly pear smash mocktail to drink. I thought the pretzel knots were pretty disappointing. Despite the name, it was a single large pretzel with beer cheese and BBQ sauce for dipping on the side. The pretzel tasted really bland, definitely did not seem fresh, and both the flavor and texture weren't great. The beer cheese was good, but didn't make the dish better than okay. I've had really good pretzels with beer cheese at Zeppoz in Pullman and this is not that. The korean chicken sandwich was fine. It was covered in their korean BBQ sauce which is kind of a unique taste but kind of reminds me of commercial americanized chinese food. The cole slaw on it is nice. I think I liked the pulled pork sandwich better. The rustic apple tart was good, nothing amazing but it's apple tart with vanilla ice cream. The prickly pear smash mocktail was good, and I think it's one of the few uniquely good items at this restaurant that you can't get anywhere else. If I go again, there are a few other things I'd like to try, like the salmon dip. Based on what I've seen of the quality of the food already though, I don't expect anything to be amazing. In conclusion, this is probably a good place to go if you're looking for drinks, a place with a nice view, and/or a spot to grab a meal on campus and you don't mind the price. If you're looking for real fine dining however, I recommend you skip this place and try somewhere else.
