REAL Barbeque!…read more Gainesville, Georgia. 11 am. I was headed for Florida. Driving the back roads to avoid the ATL traffic. Interstate ain't for me! Denied breakfast, I heard those familiar low growls from my midsection. I was hungry. But I was looking for something special. For lunch. NO fast food. NEVER! NO chain restaurants. NOT this time, bud. I wasn't quite sure what I was in the mood for, but I KNEW I'd KNOW it when I SAW it... It was then I seemed to sense the scentual aroma of slow cooked meat over a real pit. Barbeque! YES! THAT'S what I was in the mood for! At that moment, I was tempted to pull over and do my usual online search. But it was still a little too early for lunch, so I ambled on. Mile after mile after mile. Turns out, I believe I was being led by the nose to Covington. I just felt it. Movie town, here I come. Once in town, that is when I hit the web. I sniffed out a place called Bradley's Real Pit Barbeque. Hmmmm. Let's do it! EXACTLY EVERYTHING I EVER wanted in the way of Barbeque!!! I ordered the Half Rack of Ribs, with fries and beans. What I got was a STACK of RIBS...with those delectable fries and beans. Ribs. The HOLY Grail of the grill. The Fall off the Bone smoky goodness carried me to lip smacking, finger lickin, OHHHHHH YEAH ville! Man! Those ribs! (I AM a rib aficionado. A connoisseur of pit cooking). THESE were no fib ribs. FINER than fine with a huge touch of yum. OHHHHH Yeah. I now LOVE Bradley's. Looking for any excuse to drive north, to Movie town and sit down. Like the Terminator said, "I'll be back!"

I really don't like to give bad reviews...AT ALL, but I just have to give my 2 cents…read more My husband and I went here, Sunday, 5-31 and I will say we were pleasantly surprised with the ambiance and decor! Very nice inside! Unfortunately, that's where the "good" ends! The young lady at the front taking the orders, needs A LOT more training, seemed like it was her first day, but I doubt it. She's too timid and needs to learn to be more assertive and louder. I could hardly hear her. She didn't know enough about the menu items, and just really didn't seem like she knew what she was doing. Someone should have been up there with her if it indeed was her first day. I also asked for a receipt, she said it would be texted to me.... nope, never received it! My husband ordered the oxtail plate w/ rice, collard greens and cornbread. Now this is where tastebuds come into play. He LOVED it..said it tasted fresh. I, on the other hand wasn't impressed! Especially for the price we paid...close to $40, for the amount of food we DIDN'T get! For that price it shoud've been a few more oxtails on that plate! The only other good thing was their health score which was 100!! Yaay for that! Would I go back? Maybe, just to experience the ambiance and to sit down and eat.

I tried so hard to love this place. You really have no idea. In short, mostly mediocre food…read morecombined with one very shiesty action ruined the experience. I knew I had to stop at Cowboy's BBQ after I passed it a few times while looking at houses in Covington. Some of the best food that you'll find anywhere is often attached to a gas station. The good reviews and smells made me certain this was going to be great. At first glance, prices are amazing [more on this later...]. I ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, ribs, and smoked chicken. I chose fries and mac n cheese for my sides. The mac n cheese carried an upcharge, but this is reasonably common for places to do. I agree with the one diner who said the brisket was amazing. I really enjoyed the brisket. The fries were also fine thanks how are you? Wish I had more good to say about this place. The ribs were very old and mediocre at best. I understand that food can't be cooked to order at a barbecue place, but even barbecue has a shelf life. The ribs that I was served should've long been chopped into a stew special or something along those lines. The smoked chicken was a disgusting insult. At first, I thought I was mistakenly served an additional side instead of smoked chicken. Unfortunately, their service style is off the bone and finely diced. Storing barbecue meats off the bone is a delicate process. You have to take extra care to ensure that it doesn't dry up in the hot box. Unfortunately, no care was taken, so the chicken was dry and tasteless. The mac n cheese was very low quality. I'll happily pay an upcharge for the good stuff that's baked. I'll grudgingly eat Kraft mac n cheese. I will not pay an upcharge for Kraft mac n cheese. Honestly, all of this would've made the experience probably worth 2 or even 3 stars, but they have an incredibly dishonest, unadvertised upcharge for credit cards. The surcharge is definitely higher than their cost to accept credit cards. Some businesses eat the cost of accepting credit cards. Other businesses pass this cost to the customer. Cowboy BBQ uses this as an opportunity to improve their margins by cheating their customers.

The inside looks different so I'm pretty sure it's not the same owner. The young lady at the register talked on her phone the entire time, the entire 30-35 mins, she wasn't the most pleasant for the front end. Food: Definitely not the same company. My jumbo shrimp were itty bitty. My husband's catfish looks like it was cut in half. Our food was quoted 10-15 mins. We waited 30-35 mins with not many orders up to wait and no one in the restaurant waiting. We will not be back. Sad part is this place is only 5 mins from my home.

Decent selection of food, but most of it at room temperature or close. I didn't dare eat the chicken when it was clear that it had been sitting there for a while at room temperature, will be shocked if I'm not sick tomorrow. Same with the cobbler. I tried the rolls and garlic bread - both so hard as to be completely unpalatable. Salad bar was probably the best part, but everything there was very low quality as well. Beyond that, the food is all very underseasoned and bland. And how do you make cheesecake bland? I mean, how is that possible? All the server had to do was give my a seat, some water and clean utensils, and I did get a seat - but the knife had a big blob of something green stuck to it. They brought me a new glass of water when the first when dry, but it had a funny/bitter flavor that wasn't there in the first one. Considering the fact that the knife wasn't clean, I would assume the same went for the glasses. Worst of all, I left a tip at the table (not required for a buffet, and certainly not earned as noted above); but when I declined to tip at checkout, they had the nerve to ask if I had tipped at the table - as if tipping was somehow required. And then argued with me when I made it clear that asking was inappropriate. Incredibly rude and a terrible way to treat customers. I should have made more of a scene, but I calmly made my point clear, no need for more drama. Will not be going back, and will suggest nobody else does either - if you want a reasonable buffet experience anyway. Edited to add: After writing this review, I decided to research to see if I was the only one that had a bad experience, and found a LOT. On Yelp, they have more one star reviews that two, three or four stars - making me think that many of the 5 star reviews are not legit. Just go to Yelp, and sort by newest first, to see that 3 of the last 5 reviews were one star - 4 of 6 if you include mine. Also, according to the AJC, this restaurant has had multiple failed health inspections in just the last five years: November 2025: Scored 59/U (Unsatisfactory). Violations included food not held at proper temperatures and cross-contamination issues. December 2021: Scored 52/U (Unsatisfactory). The restaurant failed its routine inspection after staff were observed failing to wash hands, alongside improper food storage and temperature violations. May 2021: Scored 37/U (Unsatisfactory) 37? 37?? That's not just a fail, that's a not even trying.
