They definitely seem to lean more towards history/war/military and older books. If you are a fan of those types of books you could find a lot of hidden gems I am sure. There is a little bit of a musty smell due to a combination of the old books and lack of airflow in the older building. Also beware space is limited so be ready for for changing directions or getting out of the way if other patrons are nearby. Shelves upon shelves of books with some taped to papers letting you know the section you are in. While it does have some order in this sense at the same time it's chaotic mainly due to crammed space. Can't really speak to value all that much as I did not see the prices for many books and honestly I would not have a good sense of the actual value of the books either. As I said a must visit for book lovers in or visiting Portland to lose yourself while browsing. You can tell a lot of time and effort went into building this collection of books! The one star deduction is solely due to the largest portions of their books are just genres I generally don't have any interest in. I do appreciate it for what it is though and would recommend it.

Nor did I realize the closing was due to prepping for an event. Changing to five stars because the place really was amazing!!!! The CUTEST spicy bookshop EVER. But also....I've never actually come across one of these before so there's that! So many books of all different.....interests. Which I loved! They had a collection of non smut books as well. Not sure about how the pricing was because I was too enamored with the shop in itself I didn't even pay attention to prices. I guess they do book signings there (Tessa Bailey is one!) which is really cool. The only drawback was the employee working there. She was not helpful and seemed very annoyed we were in there. I did not realize that we walked in probably 15 or so minutes before closing (5p on a Saturday) but while I was looking around and outwardly saying "this is the best place ever" she was less than inviting which was disappointing. She flipped the closed sign when we were in there and I apologized, saying we didn't realize they were nearly closing and she just huffed and replies with "if you want a book I can cash you out now". Despite the big selection it does not feel over crammed like some vintage/antique spots do. So even if they are busy plenty of room to move around. They have it set up almost like little different rooms with different tables, couches, and/or other furniture with other art or pieces on display too. It's a really nice way of displaying their inventory with enough space for it to all be admired. While we were planning to browse and not looking to buy anything especially larger items. Due to this we did not check prices of the furniture or anything larger. They do have smaller items you can see from some of my pictures.
