Moving my account to Baker and Company may count as the best business decision I've made this year. Baker & Company get two things right all the time: customer service and knowing how to make the IRS work for their clients. Twice in the last six months our company has received notices from the IRS stating we owed them, and twice this year our company has received checks from the IRS. I just sent it all over to Baker & Co. and they worked their magic. If finances get tough at the end of the month, the office joke has been that we just need the IRS to send us another notice. Baker's accountants and staff really know their stuff, are proactive in working with clients and fun to work with (yes I said fun). You get the results and customer care you'd find at a boutique firm without the price tag. Unhappy with your current accounting firm? Do yourself a favor and get yourself (and your business) to Baker & Company. You and yours will be well cared for there.

Before that, a friend and I used them to help organize finances for a business we were working on. Since moving away from Dallas last summer, Baker & Company still allows me to accomplish everything in a super-streamlined fashion via mail. The entire staff is extremely personable and knowledgeable. The offices are really nice and comfy (warehouse-esque with a pool table and lots of natural light). As long as I'm giving money to the government, these guys are going to help me do it.

David Schnaufer has been my accountant for the last 9 years. He is so much better than my previous…read moreaccountant that I have sent him countless referrals. What I like the most about working with David is his availability. If I have questions, he's only a phone call away. And he always returns my calls promptly if he's not available. He also saved me SO MUCH MONEY in taxes. I am self employed and if it wasn't for David I would be over-paying by 3,000-9,000 per year. So that's how much he is saving me, many years much more. I recommend this firm so much that I had David as a special guest at our company event just last quarter. David knows what small businesses need, as well as non-profits (we have one he helps us with) and also big businesses such as our real estate business. David is da man!

David said he thought he could start on them mid way through the following week and it wouldn't take long. I forgot to ask his fee and he didn't mention it either. I followed up 2.5 weeks later with a phone call after receiving no courtesy call of why it was taking so long for such a simple return. No return call for 2 business days. I emailed on the 3rd business day June 29th at 7am. He finally replied June 30 "missed your call I was out of the office". Not sure what his secretary does. June 30th he sent another email with total to be refunded asking for my signature to get direct deposit - still no mention of his fee. I emailed back asking for his fee and some other questions. He answered the other questions but not the fee / how much I owed him question. He gave the example of how he got the refund and I realized he did nothing special, apparently all the complexities weren't relevant due to how much I made that year. (not much LOL) He said the documents weren't ready to be sent to me as he had not "put them together" yet. I waited another week thinking about what to do. July 8th I called saying I was coming to pick up my documents. (I was giving up ready to do them myself.) He didn't understand and said again, "I haven't put them together yet". I explained, "no, I want my original documents back only". I came home and did my own taxes, simple 1040 on FreeTaxUSA.com in about 30 minutes. No fee to worry about being deducted from my return.
