I hired Mary in early January to manage my business's financial records, expecting professional and…read moreaccurate bookkeeping. Unfortunately, she did not batch payments to each invoice as required. Instead, she made journal entries because she said "that is how we clear the deposits we cannot match to the bank statement". Of course they can be matched. That is not the correct method for keeping books for a small business. This approach may have saved her a lot of time, but it has caused significant issues for us. We had to undo all the deposits for the last 3 months, redo them, and match payments properly to ensure the records are accurate. This may be something that large corporations do but a small business must have accurate customer records. My last 2 bookkeepers (over a 25-year period) matched each payment with each individual invoice, correctly. I didn't want to leave this review, but Mary has refused to reimburse me for what I paid her for March books even though I am having to undue and redo all the deposits since the beginning of January when she began keeping my books. I have worked an extra 15-20 hours a week for a month to fix the books from Jan to now. I never would have hired Mary had I known she would think this was an okay practice. BEWARE!!! This experience has been frustrating and time-consuming. Proper bookkeeping is essential for maintaining accurate financial records, and shortcuts like these can lead to more work and potential errors down the line. I would not recommend this bookkeeper for anyone looking for thorough and precise bookkeeping services. I am tired and can never get this time back with my family. .

If you are looking for a partner to help with your accounting needs, this is not the place. When reached out to J Chester & Associates I explained to the firm manager, David Perez, exactly what I was looking for in an accountant. He was happy to take my money, have me fill out a form, then pass me along to others within the firm. I repeatedly requested a phone call with an accountant and was ignored completely. Next thing I know my taxes were filed, without ever speaking to me directly about any deductions I may be entitled to, my small business or any other personal information that may be pertinent. Don't believe the positive reviews about this firm, I sure wish I hadn't.

Assumed it was me not asking the right questions and gave them a second chance this year. I was a 1099 Independent Contractor with a Small business LLC that has been open for 3 months. Day of the appointment, again, there for 30 min, John said I would owe 11K in taxes and recommend an LLC to not have to pay those taxes, I was confused because I indeed already had an LLC , and clearly someone missed all my paperwork I input on their organizer. John took a look at my LLC and said "Nevermind, I'm gonna have to redo all this" I left Extremely confused. I called twice and all they could say was " We will let you know if we need anything from you" WHAT!?! WEEKS LATER I get an email stating taxes are done. I was charged 600 for personal, again, charged for an hour that I was not there for, then, 1,300 for business taxes, AND 800 for someone to go through my quickbooks. I had requested 1 HOUR of Quickbooks Organizing. No acknowledgment to the mess up and almost putting me 11K in Debt! No Communication to what is going on. Duke is charismatic but runs client credit cards without written estimates, contracts, or agreements for frivolous amounts ($50k each) that exceed anything a Big Four accounting firm would charge. Essentially charging you for services you don't need, want, or use--IN ADVANCE. He will do this privately without the usual procedures involving his client concierge or onboarding agents like Austin or Taylor.
