Granted you probably wouldn't think to visit an Indian Restaurant for breakfast yet the Fire Toast Bacon Naan and Bombay Porridge at the Bombay Cafe is enough to make most question their Bran Flakes.
First opened in 1953 and momentarily closed in the 1980's. The Bombay Cafe has since been (re-)opened by the descended family of the owner of Wales' first Indian restaurant. Located just a short walk from Mermaid Quay, The Bombay Cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - they also offer a rather unique Tiffin takeaway. (Served in a traditional Indian style Tupperware).
On my first and last visit I opted to try something new and ordered the Shahi Thali, a mild Shahi chicken korma in a slow braised onion sauce, complemented with a (slightly random) egg.
Now if like me you are fussy when it comes to chicken bones this probably wouldn't be the best dish to order.
*Sadly the fact it's served on the bone isn't mentioned on the menu.
I felt as though I spent the majority of my meal dissecting said chicken by which point the rest of my food had gone cold *sad music goes here*
Would give The Bombay Cafe a second chance - probably for breakfast over dinner! read more
