Lee Garden is a popular Chinese and Thai Food Restaurant that offers a really impressive range of…read morefood including; Peking, Cantonese, Szechuan Chinese food as well as Thai and Malaysian cuisine. Whilst it's pleasant enough to eat in, I have mainly patronised them by using the take out menu, especially when trying to accommodate the tastes a large group of people. They have the most extensive menu for far Eastern food that I'm aware of in Cardiff, and so it's a no brainer who I recommend when we are trying to order for five or more people... it cuts down on the quibbling! The fact that they are open seven days a week also makes them pretty dependable. Being popular, they get pretty busy at the weekends and so delivery times can be erratic. They give a 15% reduction in price for collections, and they tend to process your order a lot quicker if you collect in person. I advise everyone to pick up their food if possible, especially if it's a large order. I've only eaten in once and enjoyed the experience. We needed a table for two at 8.30 on a Saturday night, and luckily didn't have to wait too long, despite not making a reservation. We wouldn't have been so lucky if there had been more of us. It's probably best to book on any night of the week, and is definitely advisable at the weekend. There's two numbers to call: 02920 462388 02920 486288 Unfortunately, there's no website, which, considering the extent of their menu, would be really useful. They have a well printed, four leaf take away menu that you can call in and collect when you are passing.

If you're a Chinese place on the same road as The Swallow, your business model has to revolve…read morearound one of two things if you're going to survive: being so mind-blowingly exceptional at what you do that you actually manage to surpass The Swallow, or offering customers something that The Swallow doesn't. Lee Garden opts for the latter choice, providing a menu that offers an extensive range of dishes that veer away from the standard Chinese fare of noodles + rice + lemon chicken. Instead, they have a menu that, besides the standards, also offers a selection of less anglicised Oriental dishes. If you are looking for a standard Chinese, and know exactly what you want, go for The Swallow. The food's better there. If you're a little more daring and want to take your tastebuds on a test drive of some new flavours, try the Lee Garden. Even if you don't enjoy the food, you can at least say you've tried it.

The crispy beef was fab, the prawns with salt and pepper, the beef and black bean sauce, the Singapore rice noodles and all the rest were delicious and couldn't have wished for anything more. I don't want to be so gushing in praise but 100% would go back again. The whole family were happy with the meal. Can't ask for much more than that!

Good & Tasty This is…read moremy local Chinese/Thai/Malaysian takeaway and was recommended to me before we had chance to try it. The menu has all the usual Chinese options...chow mein/chop suey/sweet and sour chicken etc which are standard for any "Chinese" takeaway. What make Good Taste special!? They offer Thai and Malaysian cuisine. I am huge fan of Thai but I've not really sampled much Malaysian food (not that I know of). Anyway Good Taste offer a few set menu meal deals..We opted for the Malaysian set menu for 2 costing £20. The deal consisted of 2 Pork Satay Skewers, Pong Tay Ayam (a chunky chicken like stew), Kari Beef (Creamy Beef Curry), Mee Goreng (spicy noodles with tonnes of veggies) and a large portion of egg fried rice. We opted to collect the food as we only live half a mile away and we wanted the food to be really hot but they do offer a free delivery within a 2 miles radius. The food was all freshly cooked and could have easily fed 3 adults. The staff are very friendly and they kept my order in a warm box until I arrived. In addition to this it has a 5 for food hygiene which can be a rarity for a takeaway of this kind. Something maybe to improve my experience...They could include dish descriptions to the menu. I had to google the dishes in my meal deal. If you live in this area (St Annes/Brislington/St Georges) I'd give it a try!

The interior, with long rows…read moreof wooden benches, evokes memories of school dinners, though the food is slightly more tempting than spam fritters and lumpy mash! The giants bowls of prawn crackers are good to munch on while you try and get your head around the menu, which works like this. It's split into five sub-menus (Japanese, Malaysian, Thai, Chinese and Specialist) with all main courses costing just £7.50. It's probably best to share three mains between two, and I would thoroughly recommend the Thai green curry and the kebab (which is certainly unlike any doner I've ever tasted!), though the plum sauce on the crispy duck is a little overpowering. Everything about this place screams simplicity, but at around £15 a head it certainly offers value (not to mention authenticity) for money.

I ordered my dr pepper and then decided i wanted everything off the menu. That was not possible so I settled on the crispy duck with pancakes. They really cater for vegan/vegetarians there, so with most dishes the meat part can be substituted with tofu. My boyfriend ordered the Kajang Chicken Satay, but with tofu, and it was unlike any satay dish I'd ever tried. It was just so fresh and delicious. My crispy duck was also equally amazing! All the main dishes are £7.50 and we ordered some extra noodles to share and we got a huge portion of the most tasty fried noodles with beansprouts for £2.50. The staff were extremely helpful and smiley and it's nice and spacious in there. You can also see into the kitchen which I always think is a good thing! I can't wait to return and start making my way through their Japanese dishes and also take home some goodies from the supermarket.

They do a deal at lunchtime where they cook up a few dishes and you can have whichever of them for £2 and add rice or noodles for £2. I had a chicken masaman curry and rice the other day for £4! You can barely get a McDonalds for £4! What's on offer varies for the lunch deal but they do tend to stick to popular dishes. They do proper yummy thai prawn crackers too (the orange ones that are slightly spicy) with sweet chilli sauce and play Thai music and the staff are lovely. If it was 30 degrees outside you'd feel like you were in Thailand! Decor is basic, long benches for seating and toilets aren't the best! They've got some pictures of the food on the wall, along with the specials boards and menu. I love it when there's pics of the food because I like to try new things and this helps with what to expect. There's also lots of interesting traditional Thai decor; old photos in frames and some offerings for buddha and pictures of the king. Don't go here for a night out kind of meal because it's quite quick to arrive and there is only a small bar, but definitely go if you want a fresh and delicious, cheap meal. It's the best in town for thai in my opinion.

Super casual and super tasty, just how Thai food should be…read more Thai Pan has been renamed 'Street Food'. I think this was to reflect their new day/lunch menu that, during the summer, they sell through their open windows. I've eaten here so many times that I now have 2 dishes that I rarely stray from. The Gosereng Malaysian Noodles and Chicken in Chilli Oil with Pineapple Rice. Both are absolutely delicious! The noodles are spicy with lots of veg and flavour. The chicken in chilli oil is saucier than you would imagine, it's not just flooded in oil. The pineapple rice is so good, not overly sweet and with a nice flavour of its own. Think wagamamas style noodles benches, chilli pots on the table and an all Thai cast.
