I will start with saying I wish I had found Sarah sooner, but better late than never. I am a professional aerialist/dancer/acrobat, who also teaches Pilates. 1 inch! I am an entire inch taller than when I first started working with Sarah. I came in to correct my rounded shoulders and poor posture after pregnancy. What I found was much more. Sarah is an absolute authority on fascia and the human body. After the first session, I remember looking in the mirror in complete shock at how drastically improved my shoulders were. My experience has been wonderful, magical, transformational. What a beautiful person Sarah is, inside and out! My only regret is we should have taken before and after photos because the change is REAL. My friends and coworkers have noticed and commented that they can see a real difference and want to know what I've been doing. I'm also planning on bringing my mom over to her, who has lost some mobility in her hands. My goals were to lose weight and get a better posture. I had no idea my entire body would be reshaped in such a short time period! First, my buffalo hump (aka dowager's hump or tech neck) is straightened out. Wow. I had no idea this could be straightened out without surgery so that was a very nice surprise. Secondly, I've never had better posture! I hold myself differently, and it would not have been possible without some of the work Sarah had to do to release my fascia. There was a lottttt of work involved with releasing and aligning. I recently had spinal surgery and my doctor said I could do anything. So I decided to try to find someone who could help make sure I'd never again require spinal surgery. I didn't really think a Pilates instructor could align my body since I'd previously done private Pilates classes with two other instructors who really were very good. Hoping I might find someone who could fix my body alignment - who wasn't a chiropractor - I read the reviews for every pilates studio in and around Studio City. But what caught my eye was that many people who'd gone to The Body Lab LA described Sarah as having helped them with posture, aches and pains and body movement. That was exactly what I needed, so I scheduled an appointment, hopeful but not convinced. I soon found that everything the reviews said about Sarah being able to transform posture, eliminate pain, and teach about body movement was absolutely true. But that wasn't all. I've had chronic pain since i was 21 years old (i'm now 31). Every injury would turn into a whole body part that would never heal. Sara's hands are magic and her knowledge of the body and how it works is beyond amazing. I was having excruciating back pain from a bulging torn disc to the point that I could barely walk. Doctors just kept giving me pain meds and muscle relaxants but that did not heal my body it just covered up the pain for a few hours. I am a trainer myself, Pilates and Gyrotonic as well as a dancer and acro yogi. Sarah was instrumental in getting me to a place where I could move again. My posture was completely compromised and everything was locked up as a result of some physical trauma that also turned in to psychological trauma and fed off each other. Sarah is highly intuitive when it comes to the body, has an incredible eye to see right away where the issues are and her manual body work is amazing. I also liked that she did the manual body work while I was doing certain exercises or stretch patterns. Some trainers do this and call it 'hands on' but Sarah takes it to the level of "bodywork", beyond just hands on or cueing or feedback. She will literally open and re-educate the tissue/muscle/fascia while you are doing certain moves. She also gave me energy work which I very much needed. I found it fun to work with her and she always played my favorite playlist from "Portugal The Man" LOL. Sarah is a body God! I have been going to Sarah since Dec. I have double hip replacements and a newly replaced knee. Sarah changed the way I walk, helped me understand body alignment and helped me strengthen my core and understand how to position myself and control my movements. I've seen Sarah for back pain, and weak core muscles that are adding to structural pain. She is excellent and knows the body really well, including the bones, muscles, and movement patterns. We met in Shiatsu School, and since I've become a client, I see that she is hungry for knowledge, and is well trained in several modalities, including Pilates, massage, and myofascial release to name a few.
