In July i made the mistake of giving them my credit card for a deposit on a rental . Since that time i called them 3 times and left messages , NEVER GOT A CALL BACK NOT ONCE .The $500 deposit was never credited back to my card . Two of my voicemails gave specific information about the $500 charge Two months later , NEVER GOT A CALL BACK NOT ONCE. My credit card company had no problem reversing the charge and today i got a call back from the owners wife, telling me that the $500 deposit went back onto another card ??? When i ask to speak to the owner i am told he is to "busy selling boats to talk to a renter" . His wife is in charge of customer service , she said she never received a voicemail message . These people are a complete scam , all the red flags should go up if you plan on doing business with the Boat House . Buyer beware a credit card in the hands of the Boat House needs to be carefully monitored. I will never use the Boat House again and neither should you . read more

Great staff and the rates are not bad! You don't need prior boating experience and they issue you a temporary license after watching a video and taking a quiz. You need a driver's license though! Unlike some boat rentals around, they are professional and care about people enjoying their services. My family and I enjoyed our day even after getting our anchor stuck at the bottom of the lake (we're straight up amateurs). But we called the staff and they were quick to instruct us on what to do. This place is great. We love spending time on our boat because it brings our family together. We have been at The Boat Shop for almost 12 years and now have two boats there. They always go out of their way to make us feel like we are part of their family. Colin the head mechanic knows my boats inside and out and would drop everything if I had a problem. Ingrid in the office keeps the place remarkably organized given the chaotic summer weekends and she is always looking out for our family trying to keep everyone safe and happy. I have friends at other marinas and there is always something to complain about. I think Roy does a great job of balancing all of the challenges of running a complicated small business while keeping the marina safe and welcoming. If you are looking for a marina that will care for your boat as well as your family I would highly recommend The Boat Shop. read more

I called around 2:30 they told me to be here at 4 to get a Jetski I drove over an hour to come here and be told that they can't rent them after 4. Very rude staff and owner. I was very disappointed. The boat we rented was great but the customer service was atrocious. Will definitely try to rent from a different company next. The only reason I'm giving them two stars was because the boat we rented was great but the staff and woman at the front desk was horrible as well as the owner, he was disrespectful and condescending. this place robed me off totally. I took my boat to have carb rebuilt they charged me 305.00 dollars. when i used the boat had the same problem a sticky needle and seat. i decided to take it apart myself the parts look very old bowl very discolorded looks very old the motor is a 1997. They told me they took it out on lake and everything was ok only to find out water pump wasn't working. I would not trust these people with my lawn mower do your self a favor and go to captain joes they repaired my water pump and it works. read more

Was nice to know there was at least one place on Lake Wallenpaupack that operated first come first served for the jet skis. It was a last minute decision to want to go jet skiing on the busy Labor Day weekend and all it took was for us to get there early one morning to take them out. The staff was so accommodating and friendly- our experience at the boat shop was arguably the highlight of our trip! read more

So disappointed with how things turned out with The Boat Shop. We were moving to them from another marina to be closer to home. The north dock is in very bad shape and is currently covered with plywood to keep you from falling in. I understand that they are replacing next year but I just didn't feel safe being on the slip. They tried to move us around but in the end it wouldn't have worked out for us so we simply asked for a refund. Next thing the owner (sorry founder) came out with a snide comment of sorry we couldn't give you a "premium slip". I said wasn't asking for premium I just want safe. I was going to walk away from them just slightly disappointed that it didn't work out but SORRY that remark was completely unnecessary and plain out rude. I am now extremely happy that I won't have to deal with that kind of a person for what should be an enjoyable summer. Learn to keep your snide comments to yourself. read more

Beautiful boat, gorgeous lake, HORRIFIC staff with the exception of Dale. The day started out great and we had a wonderful time swimming and enjoying the weather, but things went downhill quickly when we returned to the dock. As our family of 5 adults and 2 young children were waiting to pay for our pontoon boat, the mechanic came storming over accusing us of riding up next to another boat and putting a couple thousand dollar dent in the back rear. We hadn't as much as dried off when Ingrid jumped in telling us that we had one of 3 options, the last being that she call the cops. Since we were certain the damage wasn't done while we were operating the boat (as we hadn't so much as veered from the center of the very clam lake), we choose option number 3 and asked for the cops to be called to settle the matter. While we waited for the cops I took pictures of the damage and asked Ingrid to please pull up the paperwork on the boat's last inspection and the signed waiver that we checked out the boat with an employee and saw no flaws. Since neither of these could be produced Ingrid quickly changed her tune. The owner ultimately admitted that mistakes happen and the damage might have happened at another time but he couldn't be certain. Ingrid then interjected that she "believed" us and thought we were very nice people that would not try to get away with anything. Except for myself whom she pointed to and called "grumpy" in front of her boss and my family. We suspect the damage may have been done well before we ever set foot on the dock. We left paying a reasonable $221 dollars for a great day on the boat and the gas we used while out. We weren't charged for the dent in the pontoon which they so vehemently insisted we had caused just one hour previously. I recommend The Boat Shop for an amazing afternoon but I would be cautious to clearly inspect the boat before boarding and check all angles if the staff puts it in the water before you are able to have a good look. Keep track of all your paperwork in case you need to prove your innocence!!!! Otherwise have a great time and avoid Ingrid and the mechanic. read more

My wife and I came up from Savannah and rented a boat for the weekend; it's a great option if you have kids. I can't understand your strict "no reservations" rule. I called, was willing to pay over the phone for the last available boat, but was told that wasn't possible and it was first come first serve. Used their webpage to submit my boat rental request, which seems unconnected to the actual rental process. Drove there to find that I missed out on the last boat by 5 minutes. Not allowing unsecured reservationists is understandable, not allowing someone to pay for a rental in order to hold a boat is bizarre. On a positive note, for those who actually manage to secure a rental, they are dog friendly. read more

You have to know all of the Boat shop personnel have to be the most courteous and friendly people. I purchased a Four Winns 210 Horizon in 2003, and recently traded it on a 2014 R5 Cobalt. In every aspect of both purchases the experience was terrific. I have always been treated with respect and open arms as "one of the Family" whenever I show up. As for issues or maintenance, as rare as they have been it was always taken care of promptly and to my liking. From Colin in the shop, to Roy Sr. who still loves his time at the store and Roy Jr. who is doing a fine job representing the highly respected business, and all who are working there, thank you for being who you are. I bought a Cobalt boat from them in the past and was storing it with them indoors. Had a major problem with several holes in the new tarp which was hard for me to understand if the boat was in fact stored indoors and at a higher rate. They took no responsibility for replacement and I no longer store my boat with them. Despite a number of discussions with them, I came away VERY unhappy. Went to look at a boat a week ago , which was out on a test drive. We called back the next day and the boat was still available. We went to check it out and scheduled a demo day to take it out on the lake. Two families planned a weekend around this demo, and when we got to The Boat Shop on the scheduled day and time, not only did they have our reservation incorrect, we were told that the boat was off the market and had been added to their rental fleet. Bear in mind this was after they charged us a $500 deposit to take the boat out, which in itself is ludicrous. We ended up buying a boat from another marina that same day. read more

This place is fantastic! Highly recommended. The staff is all so friendly and helpful. The boat was terrific - very new and clean, and it ran perfectly. (We rented a 10 person pontoon boat for 2 hours). Very easy to operate. It was just us and our two daughters so we had lots of extra space. We do not have boating experience, so my husband had to take a short 15 minute safety course which was no problem at all. Their prices are very competitive - less expensive than many in the area. We plan to be back as soon as we can. It is a really fun outing for families or couples, or responsible groups looking for a fun day on the lake. read more
