purchased a bayliner from them in 2024. The gas gauge was broken from the start. we dropped it off to repair while under warranty, and nothing seemed fixed. the gauge still wobbles horribly. this past fall received a recall notice from Bayliner instructing us to have dealer of purchase repair it. We had over 10 contacts with Bakkers only to be put off throughout the winter. Come spring, we were put off 3 more times. I contacted Bayliner for assistance and miraculously received a call the next day that Bakker's was ordering parts, and they will contact us in a week. Crickets. I gave them 3 weeks (in case of slow delivery) before calling for status of recall repair. I got the run around again with attempts to blame others for miscommunication. final answer from Bakker's was that Bayliner took account away. this left me back to starting all over again to find a dealership that could take care of the recall. I would NEVER use this business again. In fact, after to speaking to others, I don't know how they stay in business. I have read the other negative yelp reviews and they are all consistent with my experience. While purchasing a boat there may be an OK experience, don't deal with them after that! read more

My experience was not good; I attempted to inquire about a boat for sale and was given mixed answers. I called about a boat and explained that i lived a couple of hours away.. i asked if i could put a deposit on the boat and was told they would get back to me. i had to call. I was then told no, first come first serve, and that they open at 9 am. I said i could be there. I then called that afternoon to be sure the boat wasn't sold and got told that there were 2 other appt. on the boat and that they would let me know.... waaa waaa waaa I was never offered or told i could make an appt. even after offering the deposit. needless to say, they sold the boat and i never got a chance to see it. When I spoke to the owner about this his only concern was the bad reviews he was getting over how he was handling the sale of this boat. His name is Nick and the female salesperson is Marie. First, I need to make clear I have never bought a boat from Bakker. I have had a few boats shrink-wrapped over the years, and they did the job. I'm writing over a recent experience I had with them regarding consigning a boat (2011 Bryant, 220 with 34 hours). I purchased the boat new in 2013 as a leftover boat and it spent 2 years in the showroom of the dealership before I bought it. I worked as a mechanic for several years at a relative's auto business and have had boats all my life, so I did all maintenance and winterizing of the boat. So prior to bringing the boat over to Bakker, I de-winterized the boat (fluid changes, reinstalled exhaust manifold plugs and flushed out the anti-freeze from the raw water system. The boat has half closed cooling system with a heat exchanger. This means anti-freeze (green) goes into the motor and raw water cools the anti-freeze through the heat exchanger. This exchanger is divided in half, anti-freeze on the bottom half, and water through the top half to cool the anti-freeze, exhaust manifolds, and outdrive. So when I say I flushed the antifreeze, I mean what I put in the raw water system in the fall. I brought the boat over and turned it over to the salesperson (Marie), who said the shop needed to "check the boat over" because consigned boats get a 30-day warranty which the seller pays $350 for in escrow. I had no problem with this and left. Two days later, I received a voice message from the service manager (Joe), who asked me to call him about "some issues" with the motor in the boat. I spoke with him and he claimed the "heat exchanger plugs were blown out", it was leaking water and asked if I winterized the boat. I told him what I explained above and said I ran the boat to operating temperature before I brought the boat over and it wasn't leaking. He then fumbled for words and said "well we don't work on Volvo Penta's very often so I need to have someone else look at it". I said ok, he agreed to call me back after he did so. and I hung up. Seven days later, after no callback, I called Joe and asked what was the status of my boat, he ignorantly told me "you need to speak with Marie, she is here on Monday" and refused to tell me anything. At this point, I was leary and said that is not what you told me, and said I was coming to pick the boat up the next day (Saturday). On Saturday, I went directly to the service garage, and looked over the boat, to find ink writing on the sun lounger/motor cover of the boat, dirty footprints on the carpet, walkthrough, and grease spots on the rear seat. I checked the motor to make sure it was not disassembled in any way and hooked it up to my truck. I then went to the showroom and asked for someone in sales to get my paperwork. The owner, Nick came inside and was very polite until I told him what I was there for. He then pointed to a woman in the office and said "she'll help you". To my surprise, it was Marie, who according to Joe was not going to be in until Monday. I asked her for my paperwork, which she gave me which also had a pink sticky paper stuck to the binder that said "bad motor". She gave no explanation and I left. I then took the boat home, hooked up a hose to the water supply hook up, started the boat, and ran it up to operating temperature. It was indeed now leaking from the top of the heat exchanger (raw water) slowly. I called the dealer where I bought the boat and spoke with the manager who told me to check the oil and pull one of the hoses off the bottom of the heat exchanger. The oil was clean, and the anti-freeze was not diluted. He then told me to take the top cap off the heat exchanger and check the gasket. I found it appeared to have been loosened, I removed the cap, checked the gasket, and found the gasket was good and the cap straight. I called him back, he told me to torque it to the correct spec, I then refilled the antifreeze, hooked the water up, and started it. Miraculously there was no leak, I ran the motor for 20 minutes, it stayed cool, and ran flawlessly. So this is a tale of two boat dealers. One that took the time to talk me through a minor problem that was very well created by the other dealer, and Bakker Marine, very unhelpful, possibly incompetent, maybe dishonest, and definitely a boat dealer I would never deal with again or recommend to anyone. read more

Shameful. Tried to use my military honor and integrity to persuade me to moving forward with the purchase of a defective Pontoon boat. Even sent me a photo of their son in the military and asked me to "move forward with the deal for him if not for them". Manufacturer forgot to install the onboard/transom fuel tank with dash/helm gauge. I agreed to have them disassemble this brand new $25K pontoon and another boat they had in stock and swap the tank and dash gauges as long as they could guaranty there would be no further issues and the boat would be 100%(tank, gauges, etc). Guess that was too high of a bar because Nick decided to back out of the deal at that point and got nasty. Finally had to block their emails. Insult to injury, they are now suing me for backing out of the deal when I have the emails documenting they backed out. Take a moment to read the Google reviews and the nasty responses from the owner before doing business with them. You've been warned! read more

He answered all our questions and was very knowledgeable with different options for changing our boat over from a gas motor to electric. They provided fast, affordable and friendly service. I would give this place no stars they don't deserve a single star for the service that they provided. Horrendous, the owner is just disrespectful and has a nasty mouth on him and has no respect for costumers. In addition this place has no idea what products they are selling. Its too bad that we found that out after we purchased a boat from them. They say they will do something but do not do it like boat delivery and forget about talking to the owner he won't listen to you if you have a problem. In his eyes you have bought the boat its your problem now. In fact he will send you elsewhere to get it fixed. I have tried to find reviews about this place but I found none.
