We really enjoyed our time in Preston, and the hotel and spa here certainly made our quick trip…read moreeven better. The hotel was very clean, stately, and the grounds were lovely. The bed was very comfortable and we really appreciated the high ceilings, beautiful grounds, and enjoyed our walks around the estate. If you're working like we were, note that the internet is indeed fast enough for a developer who runs team meetings to lead all their meetings! I had a spa session with massage and facial and it was excellent! I swam every day and used the sauna facilities. The locker room and pool area was kept very clean and dry. The lady attendant was fastidious in keeping the changing room dry and clean. There was a bit of an incident where one of my favorite vintage pieces I sent off to laundry was not returned to us when they dropped off our clean clothes. I had actually been at the entrance to the hotel when the cleaner dropped it off and I verbally acknowledged to her that I could see my laundry because of my vintage piece and she stated they'd be delivered to my room shortly. Front staff sent back an empty hanger amongst our other clean clothes and had lost it. We found it on the floor amongst boxes behind the reception desk. They returned my item, and apologized personally. Not a big deal and glad it was resolved.

Nice venue, adequate, yet a little distant staff. On the first night a gentleman, who as I learned…read morebook a romantic package for him and his wife Kelly, decided to beat her up. Lot of swearing, screaming, hitting and shouting in the room next to us. Police intervention, mr roach was arrested and poor kelly brought to hospital by ambulance. In other words, our first night was not very restful! Sure that the hotel can't do anything about this, however some pro active compensation would have been in order. The downside of this hotel is the aggressive pricing for wedding packages, meaning that there are many wedding parties going on. I counted six in two days, which brings a lot of drunkards to the hotel, which does not help if you're seeking a quite place to relax. Will I ever get back to this hotel, no.

Cedar Manor Hotel is the cutest stay in the Ambleside area. 10/10 recommend, and we really hope to…read morereturn for a longer stay next time! It's a great location, just up the road from Ambleside. The Inn is quaint, charming, and comfortable and the staff are kind, welcoming and accommodating! We arrived and were immediately happy with the safe and private parking accommodations. We actually arrived very late that evening, and called ahead, they waited up for us and were so kind upon arrival. The Hotel is SO charming, cute and cozy. The aesthetic is charming English cottage, while also being updated and feeling clean. The hotel rooms themselves are more modern (though unique) to give you all of the comforts of home - my fave being the towel warmer. Our room was wonderfully clean (and I'm a stickler on cleanliness!) and the bed was so comfortable, especially after a long drive. It was such a comfortable and clean place to lay our heads for the evening. The hotel has a restaurant that I would also recommend. Breakfast was incredible - one of the first hotel breakfasts where I haven't had to douse in pepper haha. Well seasoned and well cooked, high quality ingredients. Jonathan is a wonderful chef. My husband said the hollandaise was one of the best he's ever had. I'd recommend stopping by for sure, and don't miss breakfast! The hotel is also very unique in that they have local goods/art around the hotel, both as decor and for sale. Such a sweet touch. We bought one of Caroline's paintings - she's multi talented! Overall, I would stay here again. 10/10!!

What can I say VERY disappointed. Booked a lunch about a month ago. Arrive and the restaurant "the…read moreview" overlooking the lake is closed. Moved us to the bar. Only offered the bar menu. I cannot tell you how many times we had to go to the bar to ask for menu, drinks, water, dessert menu it got kinda ridiculous and before you say they were busy we were1 of 3 tables a total of 9 people in the restaurant !!!! food was meh.... my dlunch companion does eat leafy veggies so I ordered the autumn veggie mix. It was the same as the buttered veggie mix but with a sliced carrot on top. Got coffee but no cream. Had to ask twice for cream and was told they are trying to find the container to serve the milk or cream!!!! coffee was cold by the time we drank it. This is ridiculous for somewhere that tries to push the "fancy" weekend away. Not worth the visit. I have been here many times and this was ridiculous

The…read moreConiston is a destination hotel affixed on 1,400 acres of sprawling hills in the Yorkshire countryside. You name it, the Coniston has got it. Spa, 4x4 off road driving, cycling routes, fly fishing, scenic walking, falconry, restaurant, shooting range, monthly events, and wedding venue. I mean... seriously Coniston you're just showing off at this point. We came here for a nice walk (picture friendly cows frolicking in a pasture next to an open dirt road overlooking endless green fields), as well as clay shooting. Honestly I'd come here for the walk alone, but the shooting range was awesome. Tons of shooting stands and clay shoots for every scenario - rabbit, pheasant, etc. There was a lovely cafe at the entrance with friendly staff who were very knowledgeable about equipment and safety (as well as coffee lol). We just brought our rifles, purchased bullets at the entrance, and off we went. Heads up - training is offered for newbies if you'd like to learn as well! Overall, fabulous experience so far at the Coniston. We're already planning our next long weekend here so we can really experience everything the property has to offer!
