They had Timothy Taylors Landlord and Best Bitter, Theakstons Best Bitter, Dark Horse Best Bitter, Moorhouses Elslack Ale and Thwaites Wainwright as well as a range of keg beers, lagers and ciders - Heaven!!!

The bed was very comfortable and we really appreciated the high ceilings, beautiful grounds, and enjoyed our walks around the estate. If you're working like we were, note that the internet is indeed fast enough for a developer who runs team meetings to lead all their meetings! I had a spa session with massage and facial and it was excellent! I swam every day and used the sauna facilities. The locker room and pool area was kept very clean and dry. The lady attendant was fastidious in keeping the changing room dry and clean. There was a bit of an incident where one of my favorite vintage pieces I sent off to laundry was not returned to us when they dropped off our clean clothes. I had actually been at the entrance to the hotel when the cleaner dropped it off and I verbally acknowledged to her that I could see my laundry because of my vintage piece and she stated they'd be delivered to my room shortly. Front staff sent back an empty hanger amongst our other clean clothes and had lost it. We found it on the floor amongst boxes behind the reception desk. They returned my item, and apologized personally. Not a big deal and glad it was resolved.

In other words, our first night was not very restful! Sure that the hotel can't do anything about this, however some pro active compensation would have been in order. The downside of this hotel is the aggressive pricing for wedding packages, meaning that there are many wedding parties going on. I counted six in two days, which brings a lot of drunkards to the hotel, which does not help if you're seeking a quite place to relax. Will I ever get back to this hotel, no.

Some wear face masks on the chin, somewhere facemasks on the cover in the mouth not the nose, someone just wear a face shields and a mask and some don't either. The…read moreConiston is a destination hotel affixed on 1,400 acres of sprawling hills in the Yorkshire countryside. You name it, the Coniston has got it. Spa, 4x4 off road driving, cycling routes, fly fishing, scenic walking, falconry, restaurant, shooting range, monthly events, and wedding venue. I mean... seriously Coniston you're just showing off at this point. We came here for a nice walk (picture friendly cows frolicking in a pasture next to an open dirt road overlooking endless green fields), as well as clay shooting. Honestly I'd come here for the walk alone, but the shooting range was awesome. Tons of shooting stands and clay shoots for every scenario - rabbit, pheasant, etc. There was a lovely cafe at the entrance with friendly staff who were very knowledgeable about equipment and safety (as well as coffee lol). We just brought our rifles, purchased bullets at the entrance, and off we went. Heads up - training is offered for newbies if you'd like to learn as well! Overall, fabulous experience so far at the Coniston. We're already planning our next long weekend here so we can really experience everything the property has to offer!

Lovely back garden with their own hens which supply their eggs for breakfast! Tastefully decorated throughout and homemade apricot flapjack cakes available at all times for the taking. Would have been even better if our room had been a lot, lot warmer, though, especially through the night for sleeping. Fortunately, there was plenty of hot water for showers to warm up! Would stay again!
